I genuinely considered warning Jaded way back when they first started this run through the series to just not expect anything from the female characters of the series but that wouldn't have been as fun, this way you've experienced the true ball dropping nature of such things.

Speaking of which is "The Last" actually worth watching at all? The Hinata fan in me thinks I should view it while all logic tells me to avoid like the plague.

He the anime director?
He's Bleach's mangaka.

I found it incredibly mediocre. Inheritors of the Will of Fire is still my favourite movie because it lets all of the Konoha 11 + Sai have their moment to shine. Yes, even Shino the poor lad. He should have been promoted to Jonin alongside Neji imo.

I don't think I've ever been this pissed off at an anime.

If you're a hinata/hyuuga fan then yeah. Its more of a love story but it has some good bits. Its a good stop gap for the next movie.

I'm still pressed by Hinata's total lack of presence and impact afterwards; correct me if I'm wrong, other than the small bit in the beginning of the war where nardo thanks her, it never comes up again?

tragique
You mean more like the end of the war, after Naruto and and everybody were fighting the Juubi?
As I said Hinata is to a certain degree to naruto as well. But she's alot better of a character than Sakura. Sakuras serves as a character to run to naruto for help or need his help in some way. Hinata is the type to give him some type of strength when he's about to falter.

I thought kage summit was pretty good. It left things at an incredibly tense point. Gave Naruto and Sasuke a real sense of growth imo. Its what happened afterwards that killed people.

Jaded is an advantage for not having to live through filler hell. And yes there is another huge sakura fail.

I also enjoyed the Kage Summit arc. I lost complete interest in the series when
Tobi was revealed to be Obito. It was the obvious conclusion looking back on it but I still hate how Kishi sullied his character. He was so innocent and sweet during the Kakashi Gaiden. He should have stayed dead. Hell I'd even take Madara finding his corpse and reanimating it with Zetsu to control it so it isn't actually him over the explanation we got for his descent into villain-hood.

The Hidden Leaf Village should be fucking ashamed of themselves. The only person in that god damn village with the fucking stones big enough to needlessly throw their life away to fucking help Naruto was weak ass fucking Hinata. If they all survive this arc they should take a very long hard look at themselves and say, "shit, we're weaker than Hinata" and then go fucking drown themselves. Sakura didn't fucking do god damn shit to help Naruto, she sat on a fucking rock and fucking watched Naruto get impaled repeatedly and then watched Hinata get impaled right in front of him. Hinata loves Naruto and fucking straight up admitted like a fucking champ and that's fucking Hinata the willow wisp of a fucking woman with no urge to fight. She got bodied repeatedly and put her all into helping Naruto. I have never been this mad at this fucking cast till now, you guys let Hinata get bodied trying to save your only fucking hope at survival and fucking sat there and did nothing. Fuck you survivors, Tatsuyu should hang her head in shame at the fact that she wasted all that fucking chakra rescuing your asses.

I understand she's a jobber but she did not need to job that hard. I swear this was my reaction:

Now who the fuck is going to fetch Tsunade's coffee.

Please. Hinata was the only one shown to have seen the situation Naruto was in. Katsuyu told others to stay out prior iirc. If Hinata used her head she should of relayed the info to the rest of the shinobis but I can understand what the point of the scene was. Although in retrospect Naruto going 8 tails would of killed a lot of them.

Naruto's a fucking blockhead, he's fucking Charlie Brown with chakra. Hinata's wasted on that blockhead.

Its not like thats the first time someone has risked their lives to save him: Iruka and Sasuke. I told you this before didn't I? Naruto has no romantic interest in Hinata (considering what The Last says, but tbh thats one of biggest reasons I dislike it) throughout Shippuuden.

I so wish Naruto and Hinata had a heart to heart after the arc was over, the former telling her that though she means alot to him, it's purely from a platonic standpoint. Then she'd be able to get over his basic ass and come into her own.

