They are not gonna have the only female protagonist of Star Wars fall to the dark side.

Ahem...

Guys idk. I'm thinking and even though I have no logical basis for this. I feel Rey by the end of episode 8 falls to the darkside and maybe even becomes Ren's apprentice. Don't ask my why I think this. It's just something I feel would really shake things up.

Maybe she's the daughter of a guy/women from the dark side..?
That could be cool.
Son of good guy = dark side
Daughter of a dark guy = good side

No reason to think Luke left Rey on Jakku. Left in the hands of a bad guy on a deadly planet. The last one we see approach Rey before seeing her get dumped is Kylo. It's like she had served a purpose so her life was spared and as a thank you they just dropped her in a shitty place, literally like throwing a kid out of a car on the road.

None of those other visions were from Rey's perspective. Why would you assume that one was?

One of the things I love about Kylo Ren is that despite his design obviously homaging Darth Vader, he has a completely different build and posture. He's a very lanky guy and is always hunched over, giving him a much different feel from the more regal Vader.

well kylo said that jedi's are assassin and murderer

No he didn't. He was talking about Han and Finn and I believe he said 'thieves' and 'liars'. Pretty sure he didn't say 'assassins'.

I don't know, ask Obi-Wan and Yoda? Their ultimate goal was for Luke to kill Vader.

In this case. Obi and Yoda are of a belief that once one goes to the Darkside, their former self is dead when they turn... damn Jedi really are kinda close minded. The Sith are so much more understanding and open.

Like I said. I have no logical basis in my speculation but it would be interesting. You can beat your ass Kylo having completed his full turn to the darkside and we assume he'll complete his training as well. Will be better prepared to face Rey.

Now of course Rey will be well trained as well by training with Luke.

The unknown with Rey is her origin/parentage. What if Kylo knows something or discovers something about her past. Reveals it to her and it FUCKS her up mentally. I mean it would essentially be a "No, I am your father." moment. But still.

I don't think this trilogy will end as dark as the PT did, which again, was because it was a tragedy from the very start.

If you think about the OT ending, it's not all that difficult on the emotions. Vader dies, the heroes live. I expect this trilogy to be pretty close to that. People like Star Wars when it's more upbeat than brooding.

That being said, how they get to that ending and what we learn about the characters and the fiction is what will be interesting.

I mean, if Star Wars is intent on treating its female characters like shit, they can go ahead and have Rey turn to the dark side.

But I think the franchise has put that tendency behind it.

Well but why would he said that, what happen to him?

"Those other people aren't really your friends." is step one in the cult programming handbook.

I'd like the bittersweet ending. Heroes win but they pay a big price.

Ending of episode 8 will be very dark i suppose...

Uh did you see the movie? They killed Han Solo....

True, its just something about Disney and having a strong female character that has now become a huge success with little girls. Becoming a role model and icon to them makes me think they'll play it safe. I would like to be proven wrong though.

So that means she isn't able to fall to the darkside? It would make and interesting arc. At the very least she will be seduced by the darkside.
Right. Let's turn the first female, Jedi-to-be protagonist of the franchise (re: movies) and make her a shitty person.

That's not an interesting arc.

Rey not turning to the dark side and "playing it safe" are not mutually exclusive.

I don't see how this as treating her character like shit. Luke nearly fell to the Darkside in Jedi. Anakin became Vader. Rey is clearly gifted in the force. It's not hard to imagine she'll at least be seduced. I just brought up the fact of her turning because it would be interesting.

"You told us where to find the jedis, we killed them all. Oh btw that included your parents."

I agree with that.

Rey is the most pure and "light side" of the force with Yoda on the entire saga. Even Obi-wan was a douchbag in the prequel (but he was cool)

I think it's more likely that Rey will be able to utilize the Dark Side of the Force constructively versus actually succumbing to the Dark Side. Balance.

This is something I've always wanted to see. A force user that utilizes both light and dark without considering themselves Jedi or Sith. Someone who is a good (anti) hero. Sometimes using hate, anger or brutal methods to do the right thing. Not necessarily following the Jedi's strict rules but also not a cold hearted, destruction seeking bastard.

Having her turn to the darkside for one movie would be really interesting, we've seen people fall to the dark side, people reject it, but we've never seen someone go balls deep and then pulling herself together after a while.

Vader doesn't count as he went on for years and his change of heart did not include exploring guilt and regrets as he died soon after.

You seem to be confusing "tempted" and "seduced." She can and may be tempted — that's okay! But seduced? Not gonna happen.

And if you can't see why her turning the dark side given her place as a woman in the franchise, I can only assume you're not trying to imagine what it's like to have so few protagonists — enthusiastic-to-be heroes! — not be like you.

Rey embraces the dark side, becomes an absolute badass. But instead of being the evil murdery kind, she actually takes out the "evil" elements of the dark side and brings balance between light and dark.

She already flirted with the dark side at the end of Force Awakens though. It's how she beat Kylo Ren's ass. Before that, she was barely getting away from him for half that fight.

Like I said. We don't know how these movies will play out. Maybe Ren finds something out about her that causes her great emotional stress. She's not perfect and she's can be corrupted just as easily as any Jedi.

And I'm not saying if that plays out she can't be redeemed. It just a story arc I'd like to see happen. I don't think it makes her shitty at all. Again Anakin completely fell to the darkside. Luke was arrogant, whiny and almost had his moment in Jedi. I don't see why it makes Rey a shitty character or person to experience this.
