So is Poe's resurface supposed to hint that he may not be who we think it is? Or did he just reappear and that's that?

They explained what happened. Poe said he was thrown clear of the wreckage and woke up that night. It's a little sloppy how we're supposed to just roll with him showing back up, but it's not too much of a stretch to assume how he got back to the Resistance.

I agree with the Poe/Finn argument. Some people are complaining that this all went 'too fast', but in the OT Han and Luke became buddies overnight too. The thing is, Boyega and Isaac sold it. It didn't come off as fake or forced, these two instantly have a good dynamic together.

Plus, as he mentions in the vid, we didn't see this kind of chemistry in the prequels, so this Poe/Finn dynamic is something I loved, was handled well, and was missing in the prequels.

The quick bonding was the best part of all the relationship building in this movie. No unnecessary rivalry or drama, it was so refreshing and so fun.

It was way too fast. Luke and Han didn't even become friends until the end of ANH.

Finally I can enter on this topic

The movie is amazing, JJ is the best director the saga had, he really did it on his end. But I have to praise the team who made this movie specially Kathleen Kennedy she really assembled a team that transmit love for the material.

I had so many trills over the movie, the falcon escape from jakku, the x-wings battles, the lightsaber duel. Was also an emotional movie where the actors conveyed those emotions, excellent casting. Also to praise the way they handled the exposition, they let some things to us to interpret like the correlation of forces between Republic, Resistance and First Order.

My only complain would be the bland soundtrack John Williams did, come on he is capable of best.

Anyone feel the same as me?

I planned to to collect Kylo Ren toy & figure after finish the movie but when I finished it I lost all my urge to buy anything about him completely.

Well, he is not a bad character but not cool at all,

What happened to Poe is the exact same thing that happened to Finn as shown on screen, only some hours later. He got auto-ejected from the fighter and wasn't caught in the wreckage.

Yea I know but it felt a little too sloppy. Like was there any point in not showing him escape?

I'm still in denial over Han's death.

Intellectually I know it was a good idea, it parallels Obi Wan's death, it gives gravitas to the finale of movie, Han's character arc needed a conclussion specially given Ford's age etc.

Emotionally though, they just KILLED Han, we'll not be seeing him again in VIII-IX and that makes me extremely sad, specially seeing they portrayed him well and Ford was (IMO) truly great.

R.I.P. friend.

I hadn't planned on getting any Kylo Ren merch, but what transpired in the movie wouldn't sway me if I had. The fact that he is a good character makes him cool enough in my book. Now if I had purchased shit load of Captain Phasma merch before the movie I'd probably be a little annoyed.

Just the surprise of seeing him show back up, I guess. It didn't really work, though. My theater had no reaction to seeing him alive in that X-Wing.

The next film needs not Poe/Finn bromance. I think Poe has more of a Han Solo presence with his optimism, cockiness and being daily likeable. Finn is more defined by having principles and sticking to them. He's the moral core of the film so I don't get people saying Finn is Han's replacement.

Is Finn the moral core? He wanted to jet to the outer rim as soon as possible.

Was that what happened?

I assumed he just woke up disoriented. He took off his jacket because it was binding him somehow, and wandered off until he got his wits back. Because there's no ejection mechanism that can really explain him losing his jacket like that.

Yeah, he probably just managed to steal another ship or something. He wouldn't necessarily be a prime target for the Order either, they were after the droid at that point.

The Force willed it.

Were there Y-Wings in the movie? It wouldn't surprise me at all if I missed them in the hectic battle scenes, but I don't recall seeing one.

I saw it for the second time tonight, so I had more time to pay attention to details. There were no Y-Wings during the assault, only X-Wings. Which I thought was strange. If you're going to bombard a site you want Y-Wings in the mix. In fact I didn't see any A-Wings or B-Wings in the movie, either; the Alliance only seemed to have X-Wings, and a paltry few at that. They seem to be in even worse shape than the first three movies. I don't really understand what happened in the 30 years since ROTJ. If the Empire has fallen, where's the Republic's army? How is the First Order getting the money to build Star Destroyers and planet Death Stars?

LMAO. The truth!

I love the character. I love that he rages and cuts up rooms and chairs and the stormtroopers be like "shit, he's raging again, better go!". It shows he's unhinged and highlights why Luke most likely failed in training him. He can't control his emotions.

Props to Adam Driver. I didn't mind him taking off the mask either(though I do like it and the voice synthesizer he uses). He's a great actor and it was good to be able to see his emotion while fighting.
His tantrums were awesome, hacking up the whole room like a total crazy person. Great moment with those two stormtroopers.

I liked how Kylo's voice still sounded fairly impressive after he took off his mask. Driver was well cast.

