Somebody call VH1: "The Fine Bros" are trying to trademark "reaction videos"

That's just a guy who is playing their video and talking over it. That's a totally separate issue. Their actual video is on the screen. As someone points out, it probably got immediately blocked because the Finebros' jingle is being played at the start or whatever.

Yet it's got hundreds of thousands of views now and is supposed to be evidence of what terrible money-grubbing jews these guys are. Go internet.

It's not a separate issue. He recorded his screen and reacted to one of their videos, then made a joke about wanting to kill himself after watching it. This is what fair use is all about. Plenty of channels use others' content and react to it. FineBros does the same thing with their React videos where they play someone else's work (and music and all other stuff) and then have teens/elders/kids/youtubers react to someone else's content as it's played out.

The follow-up to LeKevPlays' video being taken down went viral, not the original video.

Don't know why you brought up their religion.

Format is concept + branding. But the only way to really protect it is through copyright. So the way I see it they can't actually do anything about the Buzzfeed or Ellen examples in this thread, even though they may feel they're being copied. They can only really protect the names of their shows. Which is why they're trademarking the name of their channel, React. That doesn't mean you can't use the word react in the title of your video. I might be wrong though.

But that's just stupid. Why should they need or even have the right to do anything about the Ellen video? There is nothing unique about their format, nothing to set it apart and most definitely nothing that they invented.

If the creators of Breaking Bad felt like they are being copied because there is a new show about a highshool teacher who gets terminal lung caner and decides to make and sell meth I would understand it.

But this is the equivalent of the creators of Breaking Bad trying to force Netflix to stop the production of Narcos because "it copied our format of having a show with actors where drugs and drug lords play a big role in the plot"

Oh, I'm sorry. I'm bringing up their religion. Not the commenters on every single video about this issue.

And its not the same. In Finebros videos, they play a few isolated clips of the video and then spend most of the video talking about the video they're reacting to. They don't just play the whole video from start to finish.

Can't imagine how hard it must be for you to not make even more anti-semetic comments.

I literally have no idea what you're blathering about.

If we follow your logic that a video can't be reacted to from start to finish, then why isn't boogie2988's reaction video to FineBros React World announcement video being taken down by Fullscreen Inc?

I wish I were subscribed so I could unsubscribe lol. Been following this whole mess and I'm really glad people are spreading the word and speaking out about it.

I honestly think React World is a pretty sweat deal. Whoever ends up doing the Australian or the Italian version of these shows or whatever, you know it's going to be successful, because it will be promoted by the Finebros to their audience and carry their branding and be fully backed and supported by them. People will watch it.

No upfront costs, just a revenue share with you getting the lion's share. Honestly, it's almost a guaranteed success for a start up channel if done right.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I hope they don't start taking down random react videos, because then the criticism against them will be justified.

I wonder how long until they have react videos of the internet responding/criticising them attempting to copyright "reaction videos"? Queue Elders, Adults, Teens, and Kids React videos next week of it I think.

I'd like to announce my new channel "Observe and Discuss"

Children Observe and Discuss
Adolescents Observe and Discuss
Old People Observe and Discuss

also included in this are:

Depressed Father
Try not to grimace or chuckle
Are they aware?
Children/Adolescents/Seniors vs. machines and electronics
and more!

Coming soon...

Is it a revenue share of the react videos a channel makes or all of the videos a channel makes?

Both the original announcement and the update video blew a fuse in my bullshit detector. Goddammit Fine Bros, those things don't grow on trees.
