Also my speculation going forward: Luke battles Snoke in second film, dies. Stuff happens with Kylo in second film, abandons the dark side, Rey takes revenge on Snoke for killing Luke since he will train her and form a bond, fatherly figure etc, Kylo will take revenge on Snoke for turning him into a monster and killing his own father Solo. Rey and Kylo will team up to defeat Snoke together.

I have not seen TFA, but I feel like they're gonna keep Luke around until IX to kill him. Having the two biggest moments in the first two films of the new trilogy involving the deaths of OT characters sounds really lame.

What I really want to happen in VIII is that Rey falls to the dark side and it's revealed Finn is in fact Force sensitive, and they have to get her and Kylo back in IX from Snoke.

I bet Finn will be on a journey of self discovery in ep 8, which where he probably meets his over love interest and finds out he has the force in him before coming back. After knowing his fate in the movie I think I see he has a pretty good arc coming, that many of us are missing.

Ugh please no.

With Rey in the hands of Luke at the end of VII, this sounds like a lot to accomplish in approximately 3 hours.

Maybe not. I don't know. Seems like a lot though.

Wtf I'm outttie pics are a tad much. I will not spoil myself on episode 8 and 9 but I will on rogue one.
I Regret ever reading spoilers.

wow I listened to the audio for Han's death scene with Ben, that was touching

anyway, can somebody explain to me how the Dark Side corrupts a force-sensitive? how is it affecting the midichlorians? I got a feeling that Kylo still has Ben somewhere inside of him and if so, dealing w/ shit like killing his own dad would need a motivation more than just his deference to Snoke, right? is Snoke controlling his mind or something? this stuff seems way too fascinating to write off as "evil guy is evil"

Is Starkiller Base a weapon that they built into a previously existing planet or did they build it from scratch and give it an actual ecosystem to make it look like a planet?

according to the starwars.com wiki it was an existing planet that was transformed into a weapon, the original name of the planet is unknown.

there is a tiny bit of evidence that it's the planet ILUM, but that's pure speculation at this point.

I were caught by surprise when it was revealed that Kylo is Han's son. It worked out well, and fuck him for killing Han. Huhu. The best moment and one I had been hoping for, were Rey getting that lightsaber battle. Maybe Rey is the daughter of Luke? I really want her to be a Skywalker.

By the way, is Snoke really that tall or is it the telegraph making him out to be that size? To me, he were the worst part of the film.

Oh absolutely, I believe that they chose that actress specifically for her visual likeness (like, eyes) to the Skywalkers/Amidala.

I'm pretty sure Finn is force-sensitive, he felt it and heard the screams when Starkiller base destroyed all the systems, like old man Ben did when Alderaan got destroyed.

For me the last scene of the movie said it all. Rey Skywalker. Only thing missing was "Dad?" Also Leia and Rey moments, too random for them not to know each other.

Also, when this movie is out on DVD/Blu-Ray, I hope someone will make a gif of Kylo Ren throwing that tantrum in the prison cell, and the two Stormtroopers who clearly heard him yell for guards, but silently decide that this is someone else's problem and walk off.

Smartest. Stormtroopers. Ever.

The Dark side is like a drug, the more heinous acts you commit the stronger you get, more power. It's a rush

Midichlorians aren't involved with anything except allowing yout body to sense the force and creating force ghosts. Oh and clearly passing the force through bloodline which is absolutely undeniable now.

Maz Kanata even hinted at her being a Skywalker, first the lightsaber belonged to Vader then Luke and is now calling out to Rey.
Yeah that's right. That was a clear hint.

That was just so hilarious. I love the temper Kylo have in him.

I also wonder if Han named his son after Ben Kenobi. Probably.

maybe it's already been discussed (this thread moves too quick)

but, how clear does it make the villains motivations in this movie? does Snoke and Kylo have a good reason for doing what they do other than "we're the bad guys"?

After being missing for 10 years, Leia sends Rey to see her brother instead of going herself? It's pretty obvious, to Leia the person he needs to see most is his own daughter.

Which means somewhere in the Empire remake..I mean, episode 8...we'll get a "I am your father" moment.

Which also means we'll probably get a falling to the dark side moment in film 9. Like I said earlier, Kylo is going to tempt Rey into joining him, citing their shitty abandoning parents.

I'm guessing Luke left Rey's mom to go off and form his academy, not knowing he had a child. The Order feels the force with Rey and attacks her home, kills her mom, and somehow Han rescues her. So like a scruffy Hagrid, Han takes her to Tat...Jakku...and keeps her there, safe with someone else who probably was killed off, and leaves the Falcon with her. Just like Obi-wan and Luke, except minus the space ship.

POETRY.

I kind of saw it coming.

I mean, Vader actually invited Luke to "strike him down" to complete his path to the dark side.

This is basically what Kylo Ren did.

Rey isn't falling to the dark side.

While it would make for an interesting narrative, Disney will never let that happen in a million years. They love their hero princesses. They've backed a convoy of Brink's trucks full of money up to their banks on the back of that theme and it isn't going to change.

This is seriously my favorite Star Wars film I think. It might be that it is so fresh and it'll fall in my ranking later on but for now The Force Awakens is my favorite.

Damn, just saw the first moment of the Han death.

Damn. I was hoping for something more like "slash" "argh" "nooooo". This is more brutal, emotional, I fucking cringed. The look on Han's face is going to break the fucking world's heart.

What is the whole deal with Snoke? Why is he the highest commander? I understand he wants to rule the galaxy, find Luke and destroy the Jedi but everybody wants that. Why are Kylo and Hux even obeying to Snoke?

So I didn't exactly have high expectations for this film, but I decided to go see it anyway.

While I understand they wanted to keep the pace fast to avoid fatigue like in the prequel trilogy but I felt as though the film makes the audience ask a lot of questions(typical Abrams style) before rushing on to the next part of the plot without providing an answer. I am aware that a lot of these questions will probably be answered in the sequels but it still feels quite unsatisfying to leave the cinema with more questions than answers. I am aware that they have to balance the fact that they have to keep the film relatively short as well.

They really wasted an actor of the calibre of Max von Sydow on the part he played. Maybe he will show up in flashback form in the later episodes.

Other than that it was pretty much a retread of EpIV. Which is a good thing I think. Also I feel it would be unfair to say that the film leans too heavily on nostalgia given that the entire sequel trilogy production is one long nostalgia party, but it certainly bears thinking about at least. I think they need to meaningfully make changes to the formula for the next one. If there is anyone that can do that, it's Rian Johnson, so I'm looking forward to what he comes up with.

Cos he's the Emperor and they're Vader and Tarkin and this is just a remix of the original.

That is... Not what I expected.

And am I the only one who likes at least the idea of General Hux? Maybe it's because I've been playing SWTOR, and Imperial Agents are WAY cooler than Sith.
Is The Old Republic canon to the Star Wars storyline?

I tried installing it on my PC but it won't let me sadly.

no, SWTOR is the only piece of old EU (which is not canon) that is still running, it is an exception in thar regard.

but that should not be a reason to play or not play it.
