Yakuza 0 Director's Cut Coming to Steam/PS/Xbox on December 8th - No Upgrade Path for Existing Owners & Save Data Doesn't Transfer

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
This is the, as-of-yet, Switch 2 exclusive port that added English voice acting and a couple of more cut-scenes.

edit: DECEMBER 8th, not October. Will ask mods to fix.

Director's Cut was already ass, but now this? Yakuza is starting to be one of my most hated gaming series at the moment.

The no save / upgrade thing reminds me of how they handled Judgment. Couldn't transfer PS4 saves to the PS5. In any event I finished 0 so I'll be skipping the DC.

Buying an entirely new edition just to access a some new content?

RGG must think we're still in the PS2 gen, and they're not even giving it the 'Greatest Hits' pricing.

Yeah no, this might be the first Yakuza game I skip. The no upgrade path is ridiculous considering what's actually added in the directors cut. They should have just made this DLC.

I actually love the series more than anything. But right now, it's a prime example of what too much success and popularity can do to you. It's simply ridiculous to see the horrific methods RGG Studios uses to make money.

who the fuck is this even for exactly? lol

I mean, I love the series, I have the special edition of this, its one of my favorite in the series, but I'm not rebuying this shit lol

so what order are you suppose to play the games in with all the remakes and such floating around

Yakuza 0
Kiwami 1
Kiwami 2
Kiwami 3 (previously Yakuza 3)
Yakuza 4
Yakuza 5
Yakuza 6

I won't get into the turn based and spin-offs after that cause the above alone is a very tall-order.

The original PS2 Yakuza 1 and 2 have been thoroughly replaced, no reason to pick them up other than curiosity and/or completion's sake.

Yakuza 0 ruined the series, I would rather go back to the days of begging Sega to localise their games. The series has become such cringe now
