Mash out a reversal?

v reversal

Yeah Karin can be a monster in the right hands. Block and find an opportunity to get out of the corner of reset the situation. Getting your opponent to the corner and defenseless is all in the mind games and offensive part of the game.

just keep your cool. make them work to open you up instead of giving it away. sit and block a bit and they'll probably do something sloppy (like jump at you and corner themselves or do something unsafe).

Yeah, but to Reversal I must block something, right? I was getting teabagged. :(

Ok guys thanks for the help. I guess the best course of action will be play as Karin for a while.

.Man, Karin gives me hell in the corner.

What do you guys do to not panic? I don't mind losing, but being bodied in a corner is so depressing.

I have kind of the opposite problem. I can't for the life of me close in on most characters as Karin. Most of my gimmicks may work for 1 round and that's it. If I try to play a defensive game I will eventually lose out.

I have no idea how to safely close the gap as Karin, aside from players that just let me walk up to them...

I have a serious question.

I just watched the latest trailer for KOF 14. The game features 50 characters at launch and I'm certain all the standard modes will be present, I can't imagine it having less than 13. SNK has been broke-broke for a long time. Does the Chinese company that bought them really have more money to put into the game han Capcom + Sony? Obviously KOF 14 doesn't look all that hot visually. But per the latest trailer it's looking a lot better. Character animation is looking pretty solid, at least. SFV has some great models but it's not like the rest of the game looks great. The backgrounds are pretty poor and the UI leaves much to be desired.

I guess my question is, how could Chinese SNK be shaping up to offer more content with that good ol' KOF gameplay than Capcom + Sony when SF is the more popular franchise world-over?

Man, @)#& that astronaut dude who flies by right behind the characters now and then in the HQ stage. You think i'd have learned to tune him out after the first 2 or 3 times, but it still throws me off for a half-second every time it happens.

Seems like those LP capcom cup spots are just gonna be a race for who plays the most, because the points are certainly inflating quick instead of staying at a decent level.

This is how footsies start. You see if you can walk up to them. :P

When you're pretty sure they rage quit since it was round 2 and you hit them with a good combo almost winning... or it may have been Capcom servers.

I really really wished the goddamn lobbies worked. I'm tired of beating the shit out of everyone only to come across one person that knows what they're doing and they punish me for shit that I wasn't sure was safe or not. I just wanna get some good sets going where I can learn what's ok and what's not

Yeah... I'm removing PS4 from my match making searches. Either the cross-play net code is buggy, or they're all playing on shitty wireless connections.

we don't know a lot about KOFXIV. It could be missing features. Its online could be ass (server issues aside the netcode here is pretty good most of the time). I don't hate the Graphics as much as others but that is also lesser. We also don't know how many of those characters will share rigs or moves..making the whole 50 characters things less of a big deal. We also don't know how long SNK has been working on the game.

There is a lot that goes into it. Also Capcom isn't as healthy as people think.

I'll have to practice just walking forward then. I get way too antsy and jump or dash in ><

If you're playing against a patient player who knows how to block your shenanigans and doesn't let you jump in, you have to play footsies.

Walk forward and make it look like you're going to walk at them, see if they push a button. If they push a button that means you could have backed up a little and then whiff punished them, although that's way harder online.

If they don't push a button, you're free to walk up and do whatever you want.

That's the gist of how the game starts to evolve once you have two players who respect eachothers defense.

edit: You really have to fight that fear of "what if they push a button" because they're human just like you, they can't always push the button at the right time

I grabbed the collector's edition guide at Best Buy and canceled my Amazon order since it still was listed as shipping sometime next week.

The guide is super nice, lots of useful info with frame data, lots of combos for each character etc. The 8x10 Ryu & Ken matted are is nicer than I expected as well. Already stuck it in a frame and put it on the wall in the mancave. :D

Looking forward to playing more starting in a bit!

Nah once I beat Nash the rest were easy, I think it's was Laura necalli Bipson next.

Nash crossed me up during my own Nash's v trigger 😂

Thanks. I think my biggest problem is I spent very little time in Beta and I really have no idea what a lot of the characters can actually do, and the others I have some basic knowledge. Even going through the story mode and messing around with every character for a short amount of time I am still surprised at some moves people can do.

Just gotta keep playing and get used to everyone's moves.

How can you tell if you're playing someone on PC or PS4?

There is a little circle that says PS4 or PC. Look at their fighter information when loading into a fight.
