Glad he's thinking of his health. He's undoubtedly got a ton of money and a beautiful wife to share the rest of his life with!

I was not a fan though. I don't like his character at all, that whole yes movement thing and him at the top of the card headlining mania and everything during that run that year was almost enough to make me stop watching wrestling altogether. He is an amazing wrestler but had a terrible look, was awful on the mic, and was a charisma-vacuum.

Well, I guess Im done then as well. I stopped watching after the invasion, then started watching again once Bryan got big a couple of years ago.

Lesnar and part timers can only carry the company so much.

Oh well.

good, nerve / tissue damage from neck injuries are absolutely brutal.

One thing I take away from this- is why the hell is any one in the modern era doing the flying headbutt? The move look awful, is dangerous to the performer's health, and does absolutely nothing except brute force smash your face into gravity. That move needs to be banned, alongside the never ending list of suicide dives that also look equally stupid.

Neck injuries aren't jokes. :/

Did he not say like 3 weeks ago he was cleared by his doctor and the WWE wouldn't clear him? Stinks of work to me.... I hope

This is totally a work.

If it isn't then it's good he's putting his health over his career, which wasn't going anywhere with WWE management.

Sad to hear about Bryan retiring. Maybe/Hopefully WWE can use him well like a trainer or commentary.

If this isnt a work I doubt he staying with the company, he wants to wrestle and has been going around to world class docter to clear him, someone who who goes through all that isn't going to just stop.

thats the thing 3 doctors cleared him...so whatever he knows now has to be massively serious or they are fucking with us, lol.

sad. he should take a few years off. in a few years if he feels great then maybe he could come back on a lighter schedule like Shawn Michaels did. if he can't, then he can't. he'll at least have his health, Brie, and lots of money and guest appearances for years

Yeah, let's hope it a work....a work he has been building hard for the last few years with his serious injuries...

We've all seen this coming.

Please be a work.

Bryan is probably pretty well off by now.

That and you can be sure he has a job in WWE as long as he wants it.

If you think this is a work, you're implying the WWE creatives bothered writing something for him.

he's not coming back in a 3 on 3 tag match on Smackdown, so he's gone

I'm calling it now. This is a work. Situation feels way too weird.

The man has been sidlined for nearly 2 years and has suffered multiple concussions and wrestled on the indie scene with probably little to no doctor or medical attention. He wrestled SIXTY PLUS minute matches night in night out when was with ROH performing the Flying Headbutt, taking the worst suplexes on his neck, and ramming his face into other people with the suicide dive.

He's doing a disservice to his wife, himself, and his fans by putting himself at risk in the ring.

Get ready for that ratings dip
Glad his fans will no longer be stuck watching RAW in hopes of a return that will never happen.
They can get invested in a more worthwhile hobby now... like composting. Or macrame. Or Daniel Bryan's venture as a restaurateur on Total Divas.

Bryan will come out, announce his retirement.

Deafening yes chants, standing ovation from crowd and commentators, and a shitload of confetti.

Roman Reigns comes out from the front—no music—and just comes to hype up Daniel in the ring. Raises his arm and Bryan counters and sticks him in the yes lock.

"You can't be the champ because I never lost it!"

Crowd goes into meltdown.

Book it, Vince. I dare you.

I firmly believe that he will wrestle again. Either this is a work, or he's just going to ride out his contract and then go somewhere else. The whole situation has just been strange, especially with the recent (?) rumor that he tried to quit and WWE wouldn't let him. Something just feels shady about this whole thing.

Absolutely. But he's made it very clear he doesn't think like that, so I don't know why you'd expect him to all of a sudden.

At least composting does something worthwhile with shit. WWE instead airs it every Monday night.

I'm willing to believe it's a work since everything know of the guy says he wants to wrestle, the only way he'd retire if it really meant knocking at deaths door.

Here's the actual plan :

Bryan will come out, announce his retirement.

Deafening yes chants, standing ovation from crowd and commentators, and a shitload of confetti.

Roman Reigns comes out from the front—no music—and just comes to hype up Daniel in the ring. Bryan lifts Reigns arm and leaves forever
