It's a little frustrating actually, that when I start up an online match, my mind kind of freezes and suddenly don't know what to do to attack the opponent. I always end up doing fireballs (sonic boom), some moonsault (even though it's very unsafe) and small combos like mp > lk >hp or hk > mk > hk.

Just keep practicing and sooner or later you'll start figuring out how to incorporate new skills into your battle plan.

oh just fought a flowchart Ken with a 5 win streak. Those actually exist lol

I destroyed him with Gief, I was sure he was gonna DC on me. But he didnt.

Also yeah, I CAN get matches see, just takes ages and I cant use battle lounge. Help

You have to be blessed by Combofiend to get into matches faster and for battle lounge to work.

Haha it is so great when you realize other player is panicking and just pressing buttons and doing specials hoping to get hits in and you just block and punish everything.

People have called Capcom out for having no DC penalty, but with the servers as they are I think it's the right call until they can demonstrate long-term stability.

absolutely agree... PC stability is also really shaky. The Wacom tablet/Touchscreen crash from all the betas still isn't fixed.

I think that's why they did it. I remember being super annoyed at a rage quitter until I realized it was just the servers lol. I'd be super pissed if I lost LP for something like that.

2 win streak on ranked. Time to retire?

and hey a second match popping in 15 minutes or whaever it was, thats better right? :(

It was working great last night. Are you planning to mainly play online?

Yes.

Looking at a stick also...I just...I can't knowingly spend almost $300 to play a broken game (I know it's super incomplete) but I just wanna be able to play it as soon as I get the stick and the download finishes.

I got a tip that Necalli is like Balrog from SF4 so I've been putting in some time working on bread and butter combos. His normals seem terrible though other than his anti-air? I'm not sure what I should be doing in the neutral game with pokes

Yes.

Get a stick!

I may be just getting unlucky but his jabs have crazy priority and go easily into 20% combos from my experience.

So I'm playing on a fight stick for the first time ever, so I'm expecting some struggles adapting for a bit. But goddamn I feel like I suck at this game lol

Hori RAP4 Kai is relatively affordable and a decent enough stick

I figure if there's not too many more hiccups that it'll be safe to play this weekend. It worked perfectly last night for me from about 8:30ish to 10:30ish ET, no laggy matches and 10 seconds downtime between finding matches. I haven't played it today yet, though.

Block doesn't damage the opponent, headbut is slow and you need like half a screen to counter a fireball, you certainly cannot use it to get into damage range.

V-skill is too slow to do anything also, it a counter tool imo, which is useless against fireballs.

Neutral jump, headbutt, lariat, v-skill fireballs from far range
Block, neutral jump, forward jump from mid range.
Hit far buttons, charge St. HP, EX Running grab, V-trigger, jump lk or jump mk at mid to close range.

Keep walking forward

Guys, I just put my HRAP EX back together and I forgot to put the shaft cover (hehe) back on. Its a real bitch to get these bolts out, is it really a big deal?

I put both of the dust guard disc thingies on.

Ahhhhh nevermind, OCD won. OCD always wins.

I don't have the game yet, but how do survival modes work? Is it relatively easy to unlock colours? Are all the difficulties the same number of opponents or what?

You just know you're terrible when you can't do shit against fireball spamming Ryu's.

I get so frustrated by the fact somebody enjoys doing that, that I lose any form of composure and lose.

This is a fighting game, if you're struggling against basic fireball patterns why should your opponent do anything different? The point is to win.

Local B&M has the Chun Li stick in stock...thinking about that. My thirst for SFV is REAL and needs to be quenched.

Good to know...I'm close to the edge now....I'm gonna keep tabs on this thread and the SFVServer twitter throughout the day.

the frustrating part (well, among many with this game lets be honest lol) is that the netcode seems excellent. I had no lag in these 2 matches, there was a little dip in one of the round starts thats about it.

It just needs to work (well for everyone)

The fact I keep losing now because the best players still haven't gone up in the leagues yet or Im matched with higher league opponents is getting demoralising tbh

Any tips for landing Mika's command grabs? They have zero range and I can't seem to combo into them. The only time I can land them is when my opponent blocks a charged sHK.

Its easy if you're a computer. Color 2 is locked behind story mode (really easy) Colors 3-6 are Normal, 7-10 is Hard.

Maybe you should take a break. Let the best people rank up so the matchmaking gets clearer

You need to make your opponent block by pressuring them with buttons. Once they start blocking, go to town.

The important thing to remember is that if they never start blocking, go to town on them anyway with normals and combos.

Lucky you, I'm still not getting matches, and I can't join lounges either.
It's not like I'm getting matches every 30 secs like other people have reported, but at least in getting them, unlike yesterday which was a total clusterfuck. This and finally watching Deadpool later tonight will make for a good day.

Those matches are the best opportunity to improve your game though! Sure, you'll probably lose, but if from the wreckage you salvage some tech you invented in desperation or learn something about how to defend against a certain character you didn't know before, it's totally worth it.

Or maybe I'm just trying to spin it that way because I suck. Or both, I guess. Could be both...

Faced a really good Zangief this morning. Very patient, and made me afraid of that headbutt move. Not quite sure how to approach him with Rashid since his whirlwind fireballs keep him grounded (where he wants to be anyways). Since you don't want to be in his face, and since Zangief's limbs are much longer, it looks like whiff punishing is the name of the game in that matchup.

I had good luck with matches this morning (7:30 - 8:30am EST), only had to wait a minute or so between matches.
