Why does he wear the mask!?
That was amazing.

Groot reveal was the best bit.

No idea how they'll wrap this up in 1 issue.

Val, Franklin, Sue, and Reed
are all missing post- Secret Wars right? Johnny is back to normal, and Ben's in space.

Haven't caught up on 7 and 8 yet, but I finished Thors. That was surprising good but I felt it was a bit too short. Another 2 issues would have been just right. Could have given femThor more presence too. The Ultimate/616 Thor scenes were great stuff. Was the final ending supposed to be post Secret Wars? Lol.

yeah it was. There are a few series that ended similarly. I think Weirdworld did the same thing if I'm not mistaken.

That Star-Lord, man, that reminded me of Thanos miniseries Star-Lord/Annihilation Wave Star-Lord. And a bit of early DnA Star-Lord too. So good.

Well that was a very satisfying issue.

Even if issue 9 ends up being a bit of a let down, I don't see how this isn't the best Marvel event since at least Annihilation.

Fantastic issue. That panel with
Sue and Val
is solid gold.

You can feel it all coming full circle with Hickman's F4/FF run.

Yep, I loved
Reed
's reaction to seeing
them
.
Like he wasn't even really shocked and was planning on it anyway

LOL. #7 and #8 was like 45 pages of straight unfiltered Marvel fanservice. Felt more like a crazy balls to the wall What If comic than a normal Marvel crossover event. Which is probably why it was actually good. :p

I think that's what makes Secret Wars work, it's basically a What If comic. I mean, after it's over everything is more or less going back to normal so Hickman is free to do whatever the hell he wants without having to worry about continuity.

I agree on Thors. Great series-abrupt as hell ending and then Jane is shown at the very end. They should have used her more.

Jesus. What an issue. Just wall to wall craziness. And I love
how unfazed Doom was at Thanos, and then casually went Sub Zero on his ass.

Oh, and
Black Panther/Namor team up with a zombie army backing them up?
Shit just hit the fan.

Anyone knows if the final issue is going to be extra sized? Also, are there other Secret Wars tie-ins which are particularly notable? Siege and Thors both tied in pretty well with the actual crossover, but am I missing any other gems?

None of the others tie in at all and in fact contradict what the main books say in a lot of ways.

Meh, that's disappointing to hear. I guess when they eventually do a big trade, there'll probably be one with Secret Wars 1-9, Siege 1-4, and Thors 1-4?

The last issues of Siege and Thors expand on various things, but yeah, they're not essential.
But they don't contradict things like Age of Apocalypse, Future Imperfect, Star Lord & Kitty Pride, and Inferno.
Nor do they outright ignore it like everything else.

I think both Siege and Thors do a good job of picking up after the introductory issues of Secret Wars, expanding on an important segment of Battleworld which isn't expanded on at all in Secret Wars itself, and then leading back out directly into the Secret Wars storyline at the end. For that reason, they should probably be included in the omnibus trade at least.

I'm actually surprised at how Old Man Logan hasn't shown up in the main Secret Wars books yet (given the last few pages of OML), and there's only one issue left.

I think if anything Secret Wars will be bolted onto the back of an Avengers/New Avengers omnibus (probably the second of two), especially given Secret Wars #1 is quite literally the actual last issue of Avengers.

Just got through #8.

So it seems like Doom has at at least the power of a Living Tribunal in his world. Based on that,
will an infinity gauntlet be enough to stop him? I know that when Adam Warlock had the IG, the Living Tribunal wasn't 100% sure he could take it from him by force.

God Doom powers seem to be infinite. He has been shown to rewrite reality at will, killing powerful beings effortlessly. The
infinity gauntlet
may be a nuisance, but there is no way he won't come on top on that fight. I predict
the Reeds will find the Molecule Man, cut Doom from the source of his powers so he will be defeated. Beard Reed will then take the godlike powers for himself and wish for a universal system restore.

Lashley

Now that I think about it, how is Doom the bad guy?

He saved the multiverse.

Reed and the survivors of 616 are the villains, if anything.

It was pretty good, things happened, but I'm disappointed in the way
Thanos and Thing/SHIELD
ended anticlimactically.
Thanos goes on an all-out-Worf note, just to show how powerful God Doom is, and Ben's all like "oh, shit, nevermind, kill me now" when he realizes who Franklin is.

My #9 predicitions (with not alot of ANAD knowledge):
BP thinks he's won with the IG, but gets backstabbed by Namor, because he's fucking Namor.
10 Page's worth of people fucking shit up, with Elder Tree Groot really going HAM
Doom wipes out whoever's left.
Doom goes to get rid of the Reed's, but hesitates when confronted by Val/Susan, letting the Reed's do something to Molecule Man, defeating Doom and causing the end of everything outside of the MM's room.
The Reed's fight over how to use the power, both coming up with similar "restore everything" plan's, but different start point's (616 vs 1610), leading to the merged ANAD Marvel (why Maker and Miles are still around).
Ends with 616 Reed (has he been seen in ANAD yet?), spotlighting his missing fingertips, implying he for sure is the same 616 Reed, who probably remembers all of Battleworld. Does anyone specifically remember the end of the world incursions and battleworld, or is it more of a "everyone skipped that part"?

Which All New, All Different series have been good so far? I've avoided reading anything post-Secret Wars because I want to see this thing through to the end after 3 years of being invested in this story. But which series should I prioritize after SW9 drops?

So far the best ones are:

Vision - Do NOT sleep on this.
Ultimates
Captain America: Sam Wilson
Amazing Spider-Man
Invincible Iron Man
Hercules
Guardians of Infinity
Doctor Strange
Karnak
Astonishing Ant-Man
Spider-Man 2099

Potentially good:

New Avengers
Inhumans
Uncanny Inhumans
Extraordinary X-Men
Carnage
Hawkeye
Scarlett Witch
Mighty Thor

Trash:

Uncanny Avengers
Angela
Avengers
Spider-Gwen
Silk
Black Knight
Nova

I'd agree with this-except move Thor up and move New Avengers down. Uncanny Inhumans is awesome, and I hate Inhumans. Vision is far and away the best book-it's a revelation. Someone doing something ENTIRELY new with the character.

Where's Squirrel Girl on this list?

edit: Deadpool's missing too. It's a consistently great book with good pacing.
