The Witness - Release Date Trailer, coming 26th January 2016

I can't believe this game is so close now! I've been eagerly anticipating it since it was first unveiled. I asked for a Steam Link from my wife for Christmas pretty much specifically for this game. Firewatch coming out next is a nice bonus though.

I can't wait to kick back on the couch with my clipboard and graph paper, and fully immerse myself in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if this is priced at $40, but at this point I would drop $100 on it without a second thought.

It's really exciting that so much of The Witness has been kept secret. Seeing all of the surprising things it has to offer will be glorious.

Wow, I didn't even know this game was releasing so soon since I didn't really follow the game. As an old Myst fan the release trailer looks really promising. Chances of me playing this after the Gravity Rush Remaster are climbing.

More games need isolated island settings!

I used to follow the blog in the first year of the game's development, but decided to go on complete blackout since then. Couldn't resist the launch trailer though so I watched that one, but even then I still have the most basic of ideas regarding what the game is about.

It may not be good business practice how Blow is handling marketing (we don't even know the price 10 days away from release for fuck's sake lol), but I love that he decided to do it this way.

I've read every single article about the game, listened to every podcast that mentions The Witness or Jonathan Blow, and watched every interview and gameplay walkthrough video. And I still feel like I barely know a thing about the game. I know what to expect initially and what design paradigms will be integrated, but I feel like it's going to go in some truly unexpected directions that will be joyous to behold. Just seeing the first handful of puzzles being solved is interesting as hell. The way the maze mechanics build, along with your intrinsic knowledge gained from solving prior ones is so fascinating. I am expecting to see some Fez-level stuff in this game. I imagine coming across panels that are strikingly obscure with no way to wrap your mind around them until much later on. I am looking forward to that process of working through the world and developing my own language and solutions for interacting with it.

I really love how enigmatic this project has been for that reason. Having the chance to go into a game this vast and dense without knowing all that much about it, in spite of closely following the development, is a rare gift.

EDIT: wrong thread, sorry

I am prepared. Been waiting a long time. C'mon, Blow...
