I've been enjoying this and the matches I've gotten so far have been pretty good connection-wise. But man... relearning how to play with a stick is rough, I have no idea how to approach most situations. Also, getting 0 fight money from a loss is too rough. It should be maybe 1/3 of what you get from a win. This is a game where competition is incredibly fierce, everyone knows how to play and you will get bodied match after match after match. It's just incredibly difficult to find motivation if you're not being rewarded (even a little bit) for the effort you're putting in. If you're playing to get better then you'll keep going, but for more casual players who just want to earn 40,000 FM for a story costume for example, this isn't gonna work. Those 800 wins could take months of daily constant playing.
Giving people a reward for losing is a big no-no in fighting games, and I'm glad they decided against it: the last thing you want is an army of people leaving their console running at night on autofire to farm FM from lost matches!

Man, I've never played a fighting game before but always wanted to. I can't play this to save my life... I can't even do combos in character action games, I was a fool to think I stood a chance of figuring out how to play Street Fighter... I hate that I can't play this awesome looking game.

Wish the tutorial was more in depth.

You just have to keep at it. Once you get there, you'll be good for the rest of your gaming life.

I went to the effort of learning all of the 10 hit combos in Tekken back on the PS1, and that knowledge is still useful 15 years later. You're not investing all this time into just one game, the fundamentals will carry over into sequels and even other fighting franchises.

Earning money will be easier when they add in daily challenges.

This game in infuriating.
I lost every match for 2 days in a row, still I keep at it.
I get matched with a 9 win streak Ken, with around 1500 point, I fucking win the game, this asshole disconnects on the KO screen.

For a brief 2 seconds I felt what this game CAN deliver, training, and losing, and finally executing things in a proper way.

No other game makes me want to send hate messages, but I was really close at that point.

I really hope Capcom will put in a penalty for DCíng, cause this really is a huge bummer, which can me easily avoided.

I think the idea is to earn the Fight Money by doing dailies, although we haven't seen what that is

I also think they want to avoid people just joining lobbies and not doing anything at all just to grind money, which is a huge problem in other games that have compensation for being bad

I'm just waiting on the dailies and suchz probably won't buy too many costumes to start out with, only 1 I really want is Karin's dress

800 wins for what amount of FM? I have 10k FM just from playing 30 Ranked and few Casual matches online. You rack up FM really fast.

I don't understand what I have to do to prevent a Laura player from getting a free command throw after her bnb combo thing. Cant grab her, cant punch her, cant jump away

Lol I'm also trying to figure this out wanted to test some things but I'm not home now but believe me it's on the forefront of my mind right now haha

It slows down, a lot of the points you are getting right now are probably from leveling up.
That well is gonna dry up later on.

People keep forgetting the daily challenges this game will have. That will be a steady stream of FM after the level up bonuses stop being effective.

Hmm, probably does. Just seems ridiculous if all I can do agains't a Laura that keeps doing that combo is 2-3 light jabs that might as well just be a bit of chip dmg
If the lp works I think you can combo off of it I'm not a Mika player myself but I know as Chun it's possible to combo off of light hit so maybe it may be the same for Mika?

You just learnt a deep truth about players with big win streaks. They're probably asshole scrubs that D/C on other players when losing.

Wouldn't sweat the wins and losses on matchmaking too much.

Sure that well is going to dry up but we got Survival, Trials, Extra and Daily Challenges to give you FM. We just have to wait and see how much those are going to give.

Are you talking about the follow up to her elbow charge, or the actual reset of not doing the follow up but the command throw?
Because you can totally jump away from the latter.

Just got my first League promotion and then right after knocked a Super Bronze FANG a League down and as a Birdie, that feels good.

I was afraid I would've had a very hard match.

Also I forgot the ranked search on when I left the computer for a second and returned to a Double Perfect. Oops.

Right after the elbow charge
But you do know there is a variation with a follow-up that combos, versus not doing the follow-up but instead the command grab, right?
The reset is all part of her mix-up game, she's slightly positive on the elbow charge on hit (probably something like +2, I think? I'll have to check that though ^^), so it's a guessing game as to what she will do after that. If the goes for the command grab, you can totally escape it by jumping or back-dashing or even with a fast enough normal. But if she minds you will try to escape, she can hit you out of those by not going for the command grab but throwing out a LK or MK instead.

