Ugh, not sure whether I want to get Poi or The Long Dark to play right now. Looking for a fun single player game that's $10 and I've narrowed it down to these two. Choices.

Enjoy, guys :)

It's super boring having a winter sale with no daily deals. Makes me not come back each day and likely reduces the amount I would spend on impulse buys.

Quick repost for anyone who might have missed some free games.

All you have to do is swear eternal allegiance to Valve, name your first born Gaben, and drop by the Steam thread in Community every once in a while.

Steam newcomers!

I searched through some spares I had and put together what I think is the perfect Steam starter pack. It's 5 of the best indies on Steam:

  • Risk of Rain
  • Fez
  • Bastion
  • FTL
  • Mark of the Ninja LIMBO

If you're new and need a place to start, send me a PM (so it doesn't get lost in this pace of this thread) and I can give you a code, some codes, all codes, whatever.

I think I have 2 Fez, but only 1 of the others.

I, on the other hand, love it. I see what I want right away and get what I want, right away. No waiting involved = winner in my book.

(Not waiting until the Encore sale to see if what you want is going to be on a daily is the greatest thing)

Timegated anything is the death of me.

Doesn't seem like FM16 will get a sale so I ended up buying the following for that amount:

- Telltale Games Collection
- Evil Within Bundle
- Lords of the Fallen
- South Park: The Stick of Truth
- Elite: Dangerous
- Heroes of Might and Magic V Pack

Going to be away from my desktop during the holidays - does anybody know how well Divinity: Original Sin runs on a mid-2015 Macbook Pro (wit Intel Iris Pro graphics)?

Does it improve as it goes on? I did two episodes and wasn't really feeling it...

Depends on what your definition of "improvement" is. If you thought the pacing was slow, the story kinda picks up by the end of chapter three, where the time travel stuff gets real heavy

It'll most likely work, but there's always a small chance of it not working. I wouldn't really worry about it, though, since they could probably replace the code.

The joke here is me having to learn Calculus to even ANSWER these questions. I don't know Calculus.

Clearly the game has an extremely vocal audience, but it's worth mentioning that Undertale is something really special if you can look past the occasionally overbearing fanbase.

But you've already been waiting months, maybe years in some cases, for the games you want to drop to a price point that suits you. How can a day or two more possibly matter?

There's very little gameplay (one or two puzzles in each of the first two episodes) and it's not really obvious how your choices will end up impacting the future, making them feel somewhat arbitrary.

The characters are not really my favorites, but they are fine. I just felt like the plot was a bit telegraphed and plodding. Part of this might be because super-power origin stories have been done to death, I am sure, and part of it might be because the teen girl protagonist, while novel, felt a bit forced.

There are a few trickier puzzles in the later episodes, but the main focus is on dialog and socializing as you move forward in each area. Several of those nonsensical choices don't have much of an impact besides being there for flavor. Dialog choices usually do come back to some degree, even if it ends up being more of a callback than a ripple-causing effect.

It's a hard call to make, since the last 3 episodes up the detectivework quite a bit, but I don't know if you'll personally find payoff if something like the final events in Episode 2 did nothing for you.

WOW, I'm getting OOOOOLD, playing Mad Max I have hard time managing to time in the counter attacks... and all fights tires out my fingers of the constant button smashing, sure I don't might fighting like that but my hand is completely tired.XD

Hmm decisions for tomorrow. I can either get South Park or Undertale. I'm a South Park fan though so that's where I'm currently swaying.

Because it's annoying, not just waiting a day or so but needing to check every day (or worse every 8 hours in the past), uncertain if it will ever actually get a deeper discount. The excitement of checking whether or not a sale is up means nothing to me, it has zero value. If anything it's kinda offputting. Not everything needs a hype cycle and gamification to be worthwhile, especially not the process of buying a game.

Interested in getting Bedlam and Contradiction - Spot the Liar. Bedlam is down from $20 to $8, and I just wanted to get opinions from others on the game. As for Contradiction, should I hold out for a deal, or just get it now?

I'm debating whether or not to pick up Pillars of eternity. It's at a nice price for the base game but then I'd need/want to add on the dlc pass which is sadly not on sale as far as I can tell. Plus I'm guessing they'll bundle it all together at some point when the second half of the dlc comes out. Pillars looks like everything I want out of a game though so I keep waffling back and forth on it.

Do multiple playthroughs still feel enjoyable as you start getting into your 3rd or 4th character?

Contradiction has been bundled once already. Wouldn't be shocked if it happened again. However, it's worth it at full price. Fair few people from the Steam thread would certainly say that much. You might be waiting a while, holding out for a deal. But there's no harm in sleeping on it until the last day of the sale now. But it really depends on the sort of game you like. Are you big on solving things? FMVs? It's not what we all usually play.

On the bright side, I'm saving up for a new PC in 2016, so spending $0 on this non-daily, non-flash Steam sale means I should get to my target savings sooner.

If I don't blow it all on single malt scotch instead.

Thanks, Based Gaben!

Yeah, you need to get South Park.

It's one of the greatest licensed IP to video game conversions every made.

I still can't believe that South Park & Alien Isolation came out in the same year.

Problem 1 - Difficulty rating: 0/2

If f(x) = 8x3 + 2x + 9, what is f’(x)?

24x^2 + 2

Problem 2 - Difficulty rating: 0/0

On what interval is f(x) = 2x increasing?

f'(x) = 2 which is always positive so full interval

Problem 3 - Difficulty rating: 1/1

What is f’’’(x) if f(x) = cosx?

f' = -sinx
f'' = -cosx
f''' = sinx

Someone break out the chain rule for 4 I got to go.

The game still has a good 70 hours of content, so I wouldn't worry about it too much if you want to play it now. I'm waiting until both DLCs are out before I pick them up myself.
