Probably (possible manga spoilers)

Gohan is not in the five contestants but he comes to save the day in some unwinnable fight. The problem is he will not want to kill his opponent and yadayadayada. Gohan needs to kill someone sometime, he only killed Cell but along with the "spirit" of his dad. Grow a pair, son.

Anyone else hope this next arc is a longer arc? Doesn't need to drag or anything. Just want a lot more fights. BoG and RoF were pretty small in number of showdowns compared to the Z arcs.

Gohan will put in training and replace Buu for the tournament. Buu can't participate because who the fuck cares, he was asleep for Freeza's return. Gohan ends up being a surprise in the tournament as he wasn't expected to do well or something.

Will probably be the case. It makes sense for the arcs we've had to be as short as they are. Honestly it's been for the best how short they've been. No one wants to trudge along while knowing what'll happen. If they had made them longer it would be by doing some more of what they've been doing and change-up scenes completely and introduce extra stuff.

He's a hotheaded amateur who overcompensates everytime he gets a power up. Do something smart for once gohan, god.

That's the thing.......

Why is everyone blaming Gohan and not tiger mom Chichi for nagging her son to become a scholar?

I actually like the idea that Gohan is a guy who likes to read.

You'd think he'd be an all around smarter guy than he's shown himself to be. There should be some Aizen-ish potential there.

Goddamit, Toriyama.

Next arc spoilers:

Gohan's time to shine comes when they finally find the old Namekian legends book and he's the only one who knows how to read it.

Scholar FTW.
But then at his study desk he accidentally spills herbal tea all over it and piccolo doesn't get to power up and gets killed because of gohan again

If you can't enjoy these charcters acting goofy and silly you might be watching the wrong series
Remind me, is Vegeta going to be stuck wearing that apron all of the time? Balance, mate, balance.

Minor character with big VA = They avoid giving him minor pointless cameos aside from big reunion specials. I guess that's the actual reason he wasn't in RoF and they didn't add him to the Super version of the arc either.
=o

Huh. Consider me mindblown.

I just hope he doesn't get SSG/SSG Blue. I think it'd be cooler if he caught up the traditional way and its only possible because he has the most dormant potential.

Oh, and he actually needs to train. No elder kai upgrade shenanigans please. When he actually trains he really does go in. Probably the hardest trainer outside of Vegeta.

I remember back in the hyperbolic time chamber where he'd keep going when even Goku couldn't - it shook him up.

I'm enjoying Super so far, but my fear is that the most significant upgrades will be gifted or magical from here on, rather than skills earned through specific training.

Didn't he train quite a bit in the arc to prep to fight Buu after he got taken to Supere Kai's world. Before he broke the sword it was even mentioned that he was making good progress which caused elder Kai to pop out. He had getting strong enough to fight Buu on his own, but he got those god steroids for freeing the genie from the bottle. Then again, every character who has used a sword ends up having a quick run to the Yamcha pile after their impressive debut.

My Kami, is it really happening? Is Gohan finally...can't be? Can it? Please don't fuck this up, please please please.

It might be a little while before we see anything come of it if they are indeed implying that he's gonna make a come back. Earliest would be them maybe showing him doing some training in between the F and Tournament arcs, but it's also very possible they won't show that.

4 months of training should be enough :p

Not watched the episode yet but if they are going down the road of Gohan learns he need to train, I hope he does end up successfully defending the earth alone while the other strong guys who are at the tournament end up losing and sort of negate his big win. That would be really funny to me.

Gohan and Piccolo just need to fuse already and become Picohaun....oh my god

Gohan petered out after powering up? Piccolo being the first casualty. Heck even Gotenks has been reduced to jobber status. As annoying as Gotenks is he held his own against Buu.

I've always thought Piccolo trained in secret throughout the years, but a weaker Gohan SS is stronger than him as witnessed so far.

Oh, well. At least we have the multiverse webcomic.

super is showing us just how much they fucked up with full blooded sayajin powers. Never should have exploded so much. Even gohan and gotenks are useless now. lol

Ugh

He basically admits to himself that due to lack of training/fighting he no longer is able to protect everyone. He then says 'if only I'd kept training like my dad and others have been then Piccolo wouldn't have died.'

The anime made it super obvi that Gohan is going to start training again so he's in shape to protect his family. I've been saying this since the RoF movie. Everyone needs to believe.

Good episode but I was hoping Gohan would throw a punch which took first form Frieza off guard at least. It is crazy how skinny he looked when powering up.

SSB next week! Guess they aren't dragging the fight out too long.

Vegeta
dispensing with Ginyu
was great. It's nice to see that he is still a ruthless fighter.

Funny how hyped I am for the fight to begin even know we already know more or less what happens from the movie.

Just watched the episode and it was amazing how pathetic they made gohan look.
The drawing this episode is pretty bad and reminded me a lot of One Piece but the part where he passes out makes sense I guess since he was heavily injured from Frieza's death beams?

Maybe they'll adjust it in the home video release.

Anyway I hope they don't drag the rest of this arc out. Next week seems to follow the movie more closely and the episode after that has
golden Frieza

Vegeta could have achieved SSJ2 on his own, but it's also possible he didn't. He let himself be possessed because he knew there was still a large gap between him and Goku, and Babidi's magic boosts someone's strength by a huge amount. That amount could have been enough to let him become a SSJ2.

He mentions Goku surpassing SSJ "as well" with a rather calm and rational attitude, which doesn't seem like something he'd do, if he still couldn't become a SSJ2. He also considers himself stronger than the weakened Gohan.

However, those two are pretty much the only evidence that he had SSJ2 before getting the Majin seal. And the Buu Saga was the same place where Vegeta was saying that he could win the tournament (where #18 and Piccolo were going to fight) without even becoming a SSJ.

Which makes me wonder (manga spoilers)
if he'll be ready in time for the tournament. Goku brushes off the suggestion that Gohan should fight.

Regarding the manga, there's an oddity in that chapter.
Piccolo joins Goku and Vegeta right after he gets mentioned. But, Buu mentioned alongside him, doesn't appear at all. So, Buu's namedrop might have been meant to just mislead the viewer's expectations. Either way, we soon should be getting spoilers for the next chapter, which should confirm whether Buu's going to be the 5th team member or not.

Krillin gives him a senzu.

Ah, right on, I'm commenting while watching lol

So it's now confirmed that Bulma has enough Ki to bypass the defences and choke someone who is a galactic peacekeeper, and are pretty strong but for Earth with it's super powered mutants. Shipping it!
