What's going on with your Steam account?

Nothing. I've just been getting an inordinate amount of friend requests from people who want my Bloodhound passes, so I'm going incognito for a while.

Edit: Fellow GAFers can feel free to add me. My Steam profile is set as my GAF homepage.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

posting from a phone sucks!

I can see if you've never heard the term. There's a Red Herring joke in Aviary Attorney and when I brought it up in the thread someone that has English as a second language asked for it to be explained, as the phrase isn't well known there.
I suppose, but tweeting something like that doesn't reassure me of the competency of that SteamDetective twitter account. :lol

apparently it's solved?

The password for: Ikaruga was: 1v7531 -- Everyone is getting their badges now.
https://twitter.com/SSDetectives/status/682686952152371201

I bet that's not the end of it though
So there was an ARG after all... too bad the whole ordeal didn't work in Steam Client (search page clues etc.). But I heard the badge redeem link did work via Steam Client. I got mine from via Ikaruga page, though.

I heard something about that being disabled by now or something, so... *shrugs*

Should say given your previous comment I tend to not get very far from it naturally so I haven't tested it at range much (1 bedroom apartment).

But hey, it's Amazon, easy to return if it doesn't work out.

It's just when I put it on top of my table, which is made of wood, it loses connection, and that's like 1 meter only. I sit at my desktop when using the controller, and it loses connection already.

Wait a minute.
Yesterday the storepage read

9981
That's right,
9981 titles on sale across Steam

Today it's

9961
That's right,
9961 titles on sale across Steam

Umihawaraka or whatever it's called makes 3 games. What are the other 17

It's 10078 for me. I wonder which are the specific games not on sale there.

The atmosphere of the game is quite wonderful, and totally nails the cyberpunk aesthetic. The mish-mash of cultures, languages adds to the feeling of alienation, emphasised by calling the city 'The City'. The music is fantastic, and pieces by Pertubator and Protector 101 helps add to the wonderful atmosphere. It's a beautifully grim place to look around, with streets soaked with rain, neon and chrome.

The story of Satellite Reign is almost an excuse plot. There's an evil megacorp and you're out to take them down. What you're really playing Satellite Reign for is the gameplay, and I have to admit that I've been really impressed by it. Each of your 4 agents have their own unique class and skills to utilise to complete your objectives. So far the objectives have mostly been 'get an agent into x building', but you've got a range of options on how to do that. Sneak your way in, hack some security cameras, hijack some guards to aid you, or just kick in the front door and kill everything that moves. It's great when you make a plan and pull it off, but it's an even better feeling when your plan goes wrong and you adapt successfully to still pull it off.

There's a lot of upgrades for your agents too, not just in skills, but in cyberwear, gear and weapons. Just getting a new weapon isn't enough though, you need to research the ability to replicate it to give it to the rest of your team and future clones. So you need researchers, which in turn need money to perform r&d to get you those upgrades. Basically you have to set up your own corporate production line to get your team really rolling, but there's a great sense of progression. You start off with agents packing puny sub-machine guns, but end up with heavily armoured troopers packing plasma rifles.

My New Year is kind of special. For the first time ever I'm alone, and I can't even call my parents to wish them a happy new year, as they don't answer their phones. They usually call me but didn't do it this year. =(

I think that's why bars were invented, chum. Go have whiskey until you could have bought the Witcher 3 with your tab. And Happy New Year.

Hopefully Ikaruga being in the arg at all means Treasure is still planning on breaking more games to steam.....two years after they said they would. Still so weird given they said they had plans post ikaruga which did well.

Radiant Silvergun for free to everyone who has the red herring badge

Is there a list of games on Steam somewhere that run in Portrait mode (at least, of games designed to be run vertically, I'm sure random games do it too just by polling resolutions)? Just played Downwell in it the other day (my monitor rotates, but I've barely bothered with it in the past).

does anyone have any thoughts on whether vanilla elite dangerous is worth a shot at $15 - ie a quarter as much as horizons? not sure the game's really for me, but also not sure whether the original version would represent a fair shake at this point.

Been enjoying it quite a bit. It has a great cyberpunk vibe. It's just like the original syndicate in so many ways.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. sold! :)

More people should play Alice. It's very depressing once you "get it" but isn't insulting in the process. It also plays host to a very pretty campaign, if you can forgive the repetition that tends to define the last leg. To this day, The Art of Alice remains the one and only art book I own, but last I checked Amazon no longer stocks it. :(

There's copies in the UK! So that's neat.

I played it on the 360 ages ago, and it's got an utterly gorgeous art style. Loved the variety in the aesthetics of the levels.
