Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

I like the New York stage. It will be my default. No 30 fps npcs on that one. I wonder why the stages are so inconsistent.

So increased throw stun, better anti-air hurtbox for v-skill, increased super damage, increased cr.hp damage, slightly safer v-reversal, and Non-VT Psycho blast range increase are all nerfs to normal Bison?

The changes to St.mk and HP make them slightly harder to whiff punish as well. Wow he really is getting a ton of nerfs.

These are tiny changes that are almost imperceptible during normal play. The only exception is the V-Skill change, which I haven't played with yet. +10 damage here isn't the kind of stuff that makes a character good, while entirely losing tools does.

Also, that Psycho Blast "buff" is misleading. It's still worse in range than Beta 1. In Beta 2 they annihilated the range and made the move unsafe (WUT), and now it's just less shitty. It still has a bad hitbox IMO. The animation goes out notably farther than the hitbox.

None of this excuses stuff like removing head stomp OTG, which was just really cool. It's frustrating to see things removed that there's no reason to remove: it's just killing fun stuff.
 
It's so funny, remember when sf4 came out and I wanted a stick so bad, then when I got a madcatz te and started playing I realized a stick didn't equal auto win mode.

Now playing sf5 with a pad and I feel so handicapped without my fight stick.

I hope Amazon ships mine out in the 1st wave because I am garbage with a pad.
 
Holy shit...I used to be an OK SFIV player. I won most games I played, knew all game mechanics I could even FADC but it's been 4 or 5 years since I played SF and I'm getting destroyed now.

I'm feeling like a total noob...

I wish I could spend more time in training mode

or figure out what Im doing, But from what I've been playing Karin is my girl.

Just like Julia from SFxT.

Tiny changes add up to create an overall solid character. Also, as far as I can tell, Psycho blast leave you at far less disadvantage on block than even lk scissors, clearly intended for block string use over scissor kicks.

They removed OTG because they removed it from everyone. After the initial "OMG OTG" shock wore off, I have to admit it doesn't really fit the game as it is now.

Yeah it's pretty fucking bad. The last two beta phases weren't an issue for me but in this one pretty much everyone is laggy, literally teleporting all over the screen.

You can turn off main menu fight request, the option to turn off Training Mode fight request is currently disabled.

I was playing with Vega, but I though I wasn't adapting well to his new motion commands so I tried playing with Ryu since he is pretty basic. Still getting rekt! Lol

I understand that most people playing the beta are fairly good players, but I always managed to hold my own on SFIV even against evidently better players, but now no matter how I play I'm having trouble winning against people spamming dragon punches! Lol

Try Birdie. Big damage, small combos, great normals.
 
I've been playing Street Fighter my entire life, and I consider myself to be an above average player competitively. I cannot win a SINGLE match in this game. What the FUCK is up with this? I don't understand what is happening. Everything feels so slow with a bazillion frames of recovery.
 
Was doing pretty decently with Karin today, good matches, went about 50/50

Tried getting some training in with Dhalsim, got nothing, sucked ass with the character, figured I'll wait until the game actually releases so I can spend time in training without getting interrupted every 15 seconds to fight with him.

HOWEVER

Decided to play Ken since I really hadn't in the last betas.

Three ragequits. One of em came in the first round. I wanna give 'em the benefit as it's a beta so who ragequits, but two of em came in the third round.

People don't mind getting beaten by Karin, but getting beaten by Ken pisses em off.

It's not like any of this shit is going to carry over. Dunno why people are being so protective

I have multiple reasons

1: Maybe they're feminists and support Karin succeeding in her chosen profession, but hate Ken because he's a little bitch
2: Everybody's playing like they're in EVO so they get super pissed when they get got
3: The connection is ass
4: I just didn't want to let you win

Who are you playing?

There's a normal priority system, so mashing jab on wakeup will now get you wrecked- it won't trade, it'll get beaten by any medium or hard attack from the opponent.
