Sooo...I just got into Steam today. Never really tried it before, and I've been a console user for forever. Upon seeing the prices for some of the stuff in this store...let's just say I already have a massive Steam backlog lol

Hello and welcome to the light side of gaming.

Which coupon?

50% off on top of the 75% off, which makes the game 87.5% off. You could get it from Alienware a while back.
It just bothers me because I know it'll be in a bundle or given away sometime. I just know it with Devolver. But at that price I might as well buy the base game for now.
Edit: Speaking of the coupons, I redeemed the others but have no intention of using them. Send me a PM if you want any of them. They should stack with the current sales. They expire on January 1st.

Have a question, probably for JaseC. How come Arma 2 and the Czech Republic DLC doesn't show as owned on the store page but it's in my library? All the other DLC shows as owned.

This happens with a few other games (Silent Service being one). Can't remember the reason why, though.

Why Am I Dead at Sea is awesome! So far. If you enjoyed the train sequence in Paper Mario, get this game.

Happy you're liking it, it's severely underlooked as I said and gets better and better as it goes along.

I agree. Very enjoyable
How come it never got any traction? I only found out about it from this thread. It's excellent.

Also, I uploaded the only Steam controller configuration for the game. Hope that helps others.

As I said when I gave my recommendation, it got swept up and overlooked by other releases at the time. Happy my post got a few to try it though and hope it gains some GAF presence at least.

Well, since the Steam sale has been a horror in itself, here a horror game for the holidays. Sadly, it isn't on sale on Steam, but WinGameStore has it discounted.

It's the exact experience I look for when buying indie titles. Unique, interesting to look at, cheap, quick play. How did you find it? I hope it gains a second wind. It's the reason why I love the PC platform.

The $1.99 list is going to be massive. Literally over a half of all horror games on Steam are under $5. But I hope the list helps some.

I check things, buy a lot of games that strike fancy, and delve into niches. The art style looked nice and the trailer interested me, I bought it back when it came out. However, I only decided to try it earlier this month and was surprised a few hours in how much I was getting into Why Am I Dead At Sea, so I posted about it on the SteamGAF thread, and also bringing it up how some fantastic games have been overlooked this year (I know a lot of horror ones, but this one has more general appeal).

When the Sale thread started, I just re-posted my post I made from the December thread to at least maybe interest a few to buy, a few did, and happy to hear others have the same thoughts I do, Why Am I Dead At Sea is a little gem of a game that for some reason no one is talking about, it got completely overlooked.

Non sale related:

Is there any way to have Steam run a batch file BEFORE and AFTER I launch a particular game (big picture or desktop mode)?

I have my computer set to sleep after 3 minutes idle because the environment matters. Unfortunately, Jackbox Party Pack is controlled with phones, so the computer registers as idle while you're playing. I wrote a batch file to toggle my computer out of eco-friendly mode and back again, now I'm trying to figure out the best way to run it before launching JPP (to switch out) and after (to switch in). Any suggestions?

Couldn't you AutoHotkey it and have AutoHotkey wait for the Jack Box Party Pack executable to exit?

I've got something like that set up to toggle between my monitors and non-streaming TV for Big Picture, and it works pretty well. You can run stuff before you launch the executable, wait for the executable to close, and then run cleanup.

I'm not sure if you can have Steam do that on its own. You could possibly compile the AutoHotkey script to an exe and add it as a shortcut in Steam if you have to get to it via the Big Picture interface.

EDIT: You could probably do the same thing (wait for the executable to terminate) in a batch file, but I haven't tried it.

How is Nobunaga's Ambition? My last strategy game was Civilization III. I just need something to sink time into that's not the dreaded Dota.

Man, you should use your original post and make a thread about it. This game deserves way more love. Thanks again.

Yeah I had bought the game during the sale since I remembered your last post about it.

What the fuck just happened?! I finally go ahead and start the download for Wolfenstein Old Blood (35GB) on a family member's ethernet connection and that shit is done in less than half an hour. I've never seen anything like it. I never even try to get anything over 25GB on my home Wi-Fi, and even that takes like six hours. The meter showed an almost constant 23MB/s down (that's MegaBYTES, not bits). I go to speedtest and it reports like 83Mb/s but doesn't that Steam meter mean this motherfucker has almost 200Mb/s down? I don't even think this dude knows his ISP upgraded him.
