What time zone does Steam uses its days in? I woke up after the sales started yesterday at local 7PM and wanted to get a new set of three cards for the day, but apparently it's still "today" according to Steam.

It's still "today" for 4 hours more (that's when Steam changes the day)

No One is buying Vampire: the Masquerade: Bloodlines and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of Earth...

Gaf, I Am Disappointed !

Because everyone should own them already

Yep. Steam always counts a day from that time. Basically the time we would have gotten new dailies in the past. (RIP)

Steam newcomers!

I searched through some spares I had and put together what I think is the perfect Steam starter pack. It's 5 of the best indies on Steam:

  • Risk of Rain
  • Fez
  • Bastion
  • FTL
  • Mark of the Ninja LIMBO

If you're new and need a place to start, send me a PM (so it doesn't get lost in this pace of this thread) and I can give you a code, some codes, all codes, whatever.

I think I have 2 Fez, but only 1 of the others.

Ok, thanks to you talked me out of buying The Cave. I also talked myself out of buying Massive Chalice, what with XCOM 2 coming soon.

So now I'm looking at Dungeon of the Endless and Endless Legend.. Should I buy the vanilla editions or fork out for the Crystal/Emperor editions?

Final Question, how is Planetary Annihilation: Titans for scratching that RTS itch? I know it was shit at first release, but the standalone expansion made it better?

Basically all of the Endless Legend DLC is very good. Except maybe the soundtrack if you aren't into that. If it's something you see spending a lot of time with I think throwing down the extra $10 or whatever would be worth it.

I cant be the only person whos queue has been nothing but survival sandbox trash and C tier zombie games, right? Like ive gone through 4 queues now, thats 44 titles, maybe like 5 of them were games i would actually want to buy

sadly, now im waiting around for other storefronts to update their dailies to see if I can get some games from my wishlist : / Maybe Life is Strange for <$10 and DS2SOTFS for <$15.

Meh.

Survival sandbox trash, C-tier zombie games, and MOBA garbo for me.

Damage so far:

Halfway
Deadnaut
D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die -Season One-
60 Seconds!
Subnautica
Dex
Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon
Renowned Explorers
Party Hard

Don't know about Legend but Dungeon's "fancy pack" comes with actual gameplay stuff, including one of the best characters in the game. I hear that character has been surpassed by an even better one in the latest DLC, though, so I don't know which one is better, but I do know that the character is amazing and a great help when you're just starting out. (His feature is that he's the best mechanic and you have to have one of those in your party if you want to survive.)

Survival sandbox trash, C-tier zombie games, and MOBA garbo for me.
For me, it keeps recommending popular big-budget games that everyone knows about... But 90% of what I play is indie games. Spot-on recommendations, Valve. I totally want to buy the latest Assassin's Creed, that's exactly like Binding of Isaac!

so far I've spent nothing this sale...and might keep it that way and just get Dragon's Dogma instead

Is it worth the extra money for the Dishonored GOTY over the base game? It's ~£4 difference and i'm cheap

well...GOTY has all of the DLC so it's up to you if that's worth ~£4 or not

please save damage lists till after the sale. a thread is created for folks to list their final purchases in solely for this. Otherwise, the thread is spammed with lists that no one is paying attention to and the lists themselves do not add anything to the conversation. Thanks!

How well does Dying Light hold up throughout? I know it's by the Dead Island devs, and one of my friends said those games ended up being really boring and monotonous after the first few hours. Tried the demo and it was pretty fun.

I guess my question should have been whether the DLC is good content? I don't want to get Arkham Knighted

The story is pretty....awful, but I'm about 10 hours in and still having fun parkouring and eviscerating zombies.

That's been my experience near enough every time I used it. Surely they can have better data on what I like to play then what's bringing up this garbage.

Lists aren't inherently bad, they highlight games that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Microsoft filth is a least good for Halo/CoD. Supposedly.
Logitech is just straight up terrible across the board.
I'd actually rather use the Logitech controller than the 360 ones.

Of course, one steam controller, the Qanba Q4 and the DS3 are mine, so I don't have to :P

It stays fun for a very long time. Day-night cycle really spices up the gameplay.

those games get mentioned regardless. I've seen D4 mentioned more than a handful of times and every other page mentions that Ryse is $6.

Now, if list makers want to write a little blurb to let us know why they bought X game then the list actually serves a purpose as it informs others. Otherwise, though, it's just spam in the middle of an already busy thread. I mean what do you get out of this:

D4
KOTOR
RYSE
STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO
MURDERED SOUL SUSPECT

other than i bought them and that they're likely on sale (like 500 other things are), nothing is gleaned from this.

So, what's the general consensus then, is this a good steam sale? This is actually my first one so I have nothing to reference it to.

I think I might buy Undertale. I don't know if it'll get much cheaper than £5.50 considering how popular it is.

Still haven't really had a proper look at the sales other than going through the queue (which didn't give me any steam trading cards!).

Can someone tell me if Cities: Skylines is region restricted? I'm not sure if I'm reading the steamdb page correctly - but it seems it isn't restricted right?

I think it greatly depends on how attached you were to dailies/flash deals.
I find it somewhat relaxing to not feel compelled to check Steam every 8 hours.

The actual deals are in quite a few cases much better than I expected (e.g. PoE 60% off, which I'll continue to post ;)) and there are lots of games at the cheapest price they've ever been, so I don't think anyone can make a conclusive argument that it's objecively a bad sale.