I'm pretty sure that's what he said. I'm honestly not sure how the jacket came off. Did he remove it before getting into the TIE fighter and have it sitting in his lap or something?

Who thinks the movie opens with a throwback to Yoda/Luke in Empire, With Luke in the midst of training Rey in the ways of The Force?
That would be one way to bypass some awkward dialogue.

The next movie will have Rey leaving Luke's training halfway to rescue Finn and Poe who are captured by Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren somewhere. Maybe on the way to Snoke's palace.

I guess it's inevitable that we'll find JJ Abramisms as we continue to scrutinize the movie, but atleast the stuff so far is fairly minor like a missing jacket. I can deal with a Jacket plothole, especially as it serves a purpose for Finn's character development. If this is the worst Abramism we find, I'll be happy.

Agreed. Though now I'm trying to picture the wreck that somehow removes Poe's jacket and throws him clear. That must have been a doozy.

maybe luke swore a vow of silence and will never talk this trilogy
or he forgot how to speak and speaks like yoda now

It's weird. I want to say that characters like Captain Phasma/General Hux/Dameron were underused and we didn't get enough of them to see their role in the movie but I can't cause obviously we'll see their potential (hopefully) in the future films.

Like my problems with the movie will probably be fixed in the next one so I don't want to judge it too soon, but I think that goes against a really fine film. A New Hope feels complete but you can see the story continuing. This one felt incomplete and the story needs to continue.

Edit: Also WTF with The Raid actors? I don't care for the characters they played but I want them to come back because if not that is the biggest waste of potential ever.

I think he just found a way to escape on his own and that's that. He's shown to be a resourceful character so I don't think we really need the details.

yeah, i think it was just a way to get him away from Finn, so that Finn has time to meet Rey.

If Poe had been around, Rey would've never joined them, most likely. She'd have stayed on Jakoo.

All I know is I would've expected Luke to look thin like Obi-Wan, but he's a rather portly Jedi. That Jedi Temple must have quite the buffet.

there is probably not a lot of room for exercise.
I imagine Obi Wan had to walk a lot to buy food, cigarettes, the newspaper etc.
oh and creeping on Luke of course

Do we reckon the Seven Samurais of Ren shot in the rain is in the past or the future? I didn't even consider the latter until my friend brought it up and I see no reason why it couldn't be.

Didn't she see Ren kill Luke?

I need to watch that scene in slow mo with all the quick cuts.

I watched it last night.

My heart was pounding fron start to finish.

Absolutely epic, beautiful, and everything ans more that I wanted.

Bravo.

Seeing it in 3D was worth it for that shot that comes outta nowhere of the star destroyer looming large, front and center. It was kinda horrifying.

I don't think so; the only flashback sequence I saw of Luke was him with R2-D2.

edit: Speaking of R2, it kinda bugs me that everyone refers to BB-8 by its full name, every time. No nickname like 'BB' or '8'. It sounds awkward. 'R2' sounds great; it's a shortened name that is what people would naturally say. I imagine if they said 'R2-D2' in every scene of every movie.

It's hot on Tatooine, man. The lbs just melt away.

I sincerely doubt it. They wouldn't put a moment like that in a flashback/forward sequence and spoil it. It may have been the Jedi Luke was training, but it wasn't Luke. I'm going to try to pick up on anything I missed during this scene when I see it again later today.

I thought straight after that it cut to Ren slicing someone down.

I interpreted it that way at least.

I really need to see the movie again.

Pretty much this :p

I figured that scene will pop up later but she'll arrive and block the shot.

As others have said it's not Luke. They're wearing a helmet that oddly resembles Constable Zuvio's or the Padawan bowls shown in the prequels which does imply this was a flashback to the Jedi temple. However, I don't buy that Kylo is that much older than Rey. They've made him out to look real young, which could just be a twist moment where we reveal he's actually quite older. But, that diminishes his younger, temperamental portrayal. In conclusion, I just wanna see the Knights of Ren get a fight scene okay :P ? Kanjiklub got shafted, we need some ruthless close quarters combat that involves more than lightsabres like Finn against the baton-trooper.

It kind of fits actually if Luke is depressed and basically given up on life.

Obi never seemed to suffer much in his time much in Tattoine.

In fact in the radio drama he tells Solo The Force gave him everything he needed in his time in Tatooine and he wanted for nothing.

The only spoiler I knew going into the movie was Solo's death but it didn't affect me because I've felt that was going to happen ever since the second trailer. But I loved the way they handled it. It's just crazy to think he's dead now.

Just saw it and left kinda disappointed. It mirrors A New Hope way too much, making it predictable and dull. But on the positive side, it was very well executed and it had some really funny moments/dialogue.
The new characters are really good though, I hope the next one will be a bit more on the original side.
