Just from casually browsing this thread and seeing comments on social media and stuff it seems like you need a fighting stick to do well at the game, unless you're incredibly good with a pad.
Thanks for the replies guys, seems to be mixed opinions on this. I'm gonna go ahead and pick it up anyway cos even if I don't enjoy it I can always trade it in.

You need to go to your player profile, your most recent matches are under the History tab and you can save replays from there. And you can do the same with any other player's profile. It's cool, I used this to take a look and see what a top ranked player plays like.
Sure, on screen I guess, but the player clearly didn't earn it. It's deceptive & bad for the community as a whole. Capcom needs to fix this ASAP.

I usually do not taunt, but this Ryu player won a match playing horribly and I just had to taunt when I faced him again and beat his ass.
They might, but I have a feeling that first they want to fix their servers so 50% of the player community doesn't get DCed by servers and then gets the RageQuit penalty

So, last night I messed around with new characters in ranked match and my LP dropped to sub 400. Now I've switched back to my main character rotation and I'm getting a ton of rage quitters when I'm about to beat someone with 1K+ LP. It sucks because they are so worried about losing larger LP amounts to someone with LP, or maybe they expected an easy victory... I dunno.
For such an online centric system they developed, not punishing RQs is pretty stupid. Maybe... it's a free update in June? lol

Jesus fucking christ, just played a Dhalsim teleporting via special moves and rollback/lag. Worst experience I've had thus far, with otherwise smooth matches

Finally got to spend about an hour with this game. I feel like Birdie is the character closest to Honda, but with worse normals. I haven't really played anyone else, but it seems like the game is meant to be played faster/rushdown style. I prefer to be more reactionary/defensive, so I guess I've got to give Sim a try?
At least with the PS4, I can always hit the share button and upload their shameful drop on Youtube. Stick their PSN handle in the description. Hey, if Capcom isn't going to punish droppers then I guess we have to.

How common are lag switches? Because it was 1-0 then I won the 2nd round and the 3rd was oddly teleporty compared to the first two matches.
Birdie can be played defensively quite effectively. His v-skill is designed to get people to come at you, and his d.mp is a godlike anti-air.
And no sweep was punished that day.
Edit: Those matches would've been so much easier if you did even slightly better punishes.
What's even better is when your character has essentially two taunts. Mika love <3
Probably not as common as shitty wifi, or shared connections that get swamped cause some guy's sister decided to load up youtube.
Also it's rollback, flipping a lag switch isn't going to do that person any good.
