btw does anyone else feel like all the plot speculation we're saying sounds like BioWare choices and consequences?

If Kylo kills Luke I'll be upset, Snoke is the only one seemingly up to the task for how much they've hyped him. Especially since Kylo was losing to Rey and Finn (even if he was injured). Luke should be able to destroy Kylo after having all this time to hone his skills in isolation.

Luke might not have been honing his skills tho. Might have just been having a pity party with ghost Ben and Yoda about how you have to go into exile whenever a Darkside user hurts your feelings.

Do we even know if Snoke is force sensitive or not yet?

Snoke will kill luke then kylo and rey will team up for the most epic duel.

Im 50 / 50 on if Kylo stays Sith. Part of me thinks he for sure will just be evil but part of me thinks his comments about the light side calling to him and his struggles is foreshadowing a turn. Not sure which way I lean yet

I think it would be better if Kylo overcomes and kills Snoke and takes power.

Goes from poser to the real deal motherfucker

How can he stay Sith, when he isn't one now and isn't training to be one?

A Ren is not a Darth.

What him and Snoke got going on is a different interpretation of the Dark Side, we don't know much more than that yet

I have a feeling Luke will have to an Obi-Wan disappearing trick sometime in trilogy. You know why?
Because it's like poetry, it rhymes.

Im pretty sure Kylo is now too far down the dark side path after the ending of this movie. His struggle towards the light ended when he killed Han.

He'll finally be ready to face the Elite 4.
Leaked still from the end of Episode IX

Anyone think its possible Kylo kills Luke? Or would that be too OP him taking out both Luke and Han

Maybe, but that'll be a tough one. That is no where near the Rey and Ren match up.

In a stand up fight, Kylo is toast.

I think if they really want to do it they should make Kylo do it in an underhanded way. I'm hating (in the good sense) the character now, but I think I would love to loath him. Will make leveled Rey kicking the snot out of him all the sweeter.

I don't think that luke will die during the trilogy, something will happen that pushes him into the background but I think that much like how han was a protagonist in this movie Luke will be in the next.

nah man, Rey beat Kylo once already. He is about to train harder and beat her.

Kylo: Rey search your feelings you know it is true.

Rey: but it can't be...why did you kill our father.

I hope we dont get back to back films of Kylo getting beat down by Rey. He needs to hold his own with someone and maybe even win if he's going to be the big time villian

that is what I am saying! Once his training is complete he is going to rekt Rey who in turn will be saved by Luke. Luke will have a talk with his nephew about vader then escape.

edit: Rey is going to leave her training for Finn

Well this is the second act, the one that should end pretty tragically for the good guys, so some shit is defintely going down, so we can get to the victory in the third act. Although I wonder if they blew their load already by killing Han?

At this point I hope they don't go for some super huge swerve. Just make Rey a Skywalker a go about telling a good story with that backdrop. If they try to get to crazy with some sort of last or of nowhere twist, I feel like they could compromise the story.

I saw the film last week and I loved it more than I thought I would as I had low expectations. Seeing the OT technology with modern effects was a refreshing perspective and I think JJ's cinematography was excellent. I also liked that they setup a whole lot of unknowns/mysteries so fans can speculate what happened between ROTJ and TFA (and Snoke's identity). JJ obviously bringing his LOST cred to a Galaxy Far Away.

I didn't think much of the new characters prior to the film but I immediately fell in love with Rey and Finn after, although I thought Finn went out like a bit of a chump in the end which I didn't like - I would've preferred if he and Chewie were fighting Stormtroopers elsewhere while Rey & Kylo were battling. Rey really grew on me even though she was a bit of a Mary Sue her background and the fact that she was abandoned and had to scavenge to survive make you glad that things turn around in a big way for her! Plus it's refreshing having a OP female character in Sci-fi/Fantasy for a change rather than getting another damsel in distress - the fact that she was able to escape herself emphasizes this. Finn was a bit all over the place but his coolness and comic relief really grew on me - I really want to see what he has in store in future films and John Boyega is just so likable I can't think of anyone that hated him! Still not feeling Kylo and Poe though but they could grow in the next films. It was nice seeing Han & Leia again and I felt emotional seeing the look on his face when he saw Kylo taking Rey :(. His death though was pretty obvious but still very sad.

My only complaints are (even though it didn't ruin the film for me): 1. The retread of ANH storyline almost exactly - I wish they had deviated the story a bit and maybe have the Starkiller Base/Planet survive but just get badly damaged or something. After JJ retread Wrath of Khan I was fearful TFA would be as bad as Into Darkness but I'm glad the characters were able to deflect from the repeated story. 2. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of world building: as much as Lucas was terrible with directing & dialogue he was great at world building especially with creating new planets, aliens etc. I think they should've kept him on in that capacity at least. I mean we have yet another desert planet, another ice planet and the rebels are based on a generic jungle world in a temple again. The reason the OT couldn't go crazy with planets and aliens was most likely budget and technology constraints of the time which this film didn't have. I can understand JJ playing it safe but having unusual alien locations won't hurt the franchise and adds to the richness of the Star Wars universe which made me a fan in the first place.

Overall a great and exciting start to the new trilogy and looking forward to see how they take these characters forward in the future films.

Snoke is a circus master and Ren is just his funniest clown. Sith they are not.

Hopefully something other than TIE fighters. And hopefully something other than X-Wings will be doing the shooting.

I want to see a large scale ship battle against a brand new Super Star Destroyer. Multi part battle, different fleets engaging various parts, etc. No more stationary planetary killers pls.

Technically we dont know yet. Sith may be involved. We know absolutely nothing of Snoke. But yes I see what you are saying

One thing I never was clear on is, what does it mean to "bring balance to the force" anyway?

I feel like that prophecy gets all kind of weird interpretations... I feel like it's going to make a come back.

Like, the Light ruled for centuries and then Anakin brought the Sith to dominance... Was that not "restoring the balance"? Or Luke coming and removing the Sith, is that "balance"? Wouldn't you need equal parts Dark and Light in coexistence to really be balanced?

That's what I think maybe Kylo comes in.

He isn't a Sith, it's not about a rule of 2... Snoke is some awkward ancient Dark being who interprets the prophecy another way than the Sith do, his Knights of Ren are all Dark worshipping force users and he's on a mission to destabilize the Galaxy or some such to be revealed motive... And Kylo is actually the embodiment of the "balance" - he is both equal parts Light and Dark, Snoke knows this and wants to use it. This is even implied in the visual diction that's canon.

Anyway I never understood how the Jedi so black and white thought they meant he would bring balance would destroy the dark side. Seems like a thin reading to me.

Someone pointed out to me that Chewie picking up Hans Jacket was a foreshadowing of his death ala Obi-Wan and his remaining robe after Vader takes him out.

What do you think?

Yes, this really can't be emphasized enough. We aren't dealing with Sith here. Snoke and Kylo are something different.

I'd think that Snoke showed Kylo some ancient force user stuff that predated the distinction of a light and dark side and that's where he got the lightsaber.

Either that or he was fanboying so hard that he cobbled together a lightsaber to try and make one that looked like Vader's.

Yeah, I really need to see General Leia in action.

Her experience as a tactician goes way back.

Also, it's not something that happens often in these movies.

Only Ep III has really scratched the itch of a modern SW space battle

Not sure if this article has been posted but it breaks down a lot of problems with the story and how fans have turned a blind eye to the problems bc it's Star Wars and bc of the nostalgia.
