Suicide Squad Official Trailer

On top of being the reveal where we got our first looks at everybody in motion, there was something really special about that trailer. Just mesmerizing... The song choice(or that particular version of it) was haunting and will forever be tied to that trailer while Queen is Queen.

That trailer also blew up every bit as fast as this one, even edging out the BvS comic-con trailer.

I doubt that required a ton of work. Trailers are not exactly a science.

A science? No of course not. You could say that about putting editing together a film. But so isn't being a pro sports player, an actor, etc...

If a trailer wasn't too hard then why do so many movie trailers (including BVS trailer 2) suck really bad? The whole purpose of a trailer is for people to be interested in a film/show yet several fail at it.

Real or shop?

Real. I paused it there too when I downloaded the .mov version last night. Some are guessing it's an OMAC.

Man, some of you are really taking what I said as some sort of insult.

Well, it's just factually inaccurate. Short formats can be some of the hardest things to edit for, and it's definitely a science and an art. Trailers, music videos, short films, commercials. These are hardly low effort stuff.

Because that's all subjective, isn't it? What some consider a bad trailer some think is a great trailer. Look in this very thread. There are people on both sides of the coin. Even BvS Trailer 2, a lot of GAF hated it but hit YouTube and a very different picture gets painted. It's not about being bad at making trailers.

I never said these things were made by people who lacked experience.

My word, I can see the "mohawk". Sadly if it is, it will probably just be an OMAC pre-52, not the best new character (that is MASSIVELY underused) of the New 52.

True, people have different opinions on things, including trailers. But you can say the same thing for everything like a movie or a show. People who say the trailer is awesome may think the trailer is actually awesome. Cool, they have a right to think that. But something like BVS is hard to not be bias since the trailer is also showing the Trinity for the first time, Lex Luthor, and Doomsday.

How many people have actually gone into detail on Youtube on what the trailer has done right as a TRAILER (I can state countless things that I believe it did wrong, IMO). Most people are excited about the content from the trailer rather than the trailer itself. Which you could say the trailer did it's job and I would completely agree with you. It even got me excited for it.

On the other hand, if you aren't that excited to see the trinity (or care) the trailer might just turn you off it such spoilers on a film that won't come out for months (in which let me remind everyone that many people don't look at spoilers or see who the main villain is or look up who is casted or what the plot is), a 1 second pause with literally no sound or imagery at all that is complete random (that is something I would do as a college student), and so many weird/awkward scenes cut together that probably will be good in the movie but just come off awkward in the trailer.

But the point isn't really if BVS is a bad trailer or even if there are bad trailers (which, my god, there are. I can even show you some of MY movie trailers I have made in college). Just that there was hard work put into this. I'm sorry if this came off like a rant, I know you didn't mean to say anything serious. But one wouldn't say a football player doesn't put into any effort since all it is is throwing a ball. Even though it is MUCH harder than that and complicated.

DC sucks balls and Marvel is tripe too. Having said that TDKR is better than 80% of MCU movies.

This trailer was good by the way. Mildly interested.

Nah, didn't come off as a rant. Just felt like people were taking what I said in its worst possible context. I think someone a few posts up said I equated it to "my kid can do it" which is not what I said at all, lol. I've been in enough back and forths on GAF you would think by now I would have learned just how carefully a post needs to be worded. :P

You can tell which movie has genuine heart and effort being put into it and which one is being turned by cogs in a machine from this picture.

Or they were told by the photographer to look like they're having fun. It makes sense for them since they're starring in a team film, not a versus film.

You're looking at a single snapshot from what was likely a 1+ hour shoot. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Okay, this has come up enough time sin the thread and in other places that's I'm really curious. What is it about the tone of the movie which people feel has changed in this trailer? Because it really doesn't feel that way to me. The tone of the first trailer an this one is similar, the only difference is there is more footage this time and there are lamer tag lines at the end (Worst Heroes Ever is stupid as hell).

