How about the compatibility ? is it good ?
All game run without prob ?

Compatibility is pretty good but worse than it was in Windows 7/8.

One of my favourite games of all time and still our favourite racing game in LAN parties, Rally Trophy, doesn't work in WIndows 10 at all. It's a huge loss for us but what can you do...

Also Windows 10 does a lot of things automatically and doesn't really care if it breaks something driver related. It will stubbornly do its thing and re-install old/new shitty drivers on devices that won't work with those drivers. When you finally get everything up and running, it decides to install a bigger update that resets your drivers again. I've had a lot more issues with Windows 10 than I ever had with 8/8.1, and I really didn't like 8/8.1 either. Multiple devices with driver issues. Never had so many driver issues before.

Then there's the license issues. They are offering you free Windows 10 now but that offer expires next summer. What happens when your motherboard breaks after that and you need to re-activate but the activation is tied to your hardware? You don't have a cd-key with the "free" Windows 10 upgrade so... well to be honest, I haven't kept up-to-date with this license stuff. Are we any wiser now than we were at Windows 10 release?

Basically it's yet another Windows. Some things will always break, nothing you can do about that. They are definitely going more and more towards the Apple way of things though, remove options and settings and try to do everything automatically. Nothing should ever go wrong and if it does, well, you can't do anything about it.

Commando series (flat out removed from Steam because they can't patch it)

Yeah, that was quite a loss (no sarcasm, I love the games).

The games are there, but there is a note regarding Windows 10. The devs suggest using virtual machines until they figure out whether they will be able to do a patch. The games do seem to launch fine in a virtual machine (don't know if there are any issues later on), but that's obviously not for everyone.

They are supposed to recognize that it's still your machine from other data. How well this works, I don't know (this isn't new tech, I didn't have any issues with it recognizing hw upgrades before, but then again, I didn't try to upgrade motherboard or break it on purpose, for example, and that's the most important piece of data, so can't vouch as to how well it will work in that case - switching hard drives, graphics cards, adding RAM, etc, should be fine, however). (Added: I guess you'd be able to supply the serial number from which you upgraded in case things really go south, to help them recognize your license.)

I have a Windows phone in my house. I don't use it myself but I'm still ashamed to live in the aura of it's presence.

Many Microsoft folks are similarly ashamed of it, including (some of) those who worked on it, so you aren't at all alone. :-)

(Which is a pity, there were such hopes...)

I might just be overlooking something obvious, but does anyone have the 25% voucher for GMG? Trying to get Dragon's Dogma and RE0, but all I can find is the 20%.

Out of curiosity, what games are having issues on W10?

DSR (Nvidia's downsampling) is broken w/The Evil Within and Windows 10, works fine in 7. Haven't tried it in the last few months tho.

It's a game that really benefits from the improved image quality, so I'm holding off on finishing my playthrough till there's a solution (or I'll just install 7 again on another hdd).

It seems that Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is really coming to PC. SteamDB shows updates after leak

https://steamdb.info/app/417880/history/

It's also worth noting that most of the leaks have been renamed to unknown app, just like what happened to Zestiria.

Great news, Rapture and The witness are two of my most wanted games of 2016

No, they always were listed as "unknown app" afaik, the names were gotten through a loophole on the steam support site.

For what it's worth, when the game's name was leaked and added, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture did not have an image / icon set; now it does, so there has definitely been activity since the leak

DSR breaks the UIs on both Project Cars and Assetto Corsa for me. Not sure if it's W10 specific though. I'm confused why it's being so problematic though. I was always under the impression dsr is completely transparent to the game. Assetto Corsa's UI crops itself to a portion of the display after each race. PCARS, all the UI elements stop aligning with your mouse clicks.

Does the sale continue today? Or is it done at noon?

It says January 4th at 10 AM Pacific.

Have you guys tried driver-level downsampling? I've never been a fan of DSR.

It was actually the original form of downsampling, and modern drivers have only made it more accessible.

  • Nvidia CP
  • Change Resolution
  • Customize
  • Enable Resolutions Not Supported
  • Create Custom Resolution
  • Enter your desired resolution that conforms to your aspect ratio (Can create oddball resolutions by multiplying your height by 1.7 repeating, assuming 16:9)

When we were initially downsampling, you were essentially overclocking your monitor by messing with the timings settings. My old monitor was actually capped out at 3367x1894. Now you just leave the timings settings at automatic and the driver takes care of everything for you, pretty slick.

I never knew that was possible. Why the need for dsr in the first place?

279.00 CNY
sub 50 dollars and I finally pulled the trigger on snakebird after that one guy kept mentioning it

I feel good to have saved about 50 more percent on most things I bought but will I have any future trouble with the games I bought from the chinese store? I am in China and bought them legally for where I am currently living.

Here are the games I was thinking of buying and have them on a future to buy list. Anything I should really go ahead and get? Price is becoming an issue for me as I have spent over 300 dollars I think.

Master Spy looks great but isn't that cheap. I can get alien isolation for about 5 dollars (Guess I should go ahead and go for that) Way of the samurai 4 is still a bit expensive as well. Not sure if there is anything left near a dollar but Ill have to check it over again if so may go with a few cheap titles.

Fan of shooters and DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours can be bought here for about 19 dollars, not sure if I want to bite on it or not though since the discount isnt that big and the regular price is about 22 dollars

Played a bit of Sonic Lost Worlds.

The game feels like a mixed bag. I am having fun, but copying the Mario Galaxy formular doesnt quite work if you have long tubes instead of normal levels. Another thing is that Sonic slows down all the time. I cant really focus on being fast.

I wonder why dont they just do another Generations?

Don't try to sell booster packs, it's not worth it. Unpack it and sell the cards individually.

Eh in this case I think I calculate about right, its 8000-9000 IDR vs 5000-6000 IDR with card unpacked, unless I lucked foil, I made bigger money with Booster pack.. I need those miniscule differences too >_>

I'm guessing they didn't want to do more of the same?

That's me, but I've been out and about. I can try and see if I can wrap aomething out, though there's so many horror games on sale. And many good ones.

I'd be fine with a list , don't even need links and stuff. As long as the list is there it's good enough for me to search :)

Thanks for the other lists btw

are there any good horror "walking simulators"? Like is there a horror game that doesn't involved solving a bunch of puzzles and stealthing

Like gone home with a horror theme

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is pretty close. It has very few puzzles and the ones that are there are completely rudimentary and almost entirely ditches the stealth elements of the original. A lot of people were sour on it because it was such a departure from the first game in those regards but I thought the whole thing was really solid. If you're looking for something more open though it might not be for you as this is almost entirely linear.
