Woke up and saw a couple tweet's about his music, and got the urge to listen to his music on the drive to work. Then I saw Duncan Jones' tweet and my heart broke.

RIP, you magnificent motherfucker. :(

I'm absolutely in utter shock, just genuinely can't believe it. I mean battling cancer for that long and still making music, and music as good as Blackstar is a testament to Bowie's talent and drive and ability. Genuinely unbelievable news. God bless you David Bowie, you completely changed my view and intake of music, rest in peace.

Argh his new Album is so good, fusion of rock and jazz with electronic beats thrown in. What a genius David Bowie was. I'm so grateful for the music he made, and the last musical gift he gave will be treasured by me. See you in Freecloud.

The horns and woodwinds are so fucking satisfying in this...

I am actually shocked. A huge loss. His music covers so much time and so many genres. He produced an amazing body of work over the years.

Rest in Peace.

Bowie...damn.

I always adored him as an artist, always wanted to listen to his backlog but it was so daunting that I felt it impossible. As an actor he was always my favorite part when he showed up. Labyrinth and Ziggy Stardust were my access to him.

But even if I can't say I listened to his work, I loved the man to death and this truly truly hurts.

But he looked so well! Man, what a shitty way to start the week.

Rest in Peace, you beautiful man. You were awesome.

This isn't the kind of news a person should awake to.

When my girfriend gave me the news my first instint, like so many in the first few pages of this thread, was to dismiss it as some fake news that someone posts on facebook. I didn't want to believe.

Seems like yesterday that spotify gave me a notification that Bowie was releasing a new album...

2016 is starting really bad. First Lemmy, yesterday was Otis Clay and now Bowie. We are getting poorer.

RIP Goblin King, you'll be dearly missed.

I'm not usually into avatar fads but you don't get a reason to dress (your avatar) up like a real cool cat every day.

thanks a whole lot!

Seriously, everybody should take a listen to Lazarus. It really, truly feels like his parting gift to all of his fans.

Listening to it again feels... eerie. The lyrics are haunting and relieving at the same time.

As sad as today is, the next few weeks are going to suck as his detractors come out and play.

I already have two of them in the family saying shit.

Edit: taking that bit out, I don't want to smear shit on this day even though I'm pissed at insensitive people.

your family is strange.

I just can't get past the fact that Bowie intentionally turned his death into an art, the final act of his career and life.

It's such an extreme and dramatic thing to do. But then again, that's what Bowie did best.

Seeing more and feeling less
Saying no but meaning yes
This is all I ever meant
That's the message that I sent

What a horrible thing to wake up to. I'm devastated.

Was never hugely into David Bowie but I really like a lot of his stuff and I always had mad respect for him. The guy was a music making machine. My very first karaoke song a few years ago (I'm generally not the type to sing karaoke) was Under Pressure, the Bowie part.

God damn, didn't even make it to his 70s. RIP

I'm still trying to figure this out and let it sink in. The timing, the lyrics, the artistry....

Blackstar may be the most transcendent album put out by any artist.
