2016 PC Screenshot Thread of No Compromises

Dogmeat does not agree with these threads apparently.....

Much better... but something is still missing!

Ah now we're ready ;)

Some pics I like from DSII Scholar of the First Sin. I took the randomly but I really like the look of this game. Rocking that Looking Glass Knight armor (minus the gloves).

What's wrong with the focus in these shots?
It's an emulation of (or maybe the same?) post-processing filter of the PS2 version.

The vanilla PC release is missing most of the effects that softened the image in the PS2 game and especially in motion made the game look very sterile. Comparison image between vanilla PC and PS2 and modded PS2-like PC version: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-...AAAAAAA4g/yAGajbWJ39g/w1118-h279-no/PS2FS.png

Lots of the missing effects such as the reflection shaders on vehicles, lens flares, blurred rotors, and other items were added back into the PC version thanks to the hard work of modders! You can read more about a lot of the mods they've created (and which I'm using, thanks modders!) here: http://gtaforums.com/topic/749193-ps2-features-to-pc-index/

In these screens you can see some of the effects that were added back into the game thanks to these guys :)

Even the draw distance of many of the environment/pedestrians/cars and these effects (e.g. shadows or car headlights) are very moddable which is fantastic so you can really push the GTA SA engine to it's very limits.

Here you can see the reflection shader on the cars which is missing from the vanilla game, as well as increase draw distance of shadows even on the very far away pedestrians.

And this pic is unrelated to that talk, except for the draw distance of items like foliage and overall draw distance which is very much increased compared to the vanilla game.

The 100th Vigilante mission gives you $500,000 (which conversely costs real-life money in game in GTA V to obtain so fast.... >.>).... takes about 30 min to do 100 missions in the Hunter Apache chopper. Gives you a total of approximately $16,700,000. If you go up to 200 you can hit around $90,000,000 in one run.

The hardest part about it to be honest is getting a bite to eat when you are hungry in the middle of the Vigilante mission, if you stray from police vehicles for 60 seconds it's game over! :)

Vanilla outfit or mod?

Vanilla, no costume mods at all, just the women's version of that clothing item.
I think that's the Grognak the Barbarian outfit.
Yep!

Took me a while to shoot down that Hydra with the Hunter haha, had to use the auto-aim machine guns, the trouble is you have to get pretty close to do any real damage!

Before anyone asks.... yes I did shoot out the tires of the car right after this screenshot, shout out to all the Mafia players out there who know what's up ;)

If I ever learn how to play H&D2 properly I'll eventually take some screens of that too. Could post some Vietcong maybe later, I should have some of those around.

Wow those Euro Truck look great, vanilla or any mods? Nice lighting and shaders.

Thanks! It's the vanilla, no mods.

DD your shots normally aren't this low res or un-aliased...what happened?
I can't, for the love of gzuz, get a good IQ in this game. It's impressive if you consider that this is an indie game, given the scales and everything, but it's not the best looking game out there, for sure. The game has a builtin MLAA solution that don't do much to help, so I'm forcing MSAA 8x via the AMD Crimson that isn't helping either. I don't know if it's some particularity with this engine or anything else... :P

EDIT: some of the blur is because of the photomode's blur (DOF) effect, which I reduced but didn't eliminated it completely. That aside, it's the same IQ as in game. But even in game (as one can see from that 5th screen), things still looks kind of blurry and aliased.

Intel i7-2600k @ 4.4ghz (1.27V, offest -.05)
dual MSi 970's @ 1360 / 7120 (they will do 1392 / 7408)

Thanks. I just started the game and thought about trying to DS but my single 970 isn't gonna do it.

It's not you. Euro Truck Simulator 2 has horrific image quality. Even running the game at 4K with 200% scaling, and downsampling to 1080p, didn't look much better than downsampling from 2880 x 1620 in any other game.

I received a tip on the ETS2 OT, and I'll see if I can at least improve a little bit over that. Can't do much tho. My PC is not that great. =/

Wow, take a step back man. Re-read, comprehend and apologize. The game is ugly as shit is what I'm saying.
Guys, no need to fight over my pics. I know the game doesn't look that great, but I posted the pics anyway to show my appreciation towards it. It's an amazing indie game, and I love it, no matter how it looks. :>

if you haven't already, i'd suggest:

Post processing
-disable in-game AA solution (HBAO+ etc)
-enable FXAA through Nvidia Control Panel

Graphics
-disable Nvidia Hairworks
-dial shadows back to medium
-dial grass density back to high
-dial foliage draw distance back to high

see what kind of performance those settings get you.

Thanks, will try this out tonight.

Be aware that using FXAA in nvidia control panel will not show up in screenshots. It's sufficient to enable SMAA using reshade/sweetfx though. The in-game AA is terrible for still images, but great for moving images, I'd use a combination of SMAA and in-game AA.

It's indeed difficult to get it to run on 60fps on non-top-of-the-line hardware, I settled for locked 30fps which turned out to be smooth (on my 780). It could do higher at places than 30fps but it would introduce stuttering as the monitor is 60hz.

Additionally, see the nivdia tweak guide to see what impact a given setting has: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/gu...-hunt-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide
