Triple H addresses fan frustration with the quality of WWE's shows and overall product. He admits that the quality of WWE's shows aren't as good as they should be.

“We just have to become more disciplined and more creative with how we do things, and how we operate the shows. We’ve had some unfortunate situations with injuries and everything else. It’s on us to be more creative and come up with a better format; a better show. We hear people’s frustrations and in a lot of ways feel the same way. It’s fixing it. And, trying to fix it. It is what it is. How we fix it, we’re not 100 percent sure yet. But, we will get there. Trust me.”

This week's WWE Raw set a record low rating of 2.15, and it was widely panned by critics and fans alike. It broke the previous low of 2.16 set on November 23rd.

This is some George Lucas "It's stylistically designed to be that way and you can't undo that. But we can diminish the effects of it," speak.

Wrestling isn't entertaining enough to keep people's interest anymore. The average attention span has gone way down and I don't think it's possible to keep people interested in even a 5 minute match anymore. Soon as the bell rings people flip the channel.

what are fans frustrated with? Are wrestlers getting hurt so often they have to stop the show? Are they wanting more in depth and/or varied characters and narrative?

Well the matches themselves are very formulaic. I can easily call out RAW matches, particularly tag matches, from the spots to the ending pretty easily.

Everything feels very manufactured and rehearsed. The characters all sound like they are reading from a script they memorized. The matches, as I said above, are watered down and formulaic. The show itself doesn't do anything anymore in the way of uniqueness. There is no sense of unpredictability.

Raw is a chore to watch, those being pushed seem Ill fit for their roles. Which is all baffling because they have NXT on their network that in 1 hour accomplishes a much better version of pro wrestling than 3 hours of Raw. The use of NXT call ups from Nevile and Owens to Sasha, Becky, and Charlotte was much more effective on NXT as well. None of those characters on NXT suffered from 50/50 booking or weak uninteresting angles. So yeah it's pretty frustrating because they have the talent roster who can potentially put on great matches.

Vic Venom will fix this mess with Daniel Bryan* vs the Wyatt Family in a beard on a pole match.

*If Daniel can't do it we'll have the Big Show grow a beard and hope no one notices

In his usual roundabout political way he pretty much said 3 hour RAWs suck and are impossible to keep consistently entertaining.

The last time I tried to watch the WWE I was met with like 3 or 4 back to back monologues before the first match finally happened and then it was commercial breaks like every 2 minutes.

No thanks.

Continuity and having a plan for months in advance would be a nice start. How can someone give a damn about a story line if the thing done the week before will likely be completely forgotten the next week?

As odd as it may sound in today's "politically correct" society. I think they need to go back to the attitude era. Not showing blood and stuff takes some of the immersion away and creates even more fakeness. I know they love the kids, but the kids will always be there... You have to cater to the adults that buy the kids tickets, toys and merchandise.

Find more ways to make more awesome moves look more punchy while being more safe. I get that they can't be ECW, but they're a stunt-based improv show without enough impressive stunts. How do you fix that? Same as any other stunt show. Get as crazy as you can without compromising safety.

Having said that, some of the fast, technical ECW wrestling was great, and absolutely something the WWE could incorporate. Just making the matches faster would be a huge step in the right direction. You don't need to be flying off the top rope into a mountain of tables to introduce some of that ECW electricity into a WWE show.

Nothing makes sense, and as a result nothing matters. People accuse everyone and everything, but the core reason is that none of the current storylines on the main show make any sense.

The big storyline going into TLC revolves around Sheamus is going to show Reigns he cannot beat him. He talked about this on RAW for three hours. However, within the first 30 mins of that RAW Roman Reigns pinned Sheamus clean. Why would anyone care about TLC after that happened on RAW. The question you posed to fans was answered before you even asked it.

That is the main event... and going through the card for TLC each and every match has similar issues. Regardless of the talent involved or not involved due to injuries the problems are the same. Nothing matters because it makes no sense. You could have the two stop stars in the company face each other, and it would not matter as the writing makes no sense. They cannot build a compelling story when they cannot even follow simple storytelling logic. It is attritious.

NXT on the other hand makes logical sense, and you can get invested in storyline.

I don't think I've ever seen/played/read a piece of media that feels as "corporate" as modern WWE. It's so sterile and predictable, everything from top to bottom designed to be as non threatening/accessible as possible, sponsors and USA seem to control the show as much as Vince does, talent micromanaged almost always to their detriment, etc

WWE is more concenred with being a commerical for its brand that actually putting on a great show and making stars

To sum it up:

No one has any actual character development, there's no payoff for actually being a fan of the show, the wrestlers you want to be focused on more get neglected in favor of lunkheads that no one likes, there's constant comedy skits that no laughs at, the commentary booth doesn't help introduce new fans at all, the show is too long and too boring.

Why Vince ain't saying this huh. Why is the guy who runs the only thing worth watching on WWE saying this. How about they guy who books this bullshit on Raw speak up

The people in charge are all either out of touch or incompetent, and they are all family so there is nobody there to tell them how shitty their ideas are. I don't trust Vince or his yes men to create something as popular as the attitude era again when he probably blindly lucked into it the first time around, and I also don't think there is anyone on the roster with the right combo of talent and balls to break through the ceiling creative puts on them.

RAW is 3 hours (!!!) long?! I stopped watching wrestling over ten years ago, and back then RAW was a 2 hour. I felt that was more than enough.

Why extend that to three hours long?

There's no probably about it

Doesn't Triple H pretty much run things with NXT whereas RAW and such are hampered by McMahon still having a lot of creative control.

I know this. RAW also has to appeal to multiple demographics, which does not help. It has to try and keep up with the conunitity of Total Divas, which does not help. It has to allow some of its stars to leave to work on WWE Films every now and then, which does not help. When it comes to the main product, WWE is spinning far too many plates at once to keep up, and all are falling.

I said it before, but they need to reduce their focus. They cannot get better with such a broad focus. Target one demographic, and try to make them happy. It would be nice if this demographic was "us," but it does not have to be. Focus solely on kids if they want to, just stop trying to please everyone, and the product will improve. Currently they are pleasing no one.
