Nintendo Badge Arcade |OT| Gotta Grab 'em All

Oh, wow, didn't realize it was the 30th anniversary of Kid Icarus. A badge is probably the extent to which they'll celebrate.

Anway, I just saw this on YouTube, and it makes me want to never give another cent to the game (even though I probably will anyway):

Fuck those bomb machines.

The first one looks like Super Mario Advance: SMB2. and the second one is Rhythm Tengoku

For the GBA badges, aim for the left-most GBA cart. If you grab it correctly, it will push all the other cart badges into the hole, along with the GBA SP. You can get all those in one turn and use the rest for the GBA and GBA Micro.

And good God who wants a Wii Sensor Bar badge? NO ONE.

If it was just the bar without the wire and it was resting on the bottom of the squard, it could sit nicely on top of another badge or app/game

I do!

Oh hell yes, I'll nab those MM badges if we get them in the US. Wonder if they'll do boss portraits for all 6 games or just a few of them.

Anyone get a picture for the Badge-Lor?

Think this might further prove that she is a girl unless Badge-Lor can counter prove (Baito putting on stache for Badge-Lor doesn't count)

This week, in Japan.

Baito doesn't conform to your gender restrictions

Bit weird that there were no Pokémon badges considering it's Pokémon Campaign Month.

Maybe a big (well 8 to 10 panel) blowout next week. Japan does their promotions a week early to make sure you can get badges in time. For example, Valentine's badges came last week. Pokémon's Christmas badges came at the start of December

I started doing this finally a couple days ago. I got a good collection going but i've already wasted a couple turns trying to get those damn hanging chocolate mario badges. Anyone have any hints how to get those? The only thing I haven't tried yet is trying to time the claw to open next to the badge and when the claw opens maybe nudge it off the hook?

That panel can be cleared in two turns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ-HB2RbwmQ

Sigh, I really wish they would give a discount for buying multiple plays. Most of the Valentine's panels are pure evil.

I have to admit, this had me laughing harder than I should have today:

This one was terrible. For one reason or another Mario just wouldn't fall, he was stuck and I wasted my last three grabs. It was terrible, he kept slipping back on the hook :\

Same, but I don't really care since I manged to get five free plays today from the practise game allowing me to get the last two Nikki launchers!

I really want the those, but I find the scale to be really weird, I can get the left two, but the rest just doesn't go over the edge :\

I'm thinking Baito is a dude (so many references like having a crush on Isabelle), he just likes to look effeminate like Bugs Bunny.

Are the GBA badges currently only in Japan or Europe? Not seeing them here in the U.S. badge center.

Is anyone else having trouble with the Zelda hearts machine? The small hearts just refuse to budge - I went in with three plays trying to get the heart container and failed because a direct hit from the crane didn't knock the corner heart that was stopping everything from sliding down out of the air.

I find it funny that Nintendo removed the roulette machine in Pokemon because it was a form of gambling and this app shows up and this is the worst type of gambling.

In the end I would rather simply upfront pay for these badges and collection to decorate my home screen. Fuck all this time limited shit and playing on our behavior of obtaining it all and completing it all. How can one complete a set if they are time sensative. I was interested in this but now it seems like it matured into some monstrocity. Heck I wouldn't mind a bulk payment offer than playing for chance with real money. Nintendo is gonna screw an entire generation of kids this way. The money is invisable.

Nintendo/Game Freak didn't remove it because it was gambling (they were well aware). They removed it because certain ratings boards such as PEGI and I think even ESRB give the games an auto 12+ rating if gambling is involved and that cuts off a large portion of the audience. Having a 12+ rating on the boxes for the games would be catastrophic to the game sales.

This is why the Virtual Console releases are actually rated as 12+ in Europe.

USK says hi. Gambling would net the game an instant 18-rating in good ol' Germany.

I am always skeptical with F2P games, but I feel Badge Arcade does it right. You basically get at least one free play every day, so you have a chance to get something. As for the boards being time sensitive, these things ALWAYS come back. The only tricky ones are probably the seasonal badges, but the others pop up constantly. Japan still has those damn Monster Hunter badges and even Hello Kitty showed up again. You can certainly complete a set over time if you focus on it. And if you really want to, you can just drop the two bucks for five plays. Pretty much every board is specifically designed to where you can get every badge with five tries. Though I don't think the "catch 'em all" mentality is something people should be going into this game with. There are hundreds of badges and there are new ones weekly, you really have to just focus on the ones you truly want.

Yeesh, that's even worse.

It's odd though as USK have given the originals a 0

Wouldn't be the firs time they went back and changed the ROMs (e-Reader levels, WFC exclusive unlocks unlocked, localization fixes, license-based textures replaced). Maybe they brought them in line with the recent releases so you randomly get rewards in varying amounts without any actual gambling gameplay.

The ESRB did give at least some of those casino GBA games E ratings but the simulated gambling content descriptor was probably not desirable regardless.

Then why would PEGI rate it 12?

*shrug*

Never played any of them so no idea about any specifics or how they might have been changed or not. Just know what I've read about those recent games and their changes here.

They have never changed Virtual Console games like that. You're comparing localisation changes to games that came out 2 decades ago

Hm?? Are you forgetting the SMB3 Advance e-Reader levels that got added, the unlocked Wi-Fi Connection-only content in Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and I think those Mega Man Battle Network games, the Kawasaki-license replacements in Wave Race 64? Those were not localization changes and they only happened for the VC releases. The only localization change I mentioned was for Link's Awakening DX where they replaced certain YAHOO! message with a generic HELLO! / YIPEE! and a specific update in Secret of Mana's German localization when it hit Wii VC.

While most of these only entail flipping unlock switches, it still means they go back in and adapt stuff when necessary so it's entirely possible that they rigged the slot machine to work a bit differently to pass without triggering the gambling flag.

edit: I hope I didn't misunderstand completely and you were talking about only about the recent Pokémon games :D