When you see the new trailer do you really see an upbeat comedy with "bad" people like Guardians of the Galaxy? Because I don't. I see a bunch of crazy people who are clearly mentally unhinged and they cope by trying to be funny. There's a very hard edge doom and gloom tone, and the "humor" seems to be a defence mechanism. Don't really see this as that different from most films Ayer has done. Crime ensembles with character focus and people are going to die. That Guardians aren't bad people, they're just punks. The Suicide Squad are by and large.... very bad people. There's no redemption story here.[/QUOTE
Yeah, One of guys is locked up for eating people ffs

If it makes you feel better, I understood what you meant. :)

And you're also right that you don't have to be the best editor to make a trailer. Give me a few more years of experience and work with professionals and even I may be able to do something like that and I am certainly not the brightest bulb.

Don't you know? Photographs are the window into a person's soul, and from that picture it's obvious that none of the BvS cast has any.

to Comic Con, I mean look at the BvS cast...are they afraid to have fun? Zack is not doing his job correctly. Ayer has SWAG!

I'm starting to wonder if that second photo was intentional. Could they have been trying to show the difference between the two movies? BvS is super serious and urgent while SS is just fun.

It likely is, truthfully. I stand by my comment though :P Man of Steel burned me bad, man, and I have enough reasons to believe that Batman v. Superman will be more of the same. Hopefully not! Truthfully, hopefully not, but I do not believe that Snyder has it in him to pump out a quality film.

The Squad look dope as fuck though and I'm am extremely optimistic that their movie will be awesome.

Watched the trailer again and liked it more. I'd say I'm more excited for this than BvS. Hopefully they can handle the ensemble cast well, seems like there is a lot going on.

Well I'm glad someone did, haha.

And maybe in a few years time I'll see some epic ass trailer you made. I likely won't know you made it though so I'll just pick some random trailer 5 years from now that I thought was amazing and tell everyone it was you. :P

11 million views in 1 day? Is that good? It seems good.

I know someone already replied basically saying yeah. But a good comparison with say Deadpool (very graphic in language and violence so more fair than say the BVS trailer, but also more popular than most if not all of the SS):

On January 19th, Suicide Squad released that trailer (one day ago): 11,690,990.

The first Deadpool trailer 1 (red band) has the most views out of all Deadpool trailers. It was released on August 4, 2015 (more than 5 months ago). It has: 35, 260, 213.

Then it goes Deadpool trailer 1 normal (posted on MovieClips account) and came out on the same day (later in the day): 20,539,589.

Then the same trailer except released on 20th Century Fox: 13,103,56.

As you can see, the SS (a movie that while having famous actors in it, is in the middle of all these superhero films everyone has been dying to see) has managed to a huge amount of people to watch the trailer. And it has only been 1 day.

Man like night and day. Like, in ensemble pieces like Avengers or Captain America, you can tell the actors are having fun. In Suicide Squad, they are having fun. In BvS it's like...they should be having fun. There's a fine line in acting for being serious, and being joyful. For a superhero movie, you should be having fun doing it.

And half of them will be getting killed for it.

Just by being villains doesn't make them all unsympathetic or not fun to watch. Even Killer Croc has been humanized from time to time. People still want to see Harley break free from a horribly damaging emotional reliance on the Joker. Deadshot is still just a dude wanting to do right for his daughter. We don't know all their relationship dynamics or how they'll all play off one another, but there's an inherent difference in tone between the last trailer and this one.

I think another factor is Suicide Squad was still filming. Batman v Superman had been done a long while. They weren't seeing each other every day and likely just wanted to leave. Affleck is trying to hide his divorce emotions.

This reminds me in
TDKR there was a lot of photos where Bale was laughing in the bat suit. It's was hilarious

Oh, right, he was going through that. Possibly!

People reading way too much into that photo, for all we know this movie could suck and BvS turn out great.

I really doubt a photo of the cast having fun is any indication of each film quality.
