Serkan Toto Rumor: Bandai Namco making several NX games, including a Smash for launch

As a competitive sm4sh player I really hope they don't add new characters since it might hurt the scene for people to need a new console to stay competitive.

New characters would be the only way this sells anything to make it worth their time. Plus the prospect of new amiibo for new characters means they'll probably make sure they can get at least 2-3 characters just for new amiibo functionality.

Or they could just port it for the new audience. It allows a smash game to be at the launch of their new system, which I am assuming they want to sell more than the Wii U in the first place. It's definitely worth it.

TLOU PS4 port didn't add anything other than tiny fixes and it sold quite a bit. I'm pretty sure people would have been upset if they added major exclusive content (like, gameplay content, not tiny stuff like camera mode) to that edition as well.

Tekken 7 seems reasonable.

Maybe a Tales port.

As a matter of fact, the official Tekken 7 console announcement PR, strangely enough, didn't state that the game is coming to PS4/One/PC, but to "home platforms", with no specification on the matter.

zestaria launched last october

In Japan, Zestiria came out in January and was PS3 exclusive. The PS4 and PC versions were produced mainly for the western market's later October launch. So it was close, but not quite.

EDIT: Wait, is Berseria cross-gen, actually? I think I heard it was? So that'd make it the first regardless of an NX port or not.

Nintendo has never launched a new console with a straight port. The previous gen games have always been enhanced in some way when ported to the new console.

They very rarely make ports that don't have some kind of new feature.

Pokken I think seems more like a port job because TPC has all these grand plans for it and it'll likely come out a few months before the NX. Splatoon seems like it's get a sequel if only because it's been out for a little while.

I can see Pokken getting a Tekken-esque update that builds on the base but adds a decent amount of new content. Middle ground between a sequel and a port.

My thinking is that it could get an arcade update with new stuff and this would be the basis for the console update.

Ah, there we go. Okay, so we know multiplat launches are something Namco are open to with Tales now. Neat!

Uh, yeah they did. Twilight Princess, which is the same game but with wiimote support, is clearly a gamecube port. They could make a lot of money just from these ports, capitalizing on remasters to pad out the early library like other publishers do.

There's always a chance they're going to forego their traditional methods and mimic what countless other devs do and find success with (tlou, gta v etc) in order to bolster the NX catalogue in the first 18 months.

Just because it has never happened before, doesn't mean it can't.

A Smash port with better online performance and overall performance would be nice I think. And some extra goodies like new stages and characters would be welcomed too, I'm sure.

I hope they pull an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and make some good gameplay changes to Smash 4 (well, UMvC3's changes were arguable, but, the concept).

The flood of rumors is always the worst part of any new system announcement...

It's only the worst when the rumors aren't credible or are predictions, yet western game media finds ways to make it sound like confirmed information.

Credible rumors from well-informed sources like this is great, though! Just enough information to feel like it's newsworthy, but vague enough to still have many questions about it.

told yallllllllllllllll
smash with all dlc characters, ice climbers , wolf, SNAKE, pichu , basically any cut character
add in dlc stages too and cut stages
basically a celebration of every smash game, to make people dive in and buy an NX

I will only buy an NX if smash is there on launch , got burned out on wii u's launch and not gonna let it happen again unless this and other great games come out

Gotta be honest, I'd be disappointed if it was Melee HD. I know many still play and adore Melee, but that it's so fast and heavy is always a turn-off for me (I think I got too used to the newer games). It'd be still be cool, but I can't imagine that being changed in a NX port (not that it should; don't wanna ruin it for others. I just wanna enjoy it again!).

It'll probably happen sometime down the road, but I'd rather have Smash 4 NX.

I'd like them to half everyone's aerial landing lag in Smash 4, allow characters to dash dance, and allow characters to crouch out of dash. No L-canceling. No directional air dodges. Would make controlling characters a ton of fun.

Unfortunately this will never happen and it makes me sad.

Melee HD isn't the game to launch a console with anyway, it would certainly attract the Melee crowd but they're nothing to public at large.
