Honestly that whole match was incredible. Shane can actually work a match very well out there. He got plexed back OUT more glass too. Okay they tried but he again bounced off the glass inside and got thrown back out. Thats 3 wall plexes then rammed through the stuff. Fun fact, it was supposed to be sugar glass but the wrong glass was ordered. It was PLEXI-glass. There wasn't even supposed to be pyro that night because they were worried it'd break the glass. Shane kept telling Kurt to do the plex too. It was his match and whatever Shane said, Kurt would do. It was pretty nuts.
Check this interview on it. It was pretty interesting to hear this and later Kurt revisited it in other interviews. Story never changes. It was just rough.

Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels both had retirements in the main event and they were both great.
The Flair one is one of the best moments in the history of raw.

Holy crap... Shane was a frigging madman. I remember watching this match the first time and I couldn't comprehend how insane it was. Great seeing that post-mortem interview.

Might have been rigged, but that's still falling a story or so onto a plywood(?) stage. I dunno if you've ever fell a story, but it certainly takes the wind out of your sails.
He never wanted to retire. They had him retire because mania was weak that year.
Plus they didn't use him for a long time because he was over and they didn't want him to overshadow a young guy or HHH

Plenty were. Me included. I legitimately thought it could be right up until Coachman chimed in on Twitter.
If it was a work they wouldn't have announced it as a retirement in advance like that. Even Mark Henry's retirement swerve, they didn't actually say it was a retirement, they just said he had a significant announcement and it was implied to be one, only in his actual promo did he say he was retiring, before the swerve.
And they certainly wouldn't have announced it on ESPN.

WWE butchered the speech on YouTube. Cutting a 20+ minute speech into 6 minutes will do that.

The WWE has always cut down segments for Youtube. It's not some conspiracy re: Daniel Bryan. Man, worst fanbase ever.

I'm proud of being a smarky smark but this is being misleading. they never really upload full segments of anything on youtube.
and i never really tuned in during cm punk/daniel bryan era that much but it's apparent he really ushered in the awesome talent that they've been acquiring/developing lately.
it was a great speech. don't even know much of him and i'll miss the dude.
edit: never mind misread your post, you are right that they really butchered the edit cutting it down that short. should have at least uploaded 10 minutes. deathyboy with that mark post pulled me right in smh.

They did the same thing they always do on Youtube, show the highlights. It's weird that someone with knowledge of WWE's Youtube thought they'd make an exception for Bryan, when they rarely make exceptions - given they want people to watch Raw recaps. They might even have to do it this way as part of the USA contract.
