Anyone on PC experiencing some severe hitching and random lockups? The game would lock up every 5 seconds while in combat out in the open world. It made the game really unplayable and would happen regardless of the graphics settings.

i5 4690k @ 3.50Ghz
GTX 970 4GB
8GB of RAM

EDIT: fixed

Also, holy shit at these bullet sponges. This is do far beyond Destiny. How am I gonna shoot somebody with a shotgun 5x point blank only to see them drop a grenade and peace out like nothing even happened.

Not getting this complaint at all. Enemies seem to drop fine for me with a few controlled bursts to the noggin. I had no problems at all and I don't even consider myself to have that great of an aim.
Maybe it's just the shotgun? I have not used it.

The Dark Zone feels like absolute horseshit so far. Does the game really expect me to try the co-op missions without the savages around killing and looting me all the time?

I played for an hour last night and really enjoyed it. It seemed barren at first, but after doing great the hospital mission and finding the map in the base that gives you side missions, it really opened up. Found a chest on a roof top that had a little navigation puzzle to get to it and it had a blue lmg inside. Great feels.

Anyone play the alpha on Xbox and then play the beta? What's different this time around? Is more of the map open?

There's a couple more roads open between the main area and the DZ, and they added landmark indicators to the DZ to show where the significant enemy spawns are. Other than that, and the usual collection of bugfixes and balance tweaks, etc, it seems to mostly be the same.

yeah...I didn't have any problems with enemies taking too long to die

they also seem to not be that stupid...they'll get to cover most of the time and not just stand around (it's not perfect but it's a lot better than I expected given people's remarks before)

Trying the PS4 version now, holds up rather well and definitely still looks amazing.

Playing the PC version at 1440p with every setting cranked though is on a different level.(Need to mess around more, don't think SLI is working properly. I get 44-60fps in 1440p and it drops to 3fps in 4K.)

Probably going to double dip on this one.

The gameplay is fun so far, firefights still feel realivly authentic despite its RPG nature, the disconnect of kill times I was kind of worried about didn't come into play at all.

Controls and HUD is fantastic, and I like the basic concept/lore.

Unfortunately, since I am night shift I likely won't get to experience coop with my friends. But going Solo this far has been more entertaining than expected. Definitely going to play coop the majority of the time when the game releases

Overall. Impression is that it meets my high expectations.

Only real dissapointment so far is lack of GI on PC. But I'll get over it. The game still looks amazing, but it could've been, "the best".

This game is so far below my expectations it's unreal and I didn't have high expectations to begin with.

First of all, my God, it looks like ass. The player character renders are soooooooo much higher quality then literally everything else on screen it's incredibly distracting. Couple that with the constant recycled textures (lmfao at the copy paste repeat clutter strewn about and the somehow immaculate graffiti), a very noticeable lack of wear and dirt where you would expect to see it and bizzare world lighting/shading and you get this weird toy box looking aesthetic that goes against everything the game tries to set itself up as.

The there's the matter of there being more HUD elements on my screen than there are bullets in my clip. Why? Half this shit isn't necessary. At all. I don't understand why devs think overwhelming amounts of HUD elements is good or attractive design. It's not. It straight up breaks immersion at every turn. I can't stand that shit.

Also, holy shit at these bullet sponges. This is do far beyond Destiny. How am I gonna shoot somebody with a shotgun 5x point blank only to see them drop a grenade and peace out like nothing even happened.

Then there's the voice acting. I want to punch that radio dude in his pompous face. But at least he comes off as human which is more than I can say for pretty much every other piece of voice acting I've heard in the game so far.

I've never been so baffled by a games design decisions in my life. So far this shit is the opposite of fun for me. Thank God I didn't have to preorder to get my beta key. I've never been more confused on what the hell is going on in a game and that's despite umpteen things popping up to tell me what to do and where to go.

Looking in here people are actually enjoying this beta? I just can't fathom it. Maybe I'm just that sick of open world BS. But hey more power to y'all but this is just not for me. I just... wow I did not expect to see positive reactions at all.

It's time to leave your room my friend. Get some fresh air, hop into it again tomorrow or delete it from your hard drive.

Just played it for 3 hours straight.. which I never do normally playing games.

I am pretty happy, can see myself sinking a lot of time into this game. Definitely a day one purchase for me. The Tom Clancy games are some of my favourites and this is very fun for me too.

Dark Zones aren't great so far, pretty empty just other groups of players and AI running around. Then you can extract your stuff / fight off players. But there are no actual missions to do in the zone.

He's going to play it again later today and like it isn't he aha. Yeah I suggest you take a break from it. Or maybe the game just isn't for you which is fine. Game is alright though, I don't understand why you are so angry.

Crikey, it's quite a looker on PS4! the detail level is pretty incredible, with the IQ and performance to match. They've certainly delivered on the tech side of things. And yes, a mention for the music aswell, very nice indeed.

I'm with you on all of this. I think people will realize that there's not going to be much to do. They'll get tired of fighting bullet sponge humans that set up like a dunk hunt gallery and funnel towards you in waves, utilizing the same routes over and over. They'll soon tire of exploring areas that all look the same. We'll see loads of complaints that there is not enough content.

I dont think the game is "bad"; however, i don't think it's going to be anything close to a hit. I really wanted to see it give Destiny a run for it's money but i just can't see it lasting more than a few months as "something new to play besides Destiny that's kind of like Destiny".

Loving the impressions so far

Gunplay is good/Gunplay is shit
Game is pretty/Game is ugly
Enemies are spongy/Enemies go down quickly
AI is decent/AI is awful
Dark zone is fun/Dark zone is shit

Yeah, opinions and all. But it's funny.

