So what if Anakin had a sibling?

Her mother got "touched" by the naughty midichlorians again after he left... And his or her daughter is Rey. Its like poetry.

Saw this on Reddit.

LMFAO

To be fair, when he arrived on the planet, Ren sensed him immediately. So the force can definitely link people who aren't force sensitive with those who are, if they're close enough.

Oh, I know, I guess I just wasn't synonymizing sensing someone else's presence (or lack of a presence) with an actual "disturbance" in the Force.

A disturbance in the Force, at least to me, occurs when a Jedi or powerful force user dies, or switches allegiances...or something. The balance of the force is upset in some way. I suppose I thought this was separate that just sensing someone's presence.

Did I really like this movie?

Because I think I did. Not sure if I should let go of the cynicism.

I really hope the series goes in its own direction after this.

I don't know, I kind of didn't like that.

I was hoping we would see the rise of the First Order. In fact, I thought that's what this movie would be about.

I guess the Empire just continued it's ways after Palpatine and Darth Vader died?

I can see where your coming from. Yeah it would be nice have a bit more of an explanation on how that happened, but I like filling in the blanks with my own thoughts. I figure if the empire ruled nearly the entire galaxy, even though the Death Star II and Emperor being killed were huge blows, it's a galaxy. Rule would not collapse in a galaxy over some super weapon.

So yeah I assumed the emipre would try to continue without them after all they had setup from previous films.

I think Daisy Ridley was my favourite in terms of acting in this film, followed by John Boyega and Adam Driver. They were really well cast.

You just invent an extended Kenobi clan (since the force runs hot in bloodlines) - you don't need to make her Obi-Wan's kid.

"She's not Obi-wan's daughter...she's Obi-Wan's Jakku cousin's daughter!"

Being serious now, I'd rather have her be a Kenobi than a Skywalker. Don't matter how, find a way to make her a Kenobi.

I still think Oscar is a clone or something like that, I do not believe he survived the crash.

I'm happy that Isaac wasn't overused. It was really exciting to see his character again when he reappeared like halfway through the film, and might have been less so if he had more screen time.

What's with all the Finn hate? Dude is legit one of the best characters in this movie.

Kylo isn't a sith since he doesn't have those yellow eyes, maybe he's a double agent? Nah, but I'm sure he'll be redeemed since he hasn't really fallen like Vader had.

Also...
Han is alive, he'll be in episode IX.

27. “Rey tries to help by releasing the ship’s cargo (which appears to be livestock, potentially giant space pigs).”— Making Star Wars

29. “One banner features the ‘Boba Fett Symbol’ ... these banners appear above the heads of Finn, Rey, BB-8, and Han Solo as they enter what we can only assume is the headquarters of some nefarious criminal organization.” — SlashGear

These were in the movie. The Mandalore skull was totally one of the flags at Maz's castle.

Ridley was phenomenal. Driver and Ford were really good as well.

Yeah, guys and gals, I can't stop thinking about how much I hope this era gets six episodes instead of three. Fuck. There is so much potential ground to cover here. TFA was such setup.

One character that needs to be severely improved in Episode VIII is Snoke. And I mean improved in every possible way.

The CGI was bad, and the character was straight out of "Bad Guys 101". His mannerisms, facial expressions, intonations, and dialogue were all incredibly generic. Johnson needs to infuse some immediate depth into this character ASAP.

C'mon, Phasma didn't die in a fucking trash compactor. :P

That said, they should have used the character a bit more. Felt a bit of a waste. I really liked Moz though. Surprisingly meaty role.

I REALLY can't wait for VIII now. Probably my most anticapted SW movie ever because we don't really know where they're going with it.

I want to know why Ben/Kylo went to the dark side. At least with Anakin we found out he did it to save Padme's life. But how did Snoke turn Ben?

Yep, it is very much a thing already.

people are silly and mad Daisy isn't kissing them is all.

The fact that they didnt have a funeral for him or anything makes me believe this is true.
It just seems like they didnt give him his due respect.

They just kept on moving. I'd assume his ex and the rest of the Rebels did something eventually but they were busy saving the galaxy to stop for a funeral in the moments in the film.

I think Rey, Finn, and Kylo were all fantastic.

As is I said before, Kylo is exactly how Anakin should have been during his transition to the dark side. Just the right amount of angst, creepiness, and sensitivity. He's got tones of potential.

I agree with this, this was weakest part for me. He didn't actually need to be visually shown, a menacing voice would have been good enough Thank god he was a hologram though and not an actual giant, otherwise that would have been super weird.

Not sure what you are implying? But in TFA pretty much all that snow and the majority of the trees is digital btw.

I know. I don't think the snow looks good enough, I don't think any CG or fake powder snow I've seen does. The first thing I thought in the opening shot of Game of Thrones was "fake snow!". Anyway I meant to compare it with Hoth in Empire (since I mentioned that movie in the previous sentence, but it realise it was a bit unclear).

Come on now

:)

She literally did nothing except look cool and help the resistance by lowering the shields. Even Boba did more than her.

So much Phasma merch sold LOL.

She still has two movies left. I expect that she is going to be a big, driving force of the story. Last night in this thread, I predicted that she would at some point assume command of the First Order (that is, in place of normal-looking McGoo that reports to Snoke), and that Finn would lead a coup that gives us a Stormtroopers vs. Stormtroopers fight, with Finn leading one side and Phasma leading the other.

This is a fanfic tho

This is some vindictive ass shit.

They're a part of SW. They made integral changes and additions to the universe. Handwaving them away isn't going to solve anything.

And fetishizing the OT isn't helping either.

And that is really unfortunate.

Agreed. Shame becuase his voice in the teasers was so promising. He looked dumb and he really had nothing interesting to say. And just kind of talked like a regular bad guy. There wasn't any grand or foreboding cadence to his speech like even Palpatine in Empire.

Was reading GAF while sitting in the theatre waiting for previews to start and got spoiled by a kamikaze account, haha. Didn't bother me much, especially once I realized how early they foreshadowed such an event.

Anyway, movie was insane. Top 3 Star Wars film for me, for sure.
