Yeah but at the VGAs we had the announcements of Uncharted 2/3 and The Last of Us, The Phantom Pain and other huge games. What did we had this year ?

VGAs aired on TV. There was a huge incentive for publishers to give big reveals to Spike.

There's no such equivalent for TGA. The reality we need to come to terms with is that TGA is a new show without any of the heavyweight factors that VGAs had to attract big scoops.

After last year's TGA, I kinda expected this. The brutal reality is that Geoff has not proven himself, and has not proven to publishers that his award show commands the audience and pull necessary to obtain big world premieres.

So until Geoff can prove that, his content is what it is.

PSX does not help one bit either, since Sony themselves has less of an incentive to give Geoff big scoops like they used to do, and even 3rd-party publishers could easily decide PSX is the better place to announce stuff than TGA.

Yeah but that leaked (not really Sony's fault, but still, we knew).
So if TLG, Shenmue and FFVII were leaked before E3, the show would be trash at this E3? I don't understand the logic.

My expectation is that PSX this year will be better than last year's. By how much? Who knows. I liked last year's conference. I don't need a lot of megatons.
I just want a GOWIV teaser and a full blown gameplay reveal of Bend's game. They can spend the rest of the conference talking about their passionate relationships with Activision, EA and Ubisoft for all I care.

iirc Verendus said Bend was "up relatively soon" and that there were 2 more first party reveals for the year after PGW

either way it's best to not get caught up in anything and just wait for the show.

Of course not (BTW those three leaked 24h before the conference, it was still huge), but you can't deny that the impact is not the same (that's why I will never understand people who WANTS leak).

Hopefully nothing will leak this year, Sony seems pretty silent so far, history told us that silent Sony is the best Sony.

Time to Boyes to wax poetics of Destiny again.

I like how every year Sony's pre-conference silence will be brought to attention as a sign of weakness. =P

That's a huge problem for Geoff, those two events are way too close, Sony will never give something huge for TGA (but Microsoft could, I wonder why they're so selfish).

What was V's original statement? Didn't he say something like 3 first party titles from PGW and onward?

Gravity Rush 2 was part of it and GT Sport counts, right? So, God of War 4 would most likely be the third.

I know that if we all believe together then FF7 Remake will come to PSX.

Let us join hands and pray.....

Hallowed be FF7 Remake.
Thy release come.

On PS4, as it is on PS1.
Give us this day our new trailer,
And forgive us our GIFs,
As we forgive those who GIF against us.
Lead us not into trolling,
But deliver us a remake.
For thine is Cloud,
The One Winged Angel,
For ever and ever.
Please Be Excited.

Verendus said there would be 2-3 first party announcement before the end of the year. We got one at PGS with Gran Turismo Sport being made PD. That leaves one or two announcement. Though I'm going to say that Verendus's comment is something I could have made, nothing groundbreaking. I could have given the same prediction because it's as safe as it gets. Sony has generally announced 1-2 of these every show.

I had no expectations for the TGA and found myself enjoying it, even though there were no huge reveals besides Psychonauts 2. I also don't have any expectations for the PSX as it didn't have anything big last year besides Street Fighter V exclusivity. But I can't wait to enjoy the event in the morning. :)

We also got Detroit by Quantic Dream.

Considering there is only a day away from the PSX, my expecations for the show dialed down a bit; still hopeful that its enjoyable and we get some great announcements, but not expecting much.