I don't even understand the point of this zone. Expected something bigger, more dynamic, and a better meld of PvE and PvP. Instead it's just deathmatch.

Not really angry just incredibly disappointed. I don't even feel like I had that high if an expectation going in though. I just had no fun whatsoever with it and that, frankly, surprised me.

For those of you guys playing, how does the game look and feel? Promising game and living up to the hype?

How's the battle, game play, progression, loot and that strategic gameplay?

I'm curious as a potential PS4/X1 customer.

Tried it out for a bit and I absolutely dislike how borked the text is on the PS4 version. It's like it's not scaled properly. Not quite clear and has all sorts of artifacts.

God it's annoying.

I'm loving the game so far. Looks and plays great. I just hope the actual product has plenty of content and doesn't feel like Destiny at launch.

It has become my worry... do we know how many areas there are in the game on top of the one available in Beta? It doesn't look too large... I'd say equivalent to a planet in Destiny. Thankfully there is a usable map this time around!

But if there are 3-4 of these, it is Destiny all over again. And in Destiny each section of each planet stands out enough that you can learn your way around... in this game everything looks the same... city buildings. I would not know where i am if it wasn't for the map... so exploring will be very unsatisfying I'm thinking...

And I did pre-order this... paid in full... $80cdn...

Curious here please don't take this as me being an ass.

You don't feel a giant disconnect in authenticity/reality when you have to shoot other, unarmored human characters point blank with a firearm in the face numerous times for him/her to die? That doesn't contrast everything else in the game that seems to strive to portray a city, it's people and the pandemic in a completely realistic nature?

I'm not judging at all. I just find this area a huge concern myself and i was curious to see how others felt about it.

The dark zone is something we need to wait until the game has been out for a couple of days to see how it works. In the beta people are just screwing around.

This is the worst thing so far. Everything on the screen is a jumbled mess.

Performance is not as good as I hoped (I hope this is down to being beta)

i7-5930k
SLI 980s

At 1440p on the auto detect settings I get any where from 40-50 FPS average but it doesn't feel smooth at all.

If I crank the settings up I'm luck to get 30 FPS.

SLI scaling says it's working (both cards are being used) but I almost consider it unplayable at the moment.

I am using (or trying to) use G-Sync, not sure if there are any issues with it at the moment.

Oddly enough I seem to get worse performance in Fullscreen vs Borderless.

Can someone post a picture from the PS4 version showing the in-game hud? Preferably PNG so I can see if this text scaling issue is on my end or the games.

Sli 980 as well. Performance is not as great as I had hoped :( this and tomb raider really did a number on them

Dark Zone is going to be very chaotic all of beta and at launch. The dynamic of it will change in time at release obviously. There will be pkers and people who's goal is to kill others, but also people will be way more careful when the game is out and they find a orange or two knowing they could lose it in a insant.

Remember no one cares right now, everything is being deleted.

Game is surprisingly decent so far. I was getting a kick out of recognizing restaurant awnings and the like (though they don't have any branding anymore of course) since I used to work in Chelsea. But then there's really weird stuff that reminds you that this was made by non-New Yorkers (a liquor store in a subway station? yeah right lol).

Oh and it looks really good on PC with maxed out settings. It's probably an average of 50fps though on my 980Ti.

Hmm..

aside from the fact that it looks awesome, I dont feel like the shooting feels that great. Feels like Splinter Cell or something.

I also do not like that everyone has a voice but your own character.

And there is little interactivity with the world, I found a christmas tree with balls in it and shot them, the bullets went straight through.

Also the reflections on the ground dont reflect all lights. Infamous Second Son does this wayy better.

Cool game tho, only just became lvl 5.

Not at all. It's done in such away that the gameplay feels right, and it helps suspend disbelief enough that it doesn't bother at all.

It was my primary concern going into this game, but it works very well.

It feels much more authentic than the firefights in several other games I love.

Deus Ex, Fallout 3/NV/4, Metal Gear Solid1-V, all have completely Unarmored and sometimes near naked enemies that can take .50BMG rounds to the face several times in a row without dying. And I managed to love those games.

It seems like it should completely disconnect you and break immersion, but when it feels right, you get used to it, and it plays well whist still immersing you.

Honestly, no more that putting 15 arrows in a human thug, while a buddy whacks him with an Ax 10 times and another buddy drops 3 exploding fireballs on him before the boss human thug dies in WoW.

Compare it with Uncharted 4 while you're at it. Lol.

This game literally has a lot more things on its mind to process and calculate. It obviously can't look as good because its online and there's all kinds of shit happening in the world simultaneously.

So, I havn't been following this game very closely in the last year. I've just been playing a few hours of the beta and am now in doubt:

Is Brooklyn and Central Park in this game or not? In earlier trailers we saw scenes from Brooklyn and in an interview with a developer Central Park was confirmed.

But these areas doesn't seem to be part of the in game map. Have they been removed? Maybe saved for expansions? Or will they be there at release?

Well finished the hospital mission and got to level 5. I'm going to go back to The Witness for now. I didn't feel anything too great from that short experience. It certainly wasn't bad, but it didn't compel me to stay and waste more time.

Maybe I'll try it again later after classes.

What is there for me to do if I have no interest in the dark zone? I did a mission where I saved the med bay woman and that seems like all I can do apart from randomly walk around

VE3TRO

Found a group of 3 looting a body and I shot the grenade that one of them had on their belt and it exploded killing all 3. Really enjoying the game, just need to team up with some people.
