Because his proper role is the intense, silent hot tag paired up with a great mouthpiece who can bump like crazy. Being a singles top face with no manager showcases every single one of his weaknesses week after week.

It's a couple things. Reigns showed potential in the shield days. But once they broke them up he just quit trying to improve. His mic skills I'll actually argue have gotten worse. HIs matches have gotten beyond predictable and he just looks like he's going through the motions. This is not including the ridiculous vest shit still being worn and the fact that Vince has tried to ram him down our throats even more then he did Cena.

You combine all that together and it no wonder the fans hate him.
