Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I've asked before but anybody know of any good metal fight stick cases? I know of panzer but its like 275 for his case, wondering if there any alternatives

So i connected the Hori Rap4 Kai to my pc...

horigeqt2.png

When i press the R2 button (Button 7), X rotation is also activated.
When i Press the L2 button (Button 8), Y rotation is also activated.
When i moved the stick, i can't move the X and Y axis.

Any idea how to solve this?

Ok, I tested my own Kai in USFIV on my laptop and it definitely needs to be in PS3 mode for full compatibility. I was able to use it in PS4 mode but it doesn't detect simultaneous inputs that way so you can't do throws, focus attacks, etc. PS3 mode works perfectly.

$275 isn't a horrible price...except the Panzer is really lacking in design.

I like this VLX AT $235...

...or, if you have any modding skills, you can always buy an old Hori Fighting Stick and mod it...

Any information on input lag with this particular converter, or is it a given that any converter will introduce lag? Barring that I'm not too sure how I would wire that pcb with my hori vx sa kai, the daughter board with the turbo switches and stuff is kind of confusing.
Apparently they only add about 5.2 frames of input lag. It's only about .7 frames worse than the Skullgirls driver for USF4. You should be good to go.

The video referenced is going by 60fps.

I'm still looking for a cheap-ish stick for SFV on ps4, and wanted opinions on this ebay listing. It is modded with full Sanwa parts which I hear is good, but my concern is the 8 minute timeout when playing on ps4. I've heard of this phenomenon before, but don't know what causes it. Is it a problem with all modded sticks, or a lot of sticks in general? I wouldn't mind replugging it in at my house since I sit right next to the ps4 on my desk, but plan on going to tournaments somewhat often so this is kinda a turnoff to have to do between games. Might just end up going for the Madcatz Alpha, but I kinda want a full sized stick.

Not worth dealing with the hassle IMO. Forgetting about it once can cost you a tournament match and make you wish you had spent the extra money for an official stick.

Just get an HRAP4 Kai on Amazon or preorder one of the Madcatz sticks. The amazon price for the Hori keeps going up and down and it's at $140 now, I snagged mine at about $120. Madcatz sticks are always quality but the new ones cost a bit more and don't come out until February I think.

Oh, that's not much more. Will go ahead and get this soon then. Thanks for the recommendation.

Another dumb question. Sorry.

Are madcatz currently the only sticks that use all Sanwa parts. ?
Hori RAP Kai is back on the download slope of the price rollercoaster for anybody keeping an eye on it - £119.99 at the moment.
Sorry for the dumb question.

Would it work on the PC right out the box, without using joytokey or anything like that. ?

EDIT: i forgot to put that i would be using the stick for the PC SFV.

Of the licensed PS4 sticks, I think so. I don't think Eightarc/Qanba got into the PS4 stick market, yet.

Thats not a dumb question!

It needs to be switched to PS3 mode for pc, and the game needs d-input support, but I've had no problems - well, I had one with the first release of Mushihimesama where the mapping was screwy, but that's fixed now.

It works great in MAME.

vlx is a bit too big for my taste, and not sure how I feel about that slope design on the others lol. I do have the namco TE stick that I can use as a base as well, just was hoping to see if there were any nice designs out there. The X1 DIY cases look cool, but not sure how acrylic cases hold up

Thanks dude, it was the PS3 butrton, Duh !!

After googling around online for a while to see how I could possibly get my fight stick to work on PC, I decided to contact MadCatz support directly and see what they could do.

One of the things they want me to do is make sure the fight stick is plugged into a USB 3.0 port (it is). They also told me to make sure the fight stick is in PS3 mode. I don't have any idea what this means however. I already replied and asked them to explain to me how to do this and am awaiting a response, but I figured I'd ask here as well and see if anyone knows.

I have the PS3 Street Fighter IV Round 2 Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition.

With that stick you need a specisl USB card to get it working on PC. It's an issue for any MadCatz PS3 stick made before the Chun Li model.

