Wait, who's role was Andy Serk?
Exactly. It's really weird that Andy once again is played a character that looks like Gollum here. The dude has amazing range, and I also had to be told that Andy was in the film.
Wait, who's role was Andy Serk?
Snoke.
Uh, definitely his worst performance out of the ones I've seen.Snoke.
prophecy. bah. Who delivered this prophecy? Why do all the Jedi consider it accurate? From how long ago are we talking here? That death is a hard pill to swallow but it was handled gloriously. The shots and lighting were fucking incredible. Not sure how the saber fight ranks but it was very good and unique in that setting and I didn't feel like it was too short or anything.
Anyway Rey is OP as fuck which I liked, maybe they're setting her up to be who the prophecy is referring to and her know-how was interesting. Very curious to see where that goes.
Assuming Snoke is a giant, can expect some Attack on Titan action with lightsabers?
Could you imagine a giant lightsaber smacking and swinging away at Rey and Luke.
It's gonne be like some Raiden vs Metal Gear Ray shit lol.

I'm pretty sure that it'll be like the Wizard of Oz and just be a big show for a little guy, but fuck, a 30 foot tall dark force master would be pretty baller
I thought Kylo staring at Finn on Jakku, and Kylo knowing the number/name during the escape sequence meant something.
Might have been just an emotional read by Kylo, but I think it was more hinting at him noticing something different about Finn.
I thought it was great that he aspired to live up to Vader's standards and ambitions, and in the end he's probably going to get his wish, now that his body is going to be totally in shambles before he gets rebuilt and forced into a suit a la Vader.
Yeah the map stuff kind of didn't make any sense? Did I miss something or why did Luke leave a map in the first place
Snoke isn't new, at least not in the SW universe. He just went by a different name prior and worked behind the scenes. No way is he not Plagueis.I really liked the movie. I'm seeing it again on Sunday, but nothing stood out as particularly awful, and it's light years ahead of the prequel trilogy.
edit: Snoke seemed a bit lame to me though. I just felt they were trying to hard to make a new big bad guy.
He wasn't in that bad of shape, was he? I know he took a few pretty bad hits but it didn't seem like anything that would require extensive repair work. Just making sure I didn't somehow miss something there. He had the shot from Chewie, the one from Rey to his arm which was probably the worst and then the scar he'll have on his face.
Did anyone else think Snoke was a huge ass guy before the hologram phased out? I sat there thinking woah, look at this guy. How in the hell are they going to take him down. Should have realised it was just a hologram, but it didn't have those telltale signs.
What don't you guys get? I'm not saying people shouldn't die or bad things shouldn't happen or our heroes shouldn't kill anybody.
Han shooting Greedo is cool. Leia strangling Jabba is cool. A million Stormtroopers getting blasted is cool. Because all of that is black and white good guys fighting bad buys.
I don't consider brainwashed child soldiers necessarily bad guys. So that introduction is off putting for such a previously simple black and white universe. Saying "I don't think these movies are for you" is frankly stupid because this element is out of place from the previous films.
I'm calmHe had like 2 scenes that were roughly 2 minutes long.
Calm yer tits yoshi.
He was a plot device in this film. Could he have been used better? Sure. But we're asking questions about him for the sequels, so he served his purpose.
Assuming Snoke is a giant, can expect some Attack on Titan action with lightsabers?
Blew away every expectation I had.
What a great movie. Safe? Sure. But wonderfully executed and hit all the right notes.
I knew all along that Finn was a decoy and Rey was the force sensitive person, but I did NOT expect her to duel Kylo Ren like that. GOD DAMN
I thought the exact same thing haha, glad I wasn't alone.
I actually expect him to be a tiny fuck who just projects a huge image of himself.
Like the Wizard of Oz.
Obviously balance hasn't been achieved. I would say so if it were not for the fact that apparently as soon as Luke tried to restart the Jedi order that things went batshit again.
Hmm. I was in the front row and I assumed it was us missing a couple audio channels. Did they really jack up the audio mixing that bad?
I'm calm. Looking forward to what they do with him in VIII and IX. I'm just salty Ren wasn't the big baddie.
I wanted luke to reach out and force-take the light saber, in an "ok. Im back." kind of way.Explained everything I had to say perfectly. I literally have nothing to bring up you brought up every single point I wanted to point out.
My only real complaint and what kept this movie from being perfect was the pandering to nostalgia.
I AM YOUR SON
3rd Death Star
Still. Just. Why. COULD HAD BEEN PERFECTION.
Oh and the ending and the camera spin was very anti-climatic and need at least a one liner of a "Hi" or "Your here." "It's time." "Daughter." Something!
I'm calm. Looking forward to what they do with him in VIII and IX. I'm just salty Ren wasn't the big baddie.

- I don't think Finn is force sensitive at all.

Good movie overall. I did find the fact that Kylo got injured a little too convenient to downgrade him considering he stopped a phaser blast with the force earlier. Was legit shook when he killed Han, I kinda felt something was going to happen but still wasn't prepared for when it actually happened and Han touching his face, that hit me hard.
Nice Luke reveal, hopefully he'll actually do something next movie and just take on a mentor role. I want to see someone of Luke's power actually fight and use the force.
If anything, I'd guess that Ben Solo is actually going to help defeat the First Order.
Yeah same. Had no idea that giants existed in Star Wars lol.
Kylo FREEZES A BLASTER ROUND in mid air and can't deflect one later on the bridge? Maybe he was torn up about killing his father lol
So, did the First Order blow up Coruscant?
Because that's one of the few Star Wars planets I know by name.
So the Storm Trooper female captain was Gwendoline Christie (Brienne from GOT) but her role is now over? Seemed like a waste of the actress, especially given how easily she submitted.
I loved the movie but thinking back it did have something I really disliked... Maz.
Didn't like her being full CG, didn't like her look and didn't like her scene.
Wasn't Jar Jar bad or anything but for me the only really dislike.

They're setting him up for a redemption.
He was already hesitant and torn when killing Han, Snoke was vocal about him needing to let go of his past to truly ascend to the dark side of the force, and he's admiring Vader... Who had a cycle of good, to bad, to redemption.
Luke and/or Leia will turn him back to the light side.
If anything, I'd guess that Ben Solo is actually going to help defeat the First Order.
*Cough* Jacen and Yuuzhan Vahn *cough*
I'm actually starting to think that this won't be resolved with 2 more movies - I have a feeling these conflicts, relationships, and characters are going to grow and develop for far longer.
A central plot point may be resolved by the end of Episode IX, but I think Episode X (and beyond) are inevitable.
hopefully this wont happen. We need a evil Kylo that dies in the end fight against Rey Skywalker.
Follow me here, but I think they dropped the ball pretty hard with a great moment.
Kylo Removing His Mask Beef
Kylo takes of his mask during the Rey force mind fight for the first time. Most likely because they need to convey emotion as they're blasting bass at eachother and you can't see it.
However, I wish he kept the mask on for that scene, made it a little shorter and kept the face reveal of Kylo when he confronts Han as his son. At that time, Han sees his son for the first time in a long ass time, and the audience sees Kylo just as a kid...instead of a robot/deformed monster. The impact would have been waaaay more profound.
Kylo Ren is being set up for something great, but I hope it doesn't go the route of just straight up Vader-ing it and he kills Snoke and dies himself for redemption. That would be too much.
What was going on with the New Republic and the 'Resisitance' in this movie? Shouldnt they be one and the same?
