The original purpose of the team was very different. It was only after they overhauled the concept later that it became about expendable villains. That first team was Rick Flag Jr., Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bronze Tiger, Enchantress, and Blockbuster.

It was originally a team meant to fill in for the JSA who were slowly retiring. It wasn't this morally ambiguous concept or anything, just a bunch of government agents (including Rick Flagg).

It's John Ostrander who completely reworked the concept into what we know now with a bunch of convicted villains.

No idea. Never read the Silver Age SS stuff. Probably why Ostrander reinvented the concept into what he did. It's a cool fucking name though, why wouldn't you use it?

Hat guy is Johnny Frost, you see him shooting the chaingun in the trailer next to the Joker (after they show him firing that AK) and he has a badge saying "Frost" on it. Not sure who the other guy is, but he looks like the one Joker is holding when he says he wants to show him his toys.

Seen the trailer 7 times now. It doesn't really show anything more than what we already know. A few actions sequences, a bad (bad) guy and some humour.

I don't think any other superhero movie trailer beats it.
