Yeah, and my parents believe that they're literally drinking blood and eating flesh when they take communion. Tons of people believe in the power of prayer. Having factually incorrect beliefs doesn't make you delusional or mentally ill. The question is whether you're hurting yourself or others by your irrational belief - and the only way she's hurting herself is because of dickweeds giving her shit for it.
But again, it's not so much about her as it is about you guys - about what your instinctive reaction is when you're confronted with weirdness that, as they say, neither breaks your arm nor picks your pocket. If it's harmless, but stupid/not justifiable/ even untrue, what's your reaction? this thread doesn't make me optimistic that we've gleaned the deeper lessons we should have from the struggle for gay rights.
