Sony announces partnership w/ KojiPro, New IP, 1st game "console exclusive to PS4"/PC

Sounds like a deal to keep it off MS and Nintendo platforms, so PC should be fair game for as small and experimental as I expect something like this to be. This does not seem like a publishing agreement, just an exclusivity contract.

Glad to hear he's got things in place so fast out of Konami.
 
Looking at it now, that PS Nation report had to be true about Sony planning to announce it at PSX to close the show. When Kojima didn't get the ok from Konami to attend VGA and probably PSX the plan fell through.

PS Nation has learned about the next moves Hideo Kojima will be making in his latest gaming endeavors. Hot on the heels of the split with Konami, Kojima will be forming his own independent games studio in Japan.

In addition to this, the new studio will be working directly with Sony’s Worldwide Studios in Japan on a brand new IP and bringing the new studio’s first creation to PlayStation 4 and PC. This new joint venture will be completely funded, published, and owned by Sony upon release.

As with all things controversial, we suspect this announcement was to be the big closer to the recent PlayStation Experience 2015 event in San Francisco. However, due to legal issues, this reveal could not be made during the conference. Here’s hoping this won’t be the only partnership we see between Kojima’s new studio and the PlayStation ecosystem.

I'm sure he knows this is an amazing coup in gaining even more PS4 momentum and
supporting a genius creative to do his own new thang.

Just give him some good monies Sony, I know you wont interfere creatively :)
 
That was way faster than I expected.

I dont even know what I want to see from him. Should he make another stealth action game? Will he go the horror route with del toro again?

Plus it's the whole "micromanaging developers to the early grave" thing with Microsoft.
 
REALLY excited to see what they come up with. Seeing material industry support for Kojima after what Konami did makes me happy.
 
Now here's the question; is he gonna make some super safe MGSV spiritual successor to make the money? Or will he roll the dice and go total indie and make his ultimate crazy idea game and see what happens?
I'd be excited for either one, personally.

Ya just know Kojima has had this logo in his pocket for 3 years waiting for his escape. Having Kojima Pro in the news from here on out makes me happy knowing Konami will forever be hearing and reading his name daily.

I have so many questions right now, about the staff and the game engine(Fox(?)), unlikely but if the programmers are the same they may do some sorcery.
Great news, 2015 BEST year for Gaming for quite a while.
 
What a wonderful day for video games.

I think this is the fastest turnaround on a rumor to confirmation I've ever seen. If the rumor's true and today was literally Kojima's last day at Konami, he certainly didn't waste any time.

Pretty sure its coming out on PC. Sony isn't worried about PC, especially in Japan where pc gaming is not really popular. Safe to say this is another Street Fighter 5 thing which is great. Still feel bad for Xbox One players, I almost want to say its really not fair.

It does seem like a reaction to that Nikkei article, on par with that used game video tutorial they put out.

It will obviously be smaller in scope compared to MGSV but I wonder if this will be something Kojima has had in his head for a while or more of project to get the team working together.

Good on them. The faster Konami stays in the past, the better.

Can't wait for details. Although it will probably be a while until that.
