I read in a review of a print magazine that the download version has more technical problems than the retail version because the game files has been compressed. Is that true?

Huh? Strange.

I can do some comparisons to my JP retail version tomorrow.

I might've read the same review today (german Play4?).

They stated the texture quality was reduced and there's a lot of flickering. Apperently this due to compression to keep the download smaller or something. Bummer if true, but no deal-breaker for me.

Googling around for the iso, the digital version is the same size as the disc-rip version. They didn't compress anything more for this release.

Also, I've had the Japanese version since launch. Since there are more locations in this than any previous Yakuza, the lower res textures were used to save space. Never noticed any flickering though.

it doesnt make sense to me that the 22gb download would be compressed from the BR when a BR disc is 25gb per layer.

It's out in NZ. I'm guessing it was a midnight release on SCEE's PS Stores, so it should be out in Australia too (and Europe in 6 or so hours).

Doesn't seem like there's any PS+ discount though, so I'm holding off for now.

Playing thru it before I play 5. Will I be able to play Akiyama again? Currently on Saejima and didn't get the chance to finish a sidequest or 2 on Akiyama.

I'll be doing a LTTP when I finish 4, (I started playing them all in September), so I hope you share your thoughts in it. Curious about the perspective from someone who started at 4, (if that's the case here).

i cant answer ur question. But was 4 hard? I remember looking at a guide and it said it would take like 3-4 playthroughs. 3 was a pain in the ass with mini game master

Yes. You get a chance to clear all those sidequests up.

Yea, 4 is my first one. Got it from plus and it's been sitting there. Got to the part with Arai running off and stopped for some reason. Gaf hype got me to get 5, so decided to give 4 a go and am enjoying it. I don't mind making a post in the thread when you make it.

It was more time consuming than hard from what I remember. I think a few of the fights were troublesome but nothing too excruciating.

both of them are pretty much missable for the same reason. quitting harukas story to early in chapter 3. you can grind everything else in premum adventure mode.
you only need to play the game again for the ex hard trophy.

More than likely it will be Sony. I imagine they are happy with the pre-order numbers for Yakuza 5 and made a deal, especially with the number of PS4's out there.
