Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

? for PS4 players:

Did any of the betas allow you to map commands to L3/R3?

Probably should have asked this before the server went offline. >_>

Huh Maybe this was why my 360 stick was freaking out. I modded my stick from 8 to only 6 buttons and I re-wired the buttons inside so that LB would be my HK but the Beta would have none of it. Stick got all wonky and unplayable. I had to open my stick up and disconnect LB and put RT in its place (LT was already connected as my FP)

I played terribly this match, but I still beat lowtiergod lol

Respect that tea bag. He's a pretty terrible Nash. He had full super and could have easily punished your jump ins with it. That was a decent Birdie. Only suggestions I would make is to use the coke can more in that match and also keep in mind that Birdie's EX Chain has armor against projectiles and is a very fast move.

name is lowtiergod, picks Nash

ok

He plays rolento and rose in sfiv as well... Characters that get top 8 at evo. So low tier.

On another topic I used my stick with a ps360+ board for most of the beta and the 8 minute timeout is a non issue for me. The button combo to reset is quick and as long as you do it while waiting for your next match to load its golden. I'll have to see what TOs think about reseting it between matches for offline play though.

Heh, I have to join the chorus of people who are saying they wish the Brazil Stage was Laura's actual theme. That stage's theme is so goddamn good, especially round 2.

One of my fave moments was when I did a delayed V-Trigger with Mika (so Nadeshiko comes in later) and dashed in for a regular throw.

He got caught and Mika did her regular throw where she does the running throw (the stunner wresting grab?) and the moment she hit the ground with the opponent, Nadeshiko drops from above and splats the opponent with Mika at the same time for a 2 hit combo (basically Mika's regular throw turned into a combo thanks to Nadeshiko).

That final hit from Nadeshko was just enough to KO, what I wouldn't have given to see the opponent's face when this happened lol.

That can happen?!

I need to try Mika more

I had a really great time with this Beta, cannot wait to put some more time in once the game comes out. I really like the balance of opponents I had. People that were around my skill level, never really felt like a match was truly one sided, save an incredible Nash that ate my Necalli for lunch. I also, as expected, felt comfortable with the short combos and focus on fundamentals.

The only real complaint I had was that I couldn't put any significant time into training mode without getting a match, but I suppose testing the online was a huge part of the beta, so I get it. This is going to be a long wait until release.

I cannot wait to just sit in the Lab for hours on end with my favorite characters, not getting interrupted.

have we gotten any word on whether the final version of the game will use the driver that lets you use PS3 sticks on it? I doubt, but I want to make sure, since I'm thinking I'll have to buy a PS4 hitbox for it.

They've been really mum on that issue, nothing confirmed yet. At this point I'll just get a PS4 stick because of Revelator and whatever.

Either it's a last minute thing or they straight up don't support it. They would've mentioned it otherwise by now.

If anyone played both versions, can you comment on disparity in input lag, etc? Last thing I want to see is what happened last gen with SF4 and MvC3.

How come Vega still loses his claw? It's so dumb. Why am I punished for blocking correctly?

Also, his claw attacks need to either be special cancelable or have their range increased. One or the other.

I am bad at this game. I played the beta around 4-5 hours and barely got 1000 LP using Bison.

I think Bison might not be for me, which is really sad because he's probably the most visually appealing character, and I played him in SF4. His walk speed and lack of an invincible reversal really screw with me a lot. Yes I need to get good and learn to defend properly instead of a reversal, but it's very hard. I could do practically nothing against good Rashid, Laura or Mika players, and I'm a complete idiot when it comes to blocking meaties, I always try to tech and get blown up. Anyone else playing Bison having trouble defensively?

Thinking about what other characters I want to try on launch; might try Necali since he has an uppercut and a command grab, and has SS3 hair.

Claw attacks are special cancelable, e.g. s.lp > light ASE or EX BD.

Why did they nerf Karin AA.

I watched the KI Season 3 changes and wonder if SFV gets the same treatment. In three years we could look at back and laugh how crazy stupid Chun Li's normals are.

Can't really say they're dumb if we don't know what the opponent is throwing out against it in that video.

Remember that the priority system in this game causes heavies to beat out clashing mediums/lights outright instead of trading with them. So, Dhalsim might just be willingly sticking his limbs into a blender in that video.

This mechanic is actually what got me the most mileage against Dhalsim in general. I would just throw out Mika's shoulder tackle (c.HP) from a half-screen away and more often than not just slap Sim's limbs out of the way and close some of the distance in the process.

Sort of off topic, but anyone know the cheapest place to preorder street fighter 5 on PC?

Edit: Just saw CDKeys, can anyone vouch for the authenticity?