And eventually end up with Kiba, i.e. the most attractive member of the Konoha 11.

the five kage confab is one of the best sections of the story tbh

it stars the best team and lots of new characters and it's one of the few times where kishi's thematic development and storytelling are on point at the same time; the action sequences are fab and relentless and it features the kind of aggressively stylish, emotionally intense and fabulously outrageous shoujo fuckery that gives me all of the feelings

Sakura's impact

but even the last is glib and totally insincere because it's not really romance. it features romantic/domestic situations in the broadest sense, yes, but when it comes to emotional motivations, to detailing and analyzing the kinds of complex and dramatic drivers that cause characters to act one way or another, it comes up short in significant ways. Naruto and Toneri are pitiful romantic heroes/rivals; they're basically ciphers from beginning to end. Hinata's the only that holds up her end of the story

I think psycho mantis missed the post where I said logic be damned. I'm not arguing in any way to attempt to find reason and condone the shit I witnessed, fuck Konoha. Reading how Hinata gets fucking friendzoned after that shit later is god damn stupid as well. Any real life woman would've fucking dogged Naruto for being "well your just my friend" after getting her shit beat in like that. Hinata gave her life, willingly with a smile on her face and she's been curious about him since she was a child, you don't just step out on that kind of devotion. Naruto should bake that woman a fucking cake and then let her eat that shit off his body cause she loves him that god damn much. How the hell do people argue in defense of this? I'm still salty about seeing my woman Shizune getting fucking Tsang Tsunged. She don't do anything outside of getting orders barked at her and she's so nice, but hey they fucking kill her ass for dramatic tension. How much more tension do I need? Kakashi already got fucking dropped and everyone loved him, leave Shizune alone god damn it.

Naruto's side could of been written in a much easier and coherent way to the manga but SP decided to go for some dramatic plot which ends up being contrived and dissonant.

I think you're missing Naruto's perspective. He has hardly spent any time with Hinata, most of his genin days were with Team 7 and then went with Jiraiya before once again returning and hanging with Team 7, trying to bring back Sasuke and so on. Furthermore, he had a crush/attraction towards Sakura at the beginning. While Naruto no doubt holds Hinata dear, you can't expect him to suddenly be attracted and fall in love, especially considering with things he deems more important on his mind such as reuniting his team.

i'm still mad that they seriously tried to pass off the bit during the chunin exams where Hinata gives Naruto ointment as some kind of profound turning point in their lives

Hinata has received 2 epic ass beatings while shouting her love and appreciation for Naruto externally while Naruto was conscious enough to hear it. After that I'd drop Sakura's ass in a heartbeat to get to know more about Hinata after witnessing that shit. The failure of this being properly addressed is a failure on Naruto's part which is a failure on Kishi's part. Hinata uses Naruto's nindo as a source of strength and has said that in front of him, if she died they were going to be her dying words. You don't just push some shit like that aside. Naruto's transition to Hinata from Sakura would be a moment of personal growth, a sign that he's no longer acting like a kid because he's capable of of seeing a bond forming that would replace and eclipse whatever shallow ass bond that he has with Sakura. Naruto would have a much more successful relationship than he would with Sakura. I had to realize an exact same thing in real life and Naruto's failure to realize something similar is fucking stupid.

Naruto's biggest trait is his perseverance and that concept, like I have told you before, is shown in numerous characters and Naruto sees that. It doesn't really matter what you would do, stop self inserting. Naruto stopped acting like a kid a long time ago (even in Part 1). Funny thing is Naruto's bond with Sakura is deeper than anything he has with Hinata at the point you are at. Romantically shallow, though the same can be said in respect to Hinata but who said romance was the only bond you could share.

lol

if you're going to approach it like that, Hinata bears a lot of responsibility for her situation as well because she's a weak bitch who never takes the initiative; skulking from the shadows and near-deathbed confessionals every few years aren't going to cut it

even in the last, random genjutsu and Sakura do all of the hard work for her

mess

Lol its fucking shonen manga/anime. When someone uses the excuse that it would've been too dangerous for a character to do something then you know that the author just hates that character . Kishi is extremely generous with his plot armor. Sakura could've been written do to do the same thing Hinata did. But she didn't. Why? Because Kishi generally writes her as someone that needs Narutos help in her big plot moments . While Hinata is written to usually galvanize him when he needs help.

