Looking for a shooter… (PS5)

I don't really have much experience or play
shooters that often. Closest would be Doom Eternal or Marvel Rivals.

I played modern warfare way back in the day with a buddy and that was fun but I have never purchased any call of duty or battlefield game or any shooter really.

But lately I'm getting a real itch to play a fps game, or at least have one in my gaming rotation.

What I'm looking for in a shooter is the following:

- Military setting, fairly modern at least- no WWII or old settings.
- no crazy unrealistic movement like flying and triple jumping off walls, doesn't have to be perfectly realistic or a simulation, but I don't want insane wacky movement.
- still has a fairly active player base, doesn't need to be a new game
- has to be on PS5
- i would prefer games with vehicles but it's not a must if other conditions are met.

Given those criteria what would be the best choice ?

No weird skins like bevis and butthead or family guy or rappers or any of that shit

What about War Thunder or World of Tanks...they are 3rd person or fps.

I know you are not looking for older settings but Hell Let Loose is a good time as well (but admittedly not a modern setting)
 
I've heard that game Marathon is quite popular!

I've been playing Battlefield 6 BR on PS5 (Played the regular MP modes during the beta and they were super fun too) over the last 4 months. It's hella fun and stunning in it's audio/visual presentation.
 
Modern Warfare II or III - the latter is better but the movement is faster. There are also vehicles and a wide variety of modes, including PvE.
 
Battlefield 6 sounds like the closest to what you are looking for. Assuming you are looking for a multiplayer game (the campaign is short and isn't worth buying the game for)

Ok, well I may have to give BF6 a shot as well.

Helldivers is third person but you can toggle the aiming and shooting to FPS.
The Finals maybe?
MWIII is also good.
 
You could try out Enlisted or Delta Force, those are F2P, see if you like those, but with microtransactions mind you. Or you could try BF6/BF2042, its a premium title but also with microtransactions. There's also Insurgency, has more realism than your average shooter, but no vehicles last I checked.
 
Sounds like BF6, but since you enjoyed doom eternal try doom the dark ages or doom 2016.
 
I've been checking out BF6Red Sec the last couple days, it's fun, but is there any way to play solo or is it all team based? Would like to just do a free for all death match, or just 2 huge teams against each other.

I will check out delta force as well.

I also downloaded Rainbow 6 siege x, but only did the tutorial. Not sure if this is the scale I'm looking for, more so I want war and battle. Not infiltration.

I tried delta force but it felt off after playing BF6.

I do have access to BF2042 and BFV via the monthly PS+ sub I've had going for years.
Are either of those games still active?

Also how is Call of Duty Warzone?

Finally it's not first person but I keep hearing good stuff about the Division games and I see 2 is on sale for $12

Some suggestions

Cod Infinite warfare
Modern warfare 1 / 2 remastered
Wolfenstein games. ( avoid the one with the lesbian bitches in it)
Bf6
The division 1 and 2 also both excellent
 
Just an update here - I found a game I really like and it's Division 2

I tried Battlefield 6 RedSec, Rainbow 6 Siege, Delta Force, Call of Duty Warzone, Enlisted, and finally Division 2

And out of all these Division 2 was the most fun, most engaging, most enjoyable and entertaining game by far.

I can't believe I didn't get into the series earlier. It's so good. I'm all in on this game. Exploring post outbreak DC is fun, the music is way better than I expected it to be and the guns feel great.

Also the customization for your character is amazing. I have already beaten the main campaign and am on to the DLC now.

I haven't played a ton of Marathon admittedly, but didn't seem too hard.

The menu interface is cheeks though.

Ya I got my ass stomped in BF6 over and over. I am really bad at it.

It was the free weekend mode or whatever so I got to try a bunch of different modes but ya the game is not for me at this time lol
 
Didn't know Division even had a following still.

Been wanting to get into multiplayer games BUT I never play online and don't want to get my shit kicked in.

I've played mostly solo actually.

A few times I teamed up with people calling for help but it's only pve, I haven't done any pvp
