LOL is this a regular thing? I was just going to come into here to post the same thing. fucked everyone up with ease until 27 when I just got BODIED by the CPU gief that seemed to read every fucking move I did.

god damn it this shit takes forever.
 
Total Fighting game scrub here. Always been more of a single-player gamer so Fighting games weren't high on my radar.

I've been watching SF V streams and it looks gorgeous and it makes me want to join in on the fun. Any chance this game is super newb friendly?

I think my basic tactic would be block constantly and go for counter hits.
 
I think it's time I admit not only am I old, and I can't react as fast as I used to, but I probably need to start playing the big slow motherfuckers. Who I've traditionally hated for being big and slow. And ugly.

I didn't really spend 60 bucks on this thing to play fuckin BIRDIE.

I'm like the SF equivalent of the old bald dude with the headband and the knee-socks holding the small of his back and waving someone else in while he reaches for the brownbag.
 
I don't know what it is .. but this game is not polished.

Being a longtime SF4 player who goes to Evo etc.. It's kinda disappointing. The matchmaking is atrocious. It swings so bad and I barely have any good matches. I just started playing in ranked with 200 LP and it's pairing me against people with 1600 LP and higher..

Likewise, the lag and rollbacks is so frequent. Happens every match and I've turned search to 4-5 which also has gotten me even more lopsided matches. This is on top of not being able to see other replays half the time. Trying to search my friends tag and I'm looking at his replay and it's just stuck on 'Connecting...'

The wait time between matches and the load times to get into matches are long as well. Sometimes that globe is just spinning with no characters on the versus screen for 30 seconds before it finally appears. And half the time the ranks/LP don't populate in the VS screen and it leaves '--' in lieu of the actual ranks.

I played some SFIV. But I can guarantee that SFIV had more players around my league - i.e. new players to the franchise.

I'm losing 90% of SFV matches and the player pool seems way smaller and more hardcore. No one seems new, everyone knows most tricks.

My two mains =) be patient with bison if she jumps a lot jumping mp mp will stop anything she has (seriously) crouching fp will also drop her. Her air options are pretty weak psycho inferno beats her ass drop and her jump in fp. If shes playing patient and waiting on you or charging the spark shock you can teleport through it easily and either just block if shes waiting for you or toss out a cr mp if she does something dumb. You can also get a bunch of crush counters on her porting through her spark shes most likely going to try to hit you when you advance with cr mk or cr hk. Jab beats out her command grab and cr lk beats her dash unless she uses the ex version which has armor. Hmm what else?

Also its pretty helpful to go to training mode pick bison and give the cpu laura. give the both of you infinite life, crank the difficulty all the way up and have at it.

I'm with you. I noticed my hand shaking like crazy when hovering over buttons. That never used to happen. Not doing myself any favors maining Cammy.

Full health on Bison at lvl 30.

beasting him get him down to 10% health, forgot i had fight req on. No big deal can beat him after the match.

Win the ranked match, get back, try to turn fight REq off, get 30% comboed as soon as I leave the menu screen, lose my composure,drop to 5% health.

die like a bitch to bison.

I don't see the point in leagues if this happens. I am also often matched with Silver league players when I'm a Bronze (borderline Rookie). The problem is that the matchmaking prioritizes regional location more than rank. I never met anyone from a country other than mine, it's always the same people.

Well, it's not newbie friendly in the slightest. The online is brutal for newbies and the single player is thin on content. I would wait.

There's a lot of rookies in battle lounge and casuals.
 
Oh god damn it, win 1st round, lose 2nd, get Mika 1 hit from KO then I forget how to play..know what I should do and when to do it, but the moves just didn't come out while I watch my health drop from 70% to KO.

I'm so bad at this.

Don't beat yourself up brofessor. The reactions will come with time. You WILL get conditioned the more you play. Heck you probably already have gotten faster since the very first time you played.

Stick with birdie. If that's what it takes for you to learn the fighting engine of this game, do it. No shame in that. Later on you can branch to other characters.
 
Went from winning 25 matches in a row to losing 15. Feel like I'm in the appropriate place now but damn was that demoralizing.

I appreciate it man, but nah. The reactions are going with time. I had them once. They're leaving now.

Yunno what I enjoy? Those narrative based adventure thingies. Boy, those are nice. There's all this pleasant, mellow music playing, I just kinda poke along and look at stuff. Maybe take a screencap or two. Every now and again a button shows up, I push it, and people talk to me! Such nice stories, really.

I havent played casual matches online or lounges only Ranked so far but from what i remember from last beta is that I ran into more casual players on casual mode. Ranked always higher competition.
