It's funny that you think Steam is interested in that.
But I don't?

Quite ominous now isn't it.That Feb 25th event is getting more and more interesting.
There just HAS to be employees and marketers in disguise in here with some of the shit I am reading. Motherfucking wow, hahaha.
Get ready to grab your popcorn -- I'm looking forward to Digital Foundry's analysis of the PC version. If it's poorly optimized, and/or has tons of other problems ... man oh man.EDIT: A better closure to this amazing drama unfolding would be this unproven game to rate in the solid 7's as a consensus.

How can we believe this ? UWA.
Could this extend to indie games as well? A game like Cuphead only released on Windows?
They dont exist because MS stopped providing downloads. As for Steam, its not going anywhere for now. And it still allows you to download games not sold on the store anymore. Which isnt granted for W10 store.
Who knows what will happen though? There's alot of fear around what might happen. Just enjoy the game. If you can't play it 5 years from now oh well. That's digital distribution for you.

Your arguments are turning into a pile of nonsense right now. Did Microsoft closed shop ? No, they just announced a new service and you're telling me about changing names. Come on, you cant be serious.
I guess lots of players doesnt feel entitled to get guaranteed they wont lost their games.
And to be fair, considering how low the W10 Store sales will be, I dont think there's much of a main target audience.

Its the case, de facto.
You can still do so even for games removed from the service.
So then Valve could become a conglomerit with this experimental food service they've invested in. The games could get cut off in replace of something else without them changing their company name. Nintendo wasn't always video games. MTV wasn't always reality TV.
You're right, that's actually worse than GFWL, since at least GFWL didnt turned your games into smartphone apps.
You said it isnt good if PC became a Valve console, Microsoft wants to turn it into a Microsoft tablet.
The beauty of PC isnt fragmentation all over the place and unreliable services.
GFWL wasnt one case. It was THE case. Its the exact SAME publisher saying "we screwed up, but we're back" while at the same time, cutting the possibility to redownload your games.
When Steam is the only way to redownload your GFWL Microsoft games, it pretty much tells how Microsoft fucked up.
If you bought Fable 3 on Steam, you can still download it and play it despite being a GFWL game. If you bought it on the GFWL store... You cant anymore.
Windows will never be a closed system? That is exactly what Windows 8 was going to be before release. It is the entire reason Valve started making SteamOS.
You keep on digging, aren't you ? I'm telling you about how Valve keeps providing downloads to games removed from their service while Microsoft shut one of their service to reopen one and killed all your downloads. And your answer is Valve changing domain name or turning into a food company ?
You can buy a game on Steam because the service still exists. If something happens in the future and Valve feels obliged to close it, kiss your huge library goodbye.
And MS is not trying to turn a PC with Windows 10 into a Microsoft tablet. They're not trying to shut the doors of their main and popular operational system against different companies; they know they have to keep it open so their users can download Steam, Origin and whatever they want.
What they're trying to do is simply putting their resources in their system. They will fully invest in Windows 10 and their digital store, other than just waste the opportunity and invest on their concurrent. At least some games they will want to keep exclusively to them, at least temporarily, so they can encourage more consumers to use their store, and I can't see anything wrong about that.
Windows store sells you a closed sand-boxed application. It's because of Durante and other modders "fixes" that some of the games on steam are even as popular as they are now.Gemüsepizza;195191774 said:What? I am talking about Microsoft games on the Windows Store. Because that is what this is about. Microsoft wants to sell their games on the Windows Store.
Are people actually thinking they're going to lose their Windows store purchases in the future? It's the Windows store! This is not GFWL 2.0. Who kills the primary store on their OS? If that happens there are bigger problems than the store. Microsoft will be in the toilet altogether.
How is Valve going to keep those servers forever for us to redownload if oneday they go down a different path?
Out of pure curiosity , the people that want it released on Steam , do any of you run SteamOS as your primary OS for PC?
I mean if you really really wanted to stick it to Microsoft . Don't use windows.
Before windows 8 was released developers were originally only allowed to release Windows 8 applications via the windows store and in the Metro App format. The only application that had access to the traditional desktop of Windows 8 was Office and Internet Explorer. This ONLY got changed because valve came out and spoke against it and it gained a lot of bad press from other people as well. It was the EXACT intention to close the doors to everything except the windows store.

The store isn't going anywhere. They sell movies, music, apps and the store is going to be combined with the Xbox store. It's never leaving unless they're in the bloody tank. Quote me. GFWL was unfortunate, but niche as shit. MSN Messenger got replaced by Skype. It happens. Google makes two of everything and kills stuff people love.Who kills the primary store on their OS ? The same company who killed their primary instant messagery system on their OS. Their primary game store on their OS.
What if MS thinks in 3 years that UWA was a mistake and put that away from Windows ? Heck, what if they remove a game from their store, can we still download it ?
Well my Steam purchases have been kept safe for 11 years. That's quite a record compared to GFWL.How is Valve going to keep those servers forever for us to redownload if oneday they go down a different path?

I remember Zune wasn't going anywhere either. they sold movies and music on there as well.

Wait. Valve will start selling dog food?
PCs are about choice. Choice of OS, choice of which programs you want to use or not use.
They should sell it on W10 store. And Steam, and Origin, and GOG, etc.
Let us choose where we want to buy it. The 30% cut? Who cares! That is the cost of doing business and giving your customers real choice.
I can buy Levis at a Levis store, or at a bunch of other stores. So what? Let the consumer find the best deal and decide where they want to buy it.
Forcing 1 store for digital purchases on PC is not what most PC gamers want.
Did Microsoft go down a different path ? They still make OS. Games. They still use the LIVE service. Yet, they killed the servers.
If you want to keep making narratives in which Valve sell food, sextoys or twinkies, that's your call.
Windows 8 sucked, then they relaunched it as 8.1 and now 10. Lot's of people love 10, myself included. GFWL tried to make you pay for online and was a dreadful POS to use. I'm not saying MS are a bunch of saints, but I can't be the only one not throwing them under the bus immediately after this announcement. Their new leadership is far better than it was in the Ballmer days.Read my whole post. Its not only about killing the store. Just a change in policy or a game removed.
GFWL was unfortunate ? How is that ? They're just relaunching it.![]()
GFWL was unfortunate, but niche as shit.
Complain when its not on PC, complain when its released on PC...
The way PC games are right now on windows 10 isn't set in stone. Its very likely that, like the xbox one UI and its features, that it will improve and evolve over time. If there's one thing MS has been doing right recently, its listening to feedback and its customers. Win10 is still fairly new. I wouldnt be so quick to throw in the towel just cause of GFWL that was done under a different administration.
Though it should be about selling games, not stores. I won't ever buy a game on W10 store unless its some kind of cross buy promotion or super low price.
They should just put the game on all PC stores. Let gamers choose where they want to buy their games.
Seems like their way is still lost with PC gaming with pushing W10 store on us. No thanks.
