I heard Miss Colombia doesn't understand english very well so she was a little confused on what was going on, dont know if its true.
 
This is so odd, for years whenever I've watched these pageants I've wondered "What if?" they actually crowned the wrong winner. But you never believe they would get wrong the one part of the contest you can't get wrong. And then it happens, and it wasn't a 5 second instant realization of the mistake, it's 5 minutes long.
 
Already seen this happen on Australia's top model (clip is on youtube). I think that was worse and more awkward than this. Sucks for the girls, but there's worse things going on in the world than some beauty pageant.

In every pic you see of Miss Colombia at that moment it shows her in newfound confusion and in incredibly sad heartbreak.. God damn look at her. Jesus, she's like oh wow don't take the flowers too, I'm sure she was waaaaaaay more embarrassed than Harvey was... That's saying something. I know it's a beauty pageant and all but that was some real shit that went down on there.

And hate on Harvey all you want, I know I might certainly do given his stance on certain things but let me tell you, he is embarrassed beyond words. He knew he fucked up big time when he came back out and handled the situation the best anyone could. On this you gotta show mercy to the dude lol... This was brutal.

If he was supposed to call out the 1st runner up before the winner, why did all the celebration effects go off? Wouldn't the staff in control notice he was presenting in the wrong order?

He could call the winner or the 1st runner up. It doesn't have to be the 1s runner up is, or miss universe 20XX is..
 
Watching the video, the jaded part of me feels like this was staged to get valuable "social media buzz" drawing attention to Miss Universe.

Also someone mentioned the teleprompter said Colombia, not sure if it's true or not, who knows lol...

It's also possible that none of the production staff actually knows the results. Maybe the final results were only known by the auditors who did the official tabulations.
 
I think the staff fucked up and steve took the blame for it. Like seriously, they couldnt tell him that he read it wrong before crowning her? Its 2015 ffs.
 
Before Harvey returned to apologize I wonder if the execs thought to just burn the card and make Colombia the winner. Maybe the truth would never get out.

I still think he is cool, feel bad for him because what happened was not a good look

I seriously doubt this. This thing may be a thing of the past to many Americans, but it's still huge elsewhere. Look at Colombia alone. If their candidate brings home the title, they're tax-exempt for life. Not for a year or until their term ends. For life! I also doubt Miss Colombia will allow herself to be humiliated that way in front of a worldwide audience.

I'm not saying that the organizers themselves didn't plan all this to drum up publicity, but I really don't think these two ladies would allow themselves to be played that way. It just doesn't add up.
 
yeah this competition is becoming more and more irrelevant. this is staged as fuck at the expense of the contestants. absolutely despicable

He has a very popular nationally syndicated radio show so you can get as much of him as you like every morning. He also has a day time talk show as well as Family Feud.

Point being there will be no shortage of Steve Harvey any time soon.
 
I'm imagining that USA is trying to explain to Philippines during the entire debacle "See, in our country, Steve Harvey fucks up like this all the time"

Some stuff is a little step her but Steve definitely isn't some evil man. I came in expecting some Bill Cosby stuff. I do agree on a couple of things being a little insensitive though.

I'm not some staunch Harvey fsn butbi enjoy a lot of his comedy. He's not some cold hearted bastard.

I just don't know why that even entered the conversation of this thread earlier on. I'm referring to the bashing. It has nothing to do with this.
