Saw it in 4dx

It's just kinda weird, it feels like it's building up to something but then it just ends, like there's a whole 3rd act or even full half of a movie that's been cut.

The whole things feels different from the first and even second movies, like there's some kind of fantasy escalation that kept the virus going for some reason, for 28 years; you'd expect the entire population of Britain to be infected if it was that prolific.

Oh well, all in all alright, but I genuinely think the second movie is better, even if it has a bunch of hokey shit as well.

A sequel, titled The Bone Temple, is out in January. That probably explains it.

What's 4dx? When the seats move and someone farts close by to make it smell?

What's 4dx?
It's for people who want to experience getting their ass kicked by a chair.

I see. Not sure that would be for me. Going to the movies is annoying as fuck at the best of times, never mind sitting in a Space Harrier cabinet as well.

Just sat through this absolute piece of trash film. Good riddance who is responsible for this mess?? and who are those trash ass reviewers giving this pile of ass anythig above a 2/10. No fucking integrity

i was so looking forward to it and it turned out to be one of the worst films i've seen in recent years. Hell there were a bunch of people walking out of the cinema, best choice ever.

Do NOT under any circumstances waste your money on this

Wow.

I said in my first post after watching it I kept expecting it to start but then it ended but I wouldn't have said it was trash.

To each their own and all that, I'm sure you had your reasons.

People walking out? I guess I was lucky, there were only about 6 people in the theatre for my showing.

Just back from the cinema. It was fantastic!!! At least very original!
Now that's an autheur movie.

See that tlou season 2 ?!
These are fucking scary zombies!!! dirty, fast and naked because .. it's been 28 years.

Lol the ending reveal.
Was that just to troll us and reaffirm he is in good hands?
that was goofy and kinda great

I didn't catch it... was the ending jim... cilian murphy?
And it's not the same Jim as the... 28 days later jim? is it? He is a kid when it started and in 28 days later, he was woken up in a hospital and he was an adult

I think parts of the movie are kinda cartoony especially and once the soldier comes into it the dialogue gets proper stupid and sort of ruins that aura of isolation but 2/10? Lol. The movie does also have a lot of imagery early on that sort of gets dropped.

Going by what Danny Boyle said he didn't wanna make the movie extremely normie and accessible so its an experiment for him it seems.

No it's the actor who played the Vampire in Sinners

New characters shows up.

"YO IS THAT CILLIAN MURPHY THOUGH?"

Movie premise is strong enough to not need him and his story arc was completed in the first movie but nostalgia sells. 🤷‍♂️

I was laughing my ass off cause a guy a few seats down just shouts out 'holy fuck, look at the size of it's dick' during the train scene. too funny, I'm a child

I'm curious why you think that, given all the positive word-of-mouth around it, but I haven't seen it yet and don't want to have it spoiled.

Nah, I'll make up my own mind.

I already didn't have much hope for the sequel coming out next year....the director is some no name young woman who directed The Marvels. I understand Danny Boyle had his hands full with this one and the sequel comes out less than a year later...but couldn't he have hand picked a better director?

Honest question for those who saw it -

When you call it weird....do you mean weird like anime weird? Like the Evangelion saga?

Or weird like....Danny Boyle's The Beach which takes a weird turn in the second or third act?

It goes from grounded realism to Council Estate dudes performing Hong Kong cinema movements.

She also directed the newest Candyman, which is one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen.

Sounds fkn awful.

I'm someone who swore never to play Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes when I saw the trailer where Snake jumps over a missile and kick it in another direction. Even though MGS was never super realistic, that Matrix shit was just way too much.

What makes stories like Nolan's Batman or 28 Days Later work is that they take very silly ideas and try to make them feel sort of grounded in reality.

I think its the first one of these movies that doesn't just peter out. It's a solid movie all the way through. it feels like kind of a small story, but it is part 1 of a trilogy so that's understandable to me. I think it's very well done.

At the very end it does something that feels like a different movie. it's tonally out of place, but 99% of the run time is perfectly normal - nothing too weird at all aside from how creative the infected are in this one.

It sounds like that final scene was tacked on as a preview of what the sequel, with a different director, will be like.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if she directed the final scene.

I read that Garland wrote the scripts for parts one and two to feel like totally different movies.

I have a feeling 28 years later: The Bone Temple isn't gonna come out in January as scheduled.

I expect to hear about some rewrites and reshoots happening in the coming months....and the announcement that it's being delayed until the end of next year.....maybe summer or fall if they are lucky and the whole cast and crew just happen to be available to do reshoots sooner than later.

I did it once and that was enough for me. I found that the extra elements just do the opposite of what they're meant to by breaking your immersion and reminding you that you're in a cinema.

Depends on the movie. It was absolutely amazing and immersive in Top gun maverick. Pretty bad in mission impossible reckoning. Hit and miss.

The main character of the 28 Days Later series is London (as a wasteland)

Does London feature at all in 28 Years later?

I don't see the point of this movie if London isn't the main character

No London is not in it. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to the UK than London.

For those that know, I'm glad they got the sycamore gap tree in. Twice.

And now that someone else has mentioned it, the ninja jimmy savilles at the end was my WTF moment.

Yep this became a 'wait for stream' movie. I wasn't sold after the trailer(s) and I'm not after some of the impressions from the people who seen it (especially the comments about having a different feel compared to previous films).

Couldn't agree more, it was complete garbage. Quite a shame considering first two are good. I didn't have any expectations and still left the cinema disappointed.

Judging by the response from even the people who disliked the movie....if you turn it off after the first hour you'll come away thinking it was the awesome sequel we were hoping for.....

Eh...I guess I'll wait for streaming.

Booked ticket for Sunday night. Hopefully there won't be lots of people there. I feel like I have the right expectations for the movie to be able to enjoy it. I hope they'll be able to make the two sequels too. From what I've heard the first movie doesn't feel like a full story, so it'd be disappointing otherwise.

I think people were expecting maybe an action packed zombie movie, but it's more like the Last of Us than it is 28 Days Later. It's a coming of age road trip type of movie. And it's very well down imo. I think this is why the audience is split. It has great performances from Ralph Fiennes and the child lead actor, who is carrying this film.

It reminds me of a French-language film "Ravenous" which you might enjoy if you liked this one.

It wasn't the guys real dick for those wondering. It was a prosthetic like Hodor's. But he was an 'alpha' so guess that was kind of the point. Everything oversized.

It started really strong, but the last act was a bit stupid. The scenes with Erik were actually quite cool, especially with his birds pictures.

As soon as the nosebleeds started I knew where it was going but the last section didn't really fit in with the rest of the film, and I felt the baby only existed to close off the dad arc.

Pretty much everyone agreed that the end costumes evoked the ghost of Jimmy Saville. It felt like we'd crossed into some weird parody of Clockwork Orange at that point.

But honestly 28 Days and 28 Years were kinda cheesy, the way they were shot and I always felt they were a bit over rated anyway.

Ralph Fiennes character stole the show imo.
