Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Is there a way to message people you've fought inside the game? Doing it throug normal PS messages could be confusing if you're playing under a different name.

Yeah, I don't get it either especially when I do it from near full screen and people just sit there.

That said, I think the move is still legit since it's fast, but you'll stop getting as much mileage out of it with time

I think the thing about the grab is that it's airborne but is faster than his normal floaty jump so people look at him in the air and have to process if he's jumping or doing the grab so it's not as easy to anti air is what I think may cause people to get hit by it.

Oh i meant Gief's running grab

But what you said applies too

I'm calling it a night for now and stopping at 3500. See if I can get to the 4k club. I'll upload the matches I got tonight because I really what happened in a few of them.
Related, but there replay filters have the game going above 40,000+, so Capcom has a really different scale compared to SFIB for LP compare go SFIV player points.

So this is the first time I try to use Gief seriously in a game. So far I've had moderate success, but still, what are some tips and combos for him?

I'm not concentrating too much on combos here because they'll likely be changed for the final version. Right now I'm just getting used to Chun's moveset and bnb, and punishing. I'm getting a lot of mileage out of sweep punishing. Any other punishes you guys suggest I work on?

HP = High Punch.

LP MP HP = Low, Medium, High Punch
LK MK HK = Low, Medium, High Kick
HP->HP means, hitting HP twice in succession.

If you do use HP, only do it once. It's safe if they block it. Just do HP, then hold down back to block in case you don't get the hit. But if you do it twice, you will be punished. I'd stick to MP though.

Got it, thank you.

EDIT: Wow GAF giving me problems lol

Anti airs. Not sure which kick it is, but it has stuffed me so many times. Get that down consistently, and your Chun will be a pain to fight against.

Because you don't get to have the best offense in the game AND the best defense.

That actually ties back to what I was asking earlier. How exactly is Nash supposed to be played? You're saying he's offensive, right? I've found success just throwing out LP->MP and cr MP, but I'm not really sure if there's more to him.

Is anyone elses fight request settings not saving? Im trying to get some training in and the settins revert to default after i start the training mode

I swear every other match is pure teleportation. I think the netcode has gotten worse since Beta 2.

Choose from Moonsault to get in, Fireball covered approach, and regular ol' footsies. Very positive on block, too.

Moonsault is positive on block? O.o That's news to me.

I'm going to upload more videos but here is a quick example of micro-stuttering and micro-rollback. It gives me a headache to watch/play.
Also note the long ass loading times, that doesnt include 20 seconds load prior to when 'Another fight is coming your way'.

Compare it to Shackzam's video, although his is PS4 and in 720p (worse graphics) the gameplay is smoother and animations are fluid.

(Ignore my gameplay as I'm messing and jumping around. Before this match I just lost 600pp by recording rollback vids and testing stuff. I just want you to focus on the animations, when things connect, the rollback/stutter. Also the background animations, you can tell its not part of their slower 30fps animation but it's glitching/stuttering out. I could be wrong.)

So this is an example of a match that's the 'best scenario' for me, this is filtered to Network Connection of 5 only. 90% of my matches are worse than this, and not that anyone needs to see for proof but I'll still upload more to demonstrate. I just don't understand and don't think I can play this game online.

Weird. Maybe the server is assigning less delay for you for some reason?

Not such a good player myself but some tips I guess

St. mk da god button

St. Hp da god button with armor when people start counterpoking

Know his anti-airs: St jab, Cr. HP, Lariat. You can get away with St. HP sometimes but it's not recommended. Also Lariat has no invincibility in this version so use it for it's hitbox, not invincible properties. His other normals reach far, so you can potentially anti-air with other things like cr; mp but those are the best.

EX Running Bear Grab (360 Kicks) when you know they'll hit a button or throw a fireball. Don't really use it outside of that and reversal on wakeup if they pressure with a HP or HK for crush counters.

Block a lot more bc his SPD has 5 frame startup and he has no invincible moves now lol

Its not saving for me at all. reverting to on setting once i get into training :/

What he means is you can only turn it off for when you are on the menus (turning it on will allow you to get fight matched even when you're in the menu). You cannot disable it in the training room. All you can really do is set it to record; while recording actions for the dummy it suspends searching for an opponent. So you can pick who you want to practice with as P2 and just let it record, then reset it every 100 seconds (which is the max duration).

Yeah, it doesn't carry over. Main menu is the only place where you can not be searching for a match. If you're in training mode, you can't disable match search.

You can try to limit it by setting connection quality to 5 only but if you're in a populated area like the States, then you'll probably still be getting matches.

Actually, this game's netcode is in such a garbage state that I'm fine with stopping for the rest of the weekend. I'll just go back to grinding Hearthstone.

I'm glad I held off on my preorder, because I wouldn't pay for this game right now.

It's not the netcode, it's you.
Nope, it's not. I have a pristine connection, and all I do is play fighting games, so I have a REALLY good frame of reference for this stuff. I'm wired on a 50Mbps connection in a central network hub in the United States.

It's not me.

Edit: I've also been in all 4 betas, and this is the worst one since the first.

Online seems fine for most people man, I'd check to see if it's something on your end.

EDIT: Just saw your response. That's really odd then, you'd think more people would be reporting bad matches. I wonder what could be up.

The netcode has been just fine for me personally, can't complain.

Dude, have you been reading through the thread? Lots of complaints.

I've been following the thread as much as anyone, and it seems like there are more people having good matches than their are people having bad matches. At the very least, the bad matches don't seem to be consistent for most.

The netcode still clearly needs some work, but at least on my end things were smooth 80-90% of the time.

I've been playing all weekend and out of maybe 200 or so matches I've only MAYBE gotten around 7-9 laggy matches, and I'm in Australia.