Support probably thinks you have a PS4 stick, which is why they're telling you to change it to PS3 mode.

is your motherboard intel? if so it should work fine, the round2 ps3 te supports a funky implementation of the usb standerd so only via and intel usb chipsets work. if your on an amd system it wont work, unless you buy a usb pci card with a via chipset.

They were previously available for preorder for some time, but now they're listed as "currently unavailable". Limited run?

Damn, even the pads are listed as "not available."

Don't know what's going on.

Hopefully the thirst is real and this means SF5 is going to sell eleventy gajillion copies at launch.

I'm really nervous that Capcom isn't going to let us know of ps3 stick compatibility and then in the end screw us over by saying you can't use them and I'm going to be sitting around on release day without a stick and having to shell out a bunch of money just to get something immediately which will still take time to ship and release week is going to end up miserable

Just get a cheap PS4 stick now. That way you will be covered on SFV release.
I already had a PS3 stick but bought a Hori RAP 4 to play the beta and it's great. You can find it for 130-ish dollars.

I mean might as well just assume PS3 sticks won't be compatible. Not every FG is going to have the compatibility so you'll eventually need a PS4 stick anyway.

Yeah, I'm slightly on the fence trying to decide on just getting a RAP4 and gutting my ps3 stick for parts

Crap, you're right, they probably do think that. I just sent them a follow up email.

I have the Intel Z77 chipset in my motherboard but the buttons are still unresponsive so I may have to buy the additional chipset. Alternately I may try to sell this fight stick and buy a new one. Most of my friends will be getting SF V on PS4 and one good friend is getting it on PC so I will probably buy it on both platforms so I need a stick that works on both.

Recently got an Hori RAP4 Silent. Great stick, any recommendations in terms of bags?
The madcatz messenger bag is pretty cheap, but not sure if it's worth it.

Nice! Any pics of the guts? I just finished 2 sticks myself (will see if I can upload pics later) and I'm wondering about the led lights installation.

It's super easy!

First thing I did was buy this:

http://store.madcatz.com/categories...-FightStick-Tournament-Edition-2-LED-PCB.html

The next thing you need are some fully or semi transparent buttons which I ordered from Focus Attack:

http://www.focusattack.com/pushbuttons/popular-brands/sanwa/

Then i just watched this video by a dude who posts here on GAF:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKHNUNtcyJY

Quick and painless! Although please note when you remove the wires to your buttons there is a VERY tiny release switch on the connectors, just yanking them off can ruin the wires or even your buttons.

For PC, sorry

I'm not a pad guy so it may be better to wait on the opinion of someone who uses them regularly, but the FC4 might still be the way to go (in PS3 mode if you have Win10, in PS4 mode w/ Win7 iirc). It's a good pad from the little I used it, perfect for fighters.

Anyone have any idea how Amazon is on shipping pre-ordered sticks? Do you get it the day of or do you get them based on the shipping you chose? Kind of sucks that the new sticks are releasing the day of SFV release.

Cheers man that's interesting and seems painless enough. For some reason I always thought it was way more complicated.

How do you guys clean sticks? I'm assuming just soap and water? I have a VXSA that I bought used, but it was in pretty nice condition. But over time I noticed the panel sticker started sort of yellowing, or just darkening a bit. Compared to the case around it. I did notice they are different tones of white, and it seems the sticker would yellow more easily compared to the rest of the shell due to the texture. Anyone else had this issue? I'm considering using the method D.Lo posted a while back to clean up yellowing consoles.

If you want a PC stick, go with a an X360 TE or similar stick.
Damm, that's a real shame, i was hoping i could go back and forth from PS4 to the PC version SFV, with either Hori RAP Kai, at least one of those new MC if i had too. Ohh well.

I've asked before but anybody know of any good metal fight stick cases? I know of panzer but its like 275 for his case, wondering if there any alternatives

Man, Jasen's first gen panzer stick looked sooooo good. I regret not buying a case and storing it for PS4 when I had the chance.

The second gen case is too expensive and I don't see why there was a HUGE bump in price.

Most likely you will be able to, it's just in the last beta there wasn't any directinput support for SFV, so it's only an assumption (albeit a safe one) that it will have dinput support for the final version.
