I'm stil surprised that the resistance would not send at least a squadron to go after Luke. Considering they went through so much trouble to get the map. Instead they send Chewie and Rey, who they just met.

Well considering they are literally all that is left of Republic military...

did donnie yen or that other asian guy in this Rouge One photo make a cameo in the movie? when the 2 gang confronted Han Solo before the alien attack.
look like the same outfits.

What did he want Han to be doing?

The biggest star of the movie wants out of the franchise. Isn't that the saddest thing in the world?

uhhh... that happens alot.

Maybe he felt it was appropriate for Han to die in RotJ. Maybe he didn't want to keep up with doing two more of these things when filming TFA?

My guess is that Leia could sense the force in Rey and thought it would be best for her to go to Luke, or that Leia knows Rey's backstory and there's more to it.

Obviously they are going to start Episode 8 with an update on our favorite alien, Jar Jar Binks
In all seriousness, I want Jar Jar back but he needs to be super-intelligent

I still believe that Finn has force potential, the scene at the begining when Kylo Ren feels his "change", and stares at him, that had to be a shift in the force...
Gaf please...

I agree. He could be in the same regard as Princess Leia is(Having the potential, but not really expressing signs of force powers) throughout the films. Kylo sensed it in him at the village, his brainwash literally wore off when the force...
awakened
Plus the old alien lady seemed to have some questions about him. Heres to hoping that theres more than Just Luke/Rey as jedi, and more than just Kylo/Snoke as "Sith". Either way I'm excited, and its nice to be blind to what they'll write next.

As long as the writers have the time they need to write, and as long as the characters' actions are driven by their genuine motivations, I'm fine with not having the entire arc determined already.

I'm reminded of Breaking bad and how the writers had, by comparison to many other shows, a luxurious amount of time to just think and process and feel their way through, and how they would always ask, "well what does this this character want?" to help determine what happens next.

Yah. Writing ahead of time is overrated IMO. And this is form someone who does a ton of creative narrative work.

Having a basic skeleton of what you want to achieve is a good idea. But beyond that, it's really not different to write it before hand or after - it's still made up. A lot of times seeing it in action helps you modify and create a better narrative.

People like to have this idea that the narrative is "real" and "locked in" ahead of time. Hearing it's being "made up" makes them feel like it's fake. But it's all fake, it's all made up.

I think people are just scared that it's going to be mysteries brought up without answers - ala Lost. Which is understandable. But it definitely doesn't have to be that way.

Yeah idk even why I get that vibe but watching the movie I never really got the feeling what we were seeing was accurate with Snoke. Maybe it is but I still feel like he's hiding something. Not necessarily that he is a different character but that isn't his real appearance

Just listened to it. I do recall the opening melody used a few times, such as when Rey is leaving the star destroyer she's scavenging at the beginning, and it's good. And there's another bit at the 1:00 mark that was used a few times. All the rest just wanders around too much - was any of it in the film?

Rey's theme is integrated into the score throughout the whole movie. I didn't notice in the theater (the mix seemed off) but if you listen to the full soundtrack it shows up constantly.

I did like that he lost badly each time. It kind of made it that much more noble, and made his terror at facing Kylo that much more real. He got beat by stormtrooper, here comes a force user. Have fun!

You know, even though Finn's nobility and courage was often played to be kinda goofy(volunteering to take down the shields w/o knowing how to actually take down the shields, constantly holding Rey's hand to help her run in spite of her obviously not needing it, etc.), I found it rather endearing. He was like a hero's hero, even if he was uncertain and didn't succeed on every occasion. I just like him.

I could see Ren come back to the light, but after lots of damage. Like loads of damage. More than death star levels. Hunch that's one big character might go down and Ren might switch, not like that though

No idea, kinda dissapointed he was a cg character honestly. A guy with makeup would have seemed more scary or intimidating to me.

I have a feeling that hologram might not represent what we will see of Snoke in the next movies.

They could pull an Emperor and replace the woman / chimp / CGI with an actor for his in-person debut.

...then replace him in TFA with the actor in the special edition, coming to theatres 2035.

Agreed with all of this. I liked Finn alot. Hell I like the entire new cast. Thought they were all excellent

Me too and this was really the most important priority in the entire movie. I like the new cast, a lot!

Exactly. Which is why I was so baffled to see a couple posters complain that he was a joke/chump character.

The guy was all heart and hero.

Its entirely possible that Snoke will be altered in some way. He's universally considered the weakest link as he was presented. He wasn't a favorite by literally anyone.

Pure speculation here, but some people were imagining that once Kylo completes his training he betrays Snoke and teams up with Rey to take him down. Redemption and all that.

I think it would be far more interesting to see Kylo betray and kill Snoke and become the ultimate leader/badguy tbh.

I almost wonder if Snoke looks almost....normal? Like he projects himself as this big scary evil misfigured thing as a form of intimidation.

I agree. I mean, I love Rey and she's badass. But Finn is more the kind of guy I would want to hang with. He's all heart, he's us. He's your everyman that decided to give it a go and actually makes a difference. Respect.

What if Snoke is really tiny and uses the hologram to seem bigger than he actually is. Like Maz.

How did Maz even get the light sabre? Something tells me she knows Snoke since she lived so long

Harrison Ford basically said Star Wars and all the characters were turned into a big consumer market and it seemed to me like he was personally offended by how commercialized it got given how much he invested into Han Solo for the first two films. Once it got so commercialized he wanted out but they didn't let him out by keeping him alive. He even has gone so far as to refer to the fans as "customers" which he swears is not meant in a derogatory way. He was quick to say he truly adores those who have given him the means to live his lifestyle and earn the money he has, but at the same time that is the business of Star Wars now and the fans are consumers. Now after all these years is it any wonder if Ford gave them an ultimatum for Han to die in this film?

Hell yes, and also, the way Maz handed him the lightsaber..."you already have a weapon"
That lady saw something in him.

I really hope they go practical for Snoke in VIII. His design wasn't great but at least he wasn't that stupid looking Muun species. Also it can't be coincidence that the scarring on his jaw and the top of his head mirrors Vader. I pray it's not a Vader clone, especially with those Christensen rumors, but they must have known what they were doing.

I think he's going in the opposite direction of redemption. Anakin started at the top of morally good and worked his way to the bottom, then at the beginning of the original trilogy, Vader was at the bottom and work his way back up. I think Ren is still working his way to the bottom, and depending the pacing, he may not have enough time to walk it back.

An original Sith(the species).

Original Sith were red with Davy Jones face though.

Did anyone else get annoyed when they used "sun" instead of "star". Sun is the name of our star damn it! Get your own star!

Just saw it, J.J. did a fine job. Only thing that bothered me and it may have been discussed already. I would have thought Kylo would have destroyed Finn, fight wouldn't have last 10 secs in my opinion. Anybody with me on this one?
