"The influx in voters was timed with rush hour traffic."
No shit! People work and can get caught up at said work so why the fuck are you closing polls so early.

Much of this varied exit poll data looks to favor Trump.

And what the hell? 9,000 voters expected at this one modest station on CNN? That's just lazy campaign organization by the state.

Also, someone tell these drivers stuck in traffic that you're not supposed to stop in the middle of intersections. Dicks.

If that was the Merrimack one then yes big screw up. There used to be 3 voting places and now its only one (At least a coworker from Merrimack made mention of it)

That big ass traffic backup has been like that since early this morning. Its never let up all day.

EDIT: So proud of my fellow NH Gaffers that went out to vote! :D

15 points?? Damn.

Didn't think Trump would win by that much.

fwiw: in 2008, exits had Obama winning by 8 and Clinton eventually won by 2

(the errors on the GOP side's were more muted in comparison in the last two cycles - I think ~2% in McCain's favor and ~4% in the field's favor in 2012)

Kasich is going to somehow ride this to the nomination and make GAF shit their pants in fear of the General.
Hold me poligaf, are we freaking out over John fucking Kasich?
That's diablos final form.

Edit: yeah, community thread inside joke, sorry those who don't regular it, don't mean to be insular. Though take my word for it - this is moderately funny!

I just don't understand why in 2016, they don't just make voting online and electronic through an app of some sort. No lines, no traffic, simple! LOL! It's 2016 and we are still counting paper ballots. WTF!

Imagine if they did that and you could see results roll in over the course of the day in real time like you can with other wacky online polls. That would be a weird experience, haha.

Democrats would win every time if that was the case.

Ok then, let's do a hybrid: those who want to vote at a precinct, you can go and vote. If you would rather vote online, you can do that too. Seriously, how hard is it to setup such a system (especially if it is funded by the federal government)?

We have absentee voting, just change the absentee voting to an online one. Is there one particular reason why the federal govt is so opposed to embracing technology for voting purposes? To me it seems like there are more pros than cons...

Rubi0bot will activate self-destruct mode and put a crater where new hampshire used to be.
No one wins

Then Obama gets a third term by default for some reason. We all win that way.

Edit: Online voting will come eventually, but there's still a big fear that it will lead to lots of voter fraud (or at least that's how people who would stand to lose from this change will spin it).

Really really hard. To have a verifiable but anonymous paper trail. Remember you can't be asked to show id to vote but you'd need to make sure the person voting online is the actual registered voters.

I wouldn't shit my pants over Kasich, it would be more like the disappointment you feel when you left something in the fridge for later, go to heat it up, and discover someone else ate it.

So looks like it'll be a runaway victory for Trump. Bernie will win (though still remains to be seen by how much, anywhere from 10-20 is salvageable for the Clinton campaign) and Rubio could get 4th or 5th.

lol

Also don't fear Kasich, he has no operation outside of NH. It's like when Santorum won Iowa -- he couldn't deliver on his momentum.

Kasich's too reasonable to get the nomination. He said deporting Mexicans isn't a good idea or even feasible in any way whatsoever. Republican voters don't want to hear that. He also went to a same sex wedding and mentioned that in the first debate, which makes the crazies livid.

Can't believe Rubio fucked up so badly though. The nomination was his and he threw it away. I have friends that are still convinced he's a good speaker but the time for that is slowly fading. Could still be a VP pick for Kasich or Trump

...but what if Jeb somehow ends up with the nomination?

First, there are legitimately security concerns there.
Like, I think they're solvable, but man, you got to do it right and you got to have proper paper trail to everything.

Also, the GOP don't want to make voting easier since they believe it helps the Democrats (they're right).

But dammit, can we at least make election day a day off?
The Democrats should really push for it, vacation day is going to be popular.

It wouldn't be hard at all, but like I said: If you even give people the option to vote online, democrats would very likely win every time. You'd have the biggest 'voter turnout' for youth in history and republicans would get shit on. It'd be a superior system but it wouldn't be in the interest of half of the United States' Government.

These shots of the cars online is insane, just amazing. They are now putting police cars out to mark the end of the lines, and no one will be allowed to vote if they show up once that happens - only those already in front of the police.

I don't think there's much to be worried about with Kasich. His trickle-down economics are easy to attack.

And the worry is that his standard-issue terrible conservatism only seems tolerable against the craziness of his current peers. But he's still awful.

Maybe he has hid his crazy better but kaisch does seem like the most reasonable candidate

Both parts of this statement are factually correct.

He's probably trying to embody the "compassionate conservatism" that pre-9/11 George W. Bush ran on. He'll fight against some overreaches by the hard-right in the state legislature, but he's kind of looking the other way as they're trying to shut down every abortion provider in the state, for example.

But compared to everyone else in the field, he is certainly less hard-right, anti-non-American in his beliefs.

Well which candidate has much of an operation in March 1st states? Is he unique in that regard in a field full of mediocre to poor ground games? Minnesota, Vermont, Mass, Colorado, Virginia....Kasich has states he can compete in on Super Tuesday.

the people on MSNBC/CNN that are covering the election sincerely seem like they are getting into this election. You can tell they think it's fun/exciting. It's cool to see.

It's beautiful to see. I was really worried at how dead it was this morning...

If Sanders wins by 20%+ there really will be carnage inside the Clinton campaign.

Even then, it won't matter THAT much unless he gains momentum for Super Tuesday. NH and Iowa are extremely white states, so he's expected to do well. Unless things have changed dramatically, she dominates him when it comes to minority voters, which are very important to the Democratic vote, especially among the southern states that make up the majority of Super Tuesday.