I wonder how strict capcom will be with them kinda hoping its hard like all lp is wiped and cant play ranked matches for 24 hours

That would require them to be pretty much certain that somebody DC'd on purpose.
I imagine that they expected issues so they didn't want to introduce penalities for disconnecting when it was the fault of the game servers. Hopefully they implement something soon.

However, I expect the penality won't be so drastic because it may just hurt somebody that had a random drop.

Well it wouldn't be fair for the first week obviously as server issues have been bad, wonder what the servers will be like during the first weekend for the game

Even when the servers are judged to be stable, I imagine they will probably just give the match lost for the person that DC'd.

How many setups are there for Chun into her super? I've taken for granted how easy it was to combo into her ultras and super in SFIV.

Question: how do you save Replays? How do I save the match that I had with someone?

Go to your match history in your fighter profile and select the match you want to save. It'll give the option to save a replay. From there, you can access it in the replay section of CFN.

Thanks. I Googled this issue. I went to CFN and went to Replays and couldn't find it.

I posted about a problem I was having with the PC version where my game would randomly go into slow motion in menus or during matches. Turns out updating my nvidia video card drivers does the trick and now the issue seems to have gone away. :)

Match making also seems to be working better than the day before.

I set my fight request settings to match with those with a 5 only connection, however I would say 1/4 times I still get matches with fairly bad rollbacks. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have the good old input lag than this shit. Rollbacks + frame skips make it a crapshoot for both players and it is simply frustrating.

Is there any way to circumvent matches with rollbacks or is it just something I have to live with for now?

Yeah it would be extra frustrating if the server disconnected you and then also punished you for it's own problems. Now though things seem fine and they should add it in the game because it is happening too frequently.
SFIV had a reasonable disconnecting penalty, you lost the max amount of points that you can lose in a match. Anything less than that and ranked match mode loses any meaning.

Have they mentioned if the lobbies are going to show the flag and ping when you search for lobbies any time soon?

Question: how do you save Replays? How do I save the match that I had with someone?

It's done automatically. You can browse your past matches in the CFN segment and add the replays you want to keep to a personal list.

EDIT: They won't show up in 'Replays' at first, you have to find your match from your history and grab the replay from it.

I think the core gameplay is really good and fun and offline VS is a blast. But the package around this leaves alot to be desired. The netcode/rollback has been very bad for me, the frame rate/slowdown, long loading times, server disconnects, UI decisions, how content is laid out.

Its all very disappointing. You don't conquer esports like this.

Had my first game where it was....kinda close? I lost both rounds but they had maybe 10% of their HP meter left on both rounds

I played Rashid, they were R.Mika.

Feeling good

Ugh how are you supposed to block bisons jumping knee if you can't tell which can side it's hitting you on. Keep getting blown up by ambiguous cross uplike this lol

My scrub dhalsim doesn't know what to do with the constant pressure.

Two random questions:

1. Can you get Fight Money from Battle Lounge matches or is it only ranked and casual?

2. Will you be able to buy all the costumes with FM or will there be some that can only be purchased with zenny or whatever?

I'm not loving this SHITTY netcode. Every other match lags 50x worse than SF4. What were they thinking?

Also the bug on PC (maybe PS4?) where it takes forever to find a match after doing about 5 or so ranked matches. It even loads in slow and doesn't load in your and your opponents LP during the versus screen. Restarting the game is the only fix. Such trash... How do we have so many betas with that not being noticed?

Either way, still having fun. But the rollback is so bad.

This is the best netcode I have ever seen in a fighting game. Almost every match I play is like playing locally. It is incredible.

Many of the costumes are going to be premium, which means you will have to use real money. That is how they are going to fund their DLC characters and other updates.

I agree with this except for the netcode and slowdowns (since i'm on pc, don't have any ps4 experience with the game). Lack of polish and features everywhere. The game feels very very rushed.
