Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Downloaded the beta today (PS4), probably played like 6 hours straight -_-

The game is amazing, spent the entire time playing Mika.

I thought her rope toss grab was supposed to work full screen again? It wasn't working for me, the opponent would just fall if it wasn't done close to the wall.

This is pretty much the first time I've played an SF in 5 years (I skipped SF4). Lost quite a bit today and won a decent amount as well, was hovering around the 1K points mark most of the time.

If you see a Mika jumping like a rabbit all over the place then it's probably me, telling a KOF player not to jump is like telling him not to breathe lol.

I have a Qanba Q4 that I want to mod. Where is a good place to pick up some Sanwa buttons and possibly a new joystick? My buttons feel a little too mushy for me. Thanks in advance.

I will be honest: I picked to play Karin because I love how she looks.
But I am really loving how she plays. She is really fun to play and I am having a blast with her. I usually play shoto characters like Ryu and Ken in previous games but I think I will be sticking with Karin.

Dash back to force the wall-bounce, then dash forward and hit them with a QCF+HK (0-meter follow-up) or a sHK to QCF+KK (1-meter follow-up).

Me vs. a Nash player

Nothing special, but I think it's an alright depiction of my current skill level. I've got a lot to learn; I feel like I'm still trying to approach this game as though I had more mobility options like an ASW fighter or SSB4.

Some damn good matches but...where's the music?

Thanks. I turn the music off after a bit of playing keeps me zen. Sometimes I play my own beats/music but was digging just the ambient noise for now.

After hearing the NY stage music again though I should probably turn it back on.

I managed to play a bit of the beta last night... I'm really happy with match making now. The last couple of betas I struggled to get a game, now I can get a game within a minute of searching at most. That's a huge improvement! Online match quality was varying though, I had one incredibly smooth match, and one against someone in the USA that was insanely choppy.

I'll give it more play today, but so far I'm much happier that I can actually get a match now, once I can restrict matchmaking to Europe (or the UK) in the full version I'll be even happier, that should sort out the last of my netcode woes (in theory).

My god, I've finally done it. I have been playing for well over 12 hours and have now amassed over 1000 League Points. I'm level 11 while my Nash is at level 6. I have seen and learned so much, and improved tremendously.

Lauras can't tase me
Rashid's flips don't phase me
Mixups and command grabs can't contain me
Laggy Kens with their "full screen HK Tatsu into HP/EX Shoryu" tactics don't even graze me

I have ascended

I've been playing practically all day. I think I should probably stop because my play is getting sloppy now haha, Good night everybody, see you tomorrow beta.

I've uploaded a bunch of R. Mika matches from today/tonight on my YouTube channel if people need a brush up on some mind games and Mika's read based strategy. :)

thanks, i've been trying to find good r mika footage since no one on twitch is playing mika currently.

That miiiight've been me. I just fought a Karin using EX Ressenha a lot to try and get out of trouble a lot. Name's bawlsaq. Honestly I find Karin one of the easier characters to fight as Nash.

Nah, haven't fought any bawlsaqs (lol). Doesn't surprise me though that another Karin was abusing ex ressenha to get out of trouble, as I feel it's obviously her best (and possibly, only) "get off me" move. So when a Karin player (most of them) feels pressured, and even more so against a solid Nash doing crossups, you can expect that move coming out often.

Thanks, I'll try incorporating those into my play tomorrow.

I've mostly been using these combos today:

sLK, sMP, QCF+LP
sLP, sLP, QCF+LP
fwd+HP, QCF+HK

Had a great time playing yesterday, I am not great but managed to win about half my games with Chun-Li and ended up with over 400LP which to be honest I was happy with!

Need to keep learning, I can see what I am doing wrong but find my execution isn't matching what I want, recently got a stick and still learning!

That's me in the mirror match, sorry for the day 1 Mika lol.

Had a lot of fun yesterday playing birdie. I want to try other characters, but even with ps4 and 5 bar connection settings I was getting matches every ten seconds.

Ended with about 40 wins and 3 losses. Only move I have to use more is normal bullhorn for vtrigger combo's. But I'm not used to zoink knuckle charge specials.

my chun's starting to feel less rough. I'm slow at getting decent at fighting games, so this is a process. I just finished a 15 win streak, beat some dudes in the top 100 during that and never felt like I was being outplayed at any point so I guess things are looking good.

I wanna play fang though :(

Done. Got bored. Nash is fair but not very fun.
I dunno how you pad players do it BTW my thumb hurts.
Feel like all Karin, Mika, and Laura players I've ran into suck.
Maybe Nash flow chart is just really good against them.

Literally every Rashid that I beat has rage quit on me. Not even joking. I beat 3 Rashids tonight and every single one of them rage quit before I got the win.

Nash as fun as fuck, but different strokes for different (terrible) folks.

Yah I kind of got bored of Nash already, but I did play him in most of the betas. Now I'm trying out Ken who is worse but somehow slightly more fun than Nash.