My final list of expectations from the show:
-Uncharted 4 Story Trailer
-Bloodborn DLC highlight (remind people its out)
-Street Fighter V Character announcements
-Final Fantasy VII Remake Trailer; in-engine and its 1-2 minutes of Cloud walking around, fighting, ect
-Announce that the PS4 Port of FFVII is released RIGHT NOW!
-A bunch of indie game announcements and many of them are cross-buy with PS4 and Vita
-Sony Bend or Santa Monica announces a new project at the show
-PS VR Release Date and Price announced
-Bamco, Square Enix, Idea Factory and other JP Publishers announce games coming to PS4 and/or Vita in the west (God Eater Resurrection and 2 Rage Burst, Final Fantasy XII HD, Neptuina Vs. Sega Hard Girls
-(Not likely)- Dragon Quest XI localization announced for the west alongside Builders and Heroes 2. Builders releases early 2016, Heroes 2 releases in the summer of 2016 and XI gets a winter 2016 release date
-PS1 and PS2 Classics announced for PS4: More details come out on how it works (cross-buy if you own them on PS3, pricing, new features, ect) and it releases after the event starting with Twisted Metal Black, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Ape Escape 2 and a number of ones already on the PS3 PSN Store
-Show closes with Crash Bandicoot coming on stage jumping out of a create and a trailer starts playing. This plays while Crash runs through a HD version of the original games level.....but as things slowly change and get bigger a rock version of this plays when a montage of all you can do in the game plays. Trailer ends with Crash using his Wampa Fruit Bazooka and shooting at the screen, with the words 'Crash Bandicoot Returns' appears. Co-Developed by Travelers Tales (Crash Twinsanity) and Naughty Dog, with it targeting a Fall 2016 release

Think there's any chance Sony mentions Persona 5 at this thing? Or will it just be a part of a sizzle reel for a split second?

That's not first party. I suspect Sony will have at least one announcement, Barlog's tweet was depressing though. I am secretly hoping he pulls a Jaffe and flat out lies. Can't believe it's 2 years in and we haven't even seen a trailer from a AAA game made by SMS. :\

To be fair, they would of had a big AAA game released already if their new IP was scrapped (sadly :'(). So, the likely deal is that full development on God of War IV began early 2015 (with concepts/art/ect being created when Corey Blog came back to Santa Monica, and concept development wrapping up late fall 2014).

I will would shocked if we hear nothing about God of War IV at E3 2016 but I could see them putting out a little teaser at the end of the show or something; at this point, they have to have something complete for the project.

Context is important.

Won't be ready for a while = game's completion or readiness to reveal?

For a while = how long does he define a while? 1 year? More than 1 year?

It's weird, the underwhelming announcements at the Game Awards (such a disappointment) killed my hype for PSX.

You too?

I dunno, logically it doesn't make any sense. The quality of the the Game Awards has absolutely no bearing on the quality of PSX, but I just can't shake the feeling of "meh."

Last year's PSX was far more interesting than VGX as well, so to me this is business as usual. Although I really didn't expect TGA to be worse than VGX, sheesh.

It won't be mentioned or even as much as shown. Not even in a sizzle reel.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting they are 2nd party. I'm honestly indifferent toward Santa Monica. I haven't liked their past games a lot but I do plan to get around God of War III on PS4 eventually. They're just not an exciting studio to me.

If we get neither God of War IV or a Sony Bend announcement. What else would be ready to be announced or revealed from Sony first party?

You're talking about this ? :

It's crazy, he said the exact same thing last year. Aren't they 200+ at SSM ?

WOW, SSM are genuinely taking the piss now as are Bend. Barlog has been at the fucking studio for near 2.5 years now, the game not being a state where it can be shown is ridiculous. I've got to admit that I did not in any way, shape or form think so many Sony studios would take so long to release their PS4 titles. It's sad that the last game I have enjoyed playing was Infamous: SS and that was March time last year, the 3rd parties really have not picked up the slack at all.

Not like my moaning will change anything mind, just going to keep twiddling my thumbs until March when UC4 releases. Will still watch PSX but not expecting any big title to be announced, which is not exactly shocking as E3 and Paris game show was stacked. :(

Yeah, he has been there for a while lol.. Bend, Studio Japan and Santa Monica Studios are joining PD as the turtle studios when it comes to making AAA games. I think it's best to wait until tomorrow night though, before we start trashing Bend and SMS.

Bend was working on a Vita game that was eventually canned and then they had to find a new concept and build a PS4 game. This is the first time that they've made a game from the ground up on a console in over 10 years. Japan Studio releases games relatively frequently. SSM had their big project canned not too long ago. And is fairly consistent (two-years per release).
