Don't know if it's been posted, but Call of Cthulhu is 75% off and it rarely get that much of a drop.

One of the benefits of getting rid of the outdated daily system where I have to wait indefinitely for niche games to get featured deals.

Consumer choice feels so good.

Yeah, but what about the daily deals? I didn't spend much money at all in this sale because I thought completely about what I actually wanted to buy instead of being pressured to spend money I didn't want to?

Huh? Did you think about that?

I want my dailies back. Fuck you Valve.

Does the girl have some magical form of leprosy?

It is a spoiler

SPOILER FOR TALES OF SYMPHONIA
the blond girl (colette) doesn't feel anything, nor taste or pain, early before that scene she fell and was bleeding, but was hiding that she didn't feel anything, Lloud suspects she's lying so he does that coffee mind fuck scene.

It is a pretty infamous scene in the game lol.

Consumer engagement is Valve's job. They need to make people excited through ARGs, Metagames, trading cards, unique achievements, etc, etc.

Don't forget to mention that hit/block stun were borrowed from a fight between Gorilla and Megalodon.

I shall. I was going to just talk about Chun-Li's thighs and Hot Ryu's beard, but discussion of mechanics probably should be included somewhere.

Yeah, I don't think their exploration system is really up to snuff still. I keep finding more things I completely missed until someone on my friends list buys it.

Well, that is if you ignore that many games are not at their actual biggest discount because they don't want to do a deep discount for the whole sale. This happened with a crapload of games: with niche games, classic games, and semi-recent games. The new way is not really the sea of roses you claim it to be.

Never claimed to be a sea of roses, just a net positive over the old system. Outside examples will always exist, both negative and positive, I tend to use the aggregate total change.

Yeah, I've watched the scene.
Leprosy kills your nerves, so people affected lose the ability to feel anything - hot, cold, being cut, etc.
Hence why I'm asking. :)

It's almost time to go back to the community side again for the first STEAM 2016 topic.

It's been an interesting ride, regulars and new people alike conversing, more laying opinions and playing games because no dailies to speak of.

See if from this we get a few more regulars. Newcomers, you're welcome to join us tomorrow when we get back to our regular Steam topics on the community side. And the oldies of SteamGAF, we should be ready to embrace them, with open arms.

Drag them, join us on the community side, get them in HERE, FRESH BLOOD, STAY WITH US, PLEASE!

Don't know if it's been posted, but Call of Cthulhu is 75% off and it rarely get that much of a drop.

Great game for its time. I remember in one part you had to run from some bad guys while closing doors and pushing furniture. It was pretty tense and nerve wracking. The atmosphere is very well done as well.

I actually literally replayed Call of Cthulhu three weeks ago. Some technical bugs, but it's stood the test of time and is a fantastic atmospheric action-adventure game with horror tones.

What it does insanely well is pacing, the game is paced so nicely and keeps mixing itself up all the way to the end to keep things interesting, an engrossing story spun off Lovecraft, and some really cool locales, level design, and set-pieces on display.

The daily system did never prevent good discounts for niche games.

Where have you been?

Since the Steam opened the floodgates, and even prior to that really, the vast majority of games on Steam never received their deepest discount as they were indefinitely waiting to become a featured deal.

It's really an arbitrary change for the mainstream audience who just browse the main page for deals to see if anything interests them.

Ends up being a net positive for the hardcore users who actively browse niche and older games.

I think i'm gonna get Final Fantasy XI partially to actually play and partially to just have in my Steam library along with all the other FF games excluding (XIV so far). Is it even worth it anymore though?

Finished Adventures of Pip today and didn't like it that much , i mean yes it was fun and all but i guess i just wasn't enjoying the transformation mechanic for some reason , or maybe i just played too many platformers recently, also idk why but it felt like something was happening with the framerate, like i see that its 60 fps but it felt like it was 40 or something around that when i was moving.

I don't get it... why are you guys celebrating getting back to community clutches again?

Being in gaming over the course of the sale has been great.

I've thought about that as well. They actually had a huge celebration in 2015, but didn't put the Steam version on discount during that period.

There's still an active community but the game's story and all that is coming to an end. I'm thinking of starting it up and actually play through the story, so that I don't miss out but I won't do it alone.

Why does niche games not getting featured as a daily prevent them from getting a deep discount? That's up for the publisher to decide.
These niche games are not featured on the front page even with the new system so nothing changed for these titles.

I finally know who Lucina is! So many twists.

I feel like I didn't buy enough in the sale again. I don't think I am missing any GOTY contenders, so probably fine.

I've enjoyed being on the gaming side. But as I embraced going to the gaming side before the sale started, I also embrace going back. It is what it is, and I'll continue blabbing about horror whatever side we're on.

i'm using the idle master now for the first time, and i have a few questions:

1. it counts down from 6 minutes multiple times until "the next check" (or the english equivalent), what exactly does this mean?

2. i understand it's simulating being in-game, but does it do that simultaneously for all games, meaning i get all available cards in 4 hours? or does it idle games individually? if the latter, would that theoretically mean that 100 games would take me 400 hours of idling if the card drop is 4 per game?

quick edit: according to the steam client, three games are running and the rest isn't, so i think the answer to question 2 is "both"? is there a limit?

i have no idea what the game is like now since it's changed a lot, but the game used to have one of the best gaming communities because of how it forced you to work with other players.

1. If I understand it correctly, it iddles for 6 minutes and then checks if it got a card or not. If it was the last, it jumps to the next game.

2. I don't know wich version you have, mine goes one by one.

Checking to see if all card drops have happened.

All games need to be idled for 2 hours before they drop cards due to Steam's refund policy. After it gets 2 hours in the games, it'll begin idling them individually aince that makes drops happen faster than multiple games at once.

You'll likely be idling for a while. I also will mention the idle time for games is different. For example, the Batman games have it so drops happeevery two hours or so, while others can be 10 minutes between drops.