Naruto is a blockhead but its intentional. He was always supposed to end up with Hinata but Kishimoto claims he didn't know how to write it in his manga. Hence we have The Last.

Naruto doesnt love Sakura at this point. Well not romantically. In fact this will get proven to you very soon as she pisses him off and he has to save her. He's just dumb really. He isn't grown. In fact, Kishimoto himself states that when Naruto and Hinata kiss he finally feels like "his children" have grown up. If you dont mind being slightly spoiled he has talked about NaruHina and his plans/failings with them quite a bit since the story ended.

Also ghstwrld, quit fucking posting unmarked spoilers in this anime thread. Will not warn you again.

Its not just JW. Phaze has asked twice now that you stop posting spoilers. There's a difference between discussing the premise of a movie and directly spoiling different moments.

Tell the person I ignored that JW obviously already knows Naruto and Hinata hooks up. JW knows more than you think.
Yes I know more about certain shit than I'm supposed to, certain things like Sasuke's story I don't know a god damn thing about, but I already know Hinata and Naruto hook up. I also already know Sakura loses the great titay war to Hinata as well. God I can't wait to see Sakura when she finds that shit out. Just seeing the fact that Kishi owned up to not knowing how to write the Naruto Hinata ship makes me just wish that he co wrote those parts with someone instead of moving full steam ahead and shitting the bed the way that he's doing. To address my claims about Naruto being childish, I do know that he's grown up...a lot since part 1, but I feel that's he's only grown up in the regard of fighting and realizing just how important the time he spent with Jiraiya was, as well as other personal relationships. The scene with him teaching Konohamaru the Rasengan was a great moment to show this actually. He loved that pervy motherfucker and when he popped up in sage mode I could tell that was a moment used to show that he's trying to be more like Jiraiya now. I just think it's weird how he treats his original bonds. I'm not telling him to stop caring about Sakura, I just think it's time he puts some effort into bringing Hinata into his life some more, which is all I honestly want to see from the dude, the pacing for this ship is fucking god awful. Even Asuma made some time to get Kurenai some god damn flowers before he died, I haven't seen Naruto do shit for Hinata yet. The fact that after the Chunin exams he shrugged off her, "I never back down, cause that's my Nindo way" speech is still annoying. And hearing how her attempted sacrifice still doesn't resonate with him is still going to annoy me even though I already know about it. Sakura doesn't use her feelings for him as a source of strength the way that Hinata does and I really haven't seen her do anything to protect Naruto since she tried to fight off those Sound Ninjas in part one and even that was partly self preservation on her part. I always see the difference with how Hinata acts for him with her self determination is that she does it for him, not for any other reason, she's doing it to prove herself to Naruto, meanwhile with Naruto everything he used to do was to prove himself to other people like Neji or Kiba or Sasuke. I don't think Naruto's ever had that kind of relationship with somebody. Hinata wants to let Naruto know that she's good enough for him, she looks up to him, I don't think anybody on this show has looked up to him (minus Gaara now that I think about it) and it's not the same as the rivalry relationship that he has with Sasuke. I guess I'm just waiting for Naruto to realize that he and Hinata are a lot alike, but that's not the way the show is written.

I can't wait to see this Hinata:

Lmao Kishi's females their POWA.

Anyways, what episode are you up to JW?
My last episode was when Naruto was about to break the seal on the 9 tails but his ghost dad stopped him. I actually really like that fight scene though. I almost died at Pain's feet spinning like 90's Sonic the Hedgehog.
