Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I have no idea how this shit is going to end satisfactorily in one more issue, this story is too much of an epic for a one and done event.

I kinda feel the same. Even at the end of #8, there's still so much going on.

Now that I think about it, how is Doom the bad guy?

He saved the multiverse.

Reed and the survivors of 616 are the villains, if anything.

Doom was killing universes to do it. And at the end, he cemented himself as the new world's god.

Given his past, it's not surprising everyone is like "oh hell no there is no way we're letting this be".

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
So far the best ones are:

Vision - Do NOT sleep on this.
Ultimates
Captain America: Sam Wilson
Amazing Spider-Man
Invincible Iron Man
Hercules
Guardians of Infinity
Doctor Strange
Karnak
Astonishing Ant-Man
Spider-Man 2099

Potentially good:

New Avengers
Inhumans
Uncanny Inhumans
Extraordinary X-Men
Carnage
Hawkeye
Scarlett Witch
Mighty Thor

Trash:

Uncanny Avengers
Angela
Avengers
Spider-Gwen
Silk
Black Knight
Nova

Isnt it too early to judge black knight? Theres only been one issue so far and its only been world building

Meh, that's disappointing to hear. I guess when they eventually do a big trade, there'll probably be one with Secret Wars 1-9, Siege 1-4, and Thors 1-4?

This is usually how the big event trades work, they'll include the tie-ins that are crucial to the main narrative but the rest are delegated to a companion HC or omnibus. Siege and Thors should be included with the main book for sure.

Did you read Weirdworld? It's absolutely the best of the non-crucial tie-ins.

For the record, we already know the first collection after it finishes is just SW #0-9, no tie-ins included.

Secret Wars https://www.amazon.com/dp/0785198849/?tag=neogaf0e-20

#0 being the FCBD prequel story.

The tie in collections have already hit the store shelves. We got a ton of them in last week at work. A bunch of Warzones, Last Days, and Battleworld collections.

EDIT: And no way the actual Secret Wars hardcover is that cheap. Not initially. MSRP will probably be $75 just like Age of Ultron was.

Amazon have an annoying habit of jacking the prices up close to release when it comes to Marvel hardcovers. I remember when I preordered the Uncanny Avengers omnibus basically as soon as it was listed for something like £40 and it ended up going up to £75. Glad I preordered when I did.

That list posted on the last page triggers me lol.

Sooo Ultimate End. Why did this exist again?

Its almost assuredly going to tie into the last issue of Secret Wars and Bendis probably wanted to witre some of those characters one last time.

I'm fine with that, but this felt like the worst send-off he could give them.

spoiler!

is it really "one last time" though? Contest of Champions has an appearance by earth 61610, labeled "ultimate end." its a ruin sure...but its still there...

Wow, Ultimate End was trash through and through.

It was like the complete opposite of everything Hickman has built up to. I guess the joke's on me for buying that shit.

Honestly, Ultimate End should have been a one shot.

It basically "derp, I'm confused" then "derp, I'm confused too" for FOUR FRICKIN ISSUES

It served as a nice transition for Miles, but dude. What a mess.

Oh, fuck off Bendis. He literally did 3 more of those, 1 double spread had two small boxes and one tiny bit of text. Another was just blank.

That was...indulgent. Those panels also only work when the dialog isn't completely interchangeable.

Speculation I saw on another forum, which I think could be valid, is that Doom
voluntarily gives up his power.

well, he mentions being tired of the whole thing way back in secret wars 1 or 2 or something similar, so this wouldn't be unheard of.

however given all the pieces laid out for a pretty climactic fight at this point, and doom's rivalry/hatred for Reed (let alone two of him) still unresolved, its tough to see it play out this way.

Also, we see the battleworld literally exploding in a handful of tie ins, so there's that as well.

The only reason Doom would give his power up is if he's convinced that Reed (or the Reeds) have a better long term plan. He might not be happy to admit he is wrong, and he would never admit it in the open, but historically Doom has always known that Reed has better answers than he does, and he's willing to accept that internally, even if he puts on an arrogant front.

I don't think that's going to happen. Doom isn't even the source of his power, so it could potentially be stolen from him without much effort. I'm like 75% sure that's what the Reeds are up to.

Yep. There's a grudging respect underneath it all. To say Doom "hates" Reed is far too simplistic. At least for how Hickman plays it.

So Secret Wars #9 made it to the tentative shipping list on comiclist.com for next Wednesday. 8 days and the waiting will finally be over.

This event might end up being a jumping off point for Marvel comics for me though. At least for a bit. I think I read one issue of ANAD Marvel back in October. I feel no real urge to jump back in.

Still excited for the final issue. Don't know if it will live up to the hype, but it's been one hell of a ride.

Also, that story from Secret Wars Too is amazing.
